Color us not surprised, but another one of the Biden administration’s “visions” for forcing people to own electric vehicles isn’t working out exactly as planned.

This time it deals with supply chain logistics, with Bloomberg reporting this week that in the year and a half since passing the Inflation Reduction Act, automakers are finding out the hard way that the rigorous criteria for manufacturing batteries using materials from the United States and its free-trade allies could render them cost-inefficient compared to global competitors.

Companies like Tesla are instead taking advantage of a temporary shift in the rules to stock up with cheaper batteries from countries like China.

The Biden administration’s new rules will all but cut out China from the supply chain, however, which will make it tougher to find affordable metal suppliers.

This, in turn, will threaten President Biden’s goal to boost the domestic electric vehicle market. Bloomberg writes that mining companies and labor unions insist that without curtailing the influx of cheaper, Chinese-subsidized materials, the U.S. can’t develop a competitive EV market.

Meanwhile, the higher costs are driving automakers away from EVs. And as battery material requirements are set to double by 2027, fulfilling these mandates will be increasingly difficult, putting Biden’s ambitious EV strategy at risk.

The demand side of the equation also looks less than favorable. We wrote just hours ago about how Ford was slashing prices on its Mach E and Lightning 150. Tesla has been slashing prices to stoke demand for nearly a year now. 

Both Ford and GM have said they’re going to curtail their investment in EVs. General Motors, who posted better than expected earnings earlier this month, said that it plans on changing its product lineup to include more hybrid vehicles, drifting away from pure electric vehicles. 

CEO Mary Barra said on the earnings call: “Let me be clear, GM remains committed to eliminating tailpipe emissions from our light-duty vehicles by 2035, but, in the interim, deploying plug-in technology in strategic segments will deliver some of the environment or environmental benefits of EVs as the nation continues to build this charging infrastructure.”

Recall, a report from Consumer Reports last year found that electric vehicles have almost 80% more problems and are “generally less reliable” than conventional internal combustion engine cars. 

But hey, what good is a “free” market if the government doesn’t have complete and total control of consumer choice, right Joe?

Rep. Matt Gaetz calls for “largest arrest & deportation operation the world has ever seen” in response to horror wreck

An illegal alien wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was arrested for killing a man riding a motorcycle in Florida this week, according to reports.

The deadly crash unfolded just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday night in Escambia County.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was riding northbound on a multi-lane road near Pensacola when a driver in a vehicle traveling in the same direction cut him off, WEAR News reports.

The driver “failed to safely change lanes,” colliding with the motorcyclist and knocking him into the median, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The rider died from injuries suffered in the wreck.

“Byron Pineda, 33, was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked,” North Escambia reports.

“He was booked into Escambia County Jail late Tuesday night where records show he is also wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).”

Pineda was ordered held on $250,000 bond.

The tragedy occurred in Florida’s 1st Congressional District, which is represented by Republican Matt Gaetz.

“When President Trump returns to the White House, we must endeavor on the largest arrest & deportation operation the world has ever seen,” Rep. Gaetz wrote on social media.

“Illegal aliens are literally killing our neighbors in every community in America.”

Multiple commenters on local media websites claimed to know the victim and his family and say he recently entered the Navy.

An investigation is ongoing.

Milei is considered a “far right” libertarian, but his extensive economic background has so far made him perfectly placed to begin repairs to Argentina’s long suffering fiscal system.

Not long after socialist activists flooded into Buenos Aires to protest President Javier Milei’s sweeping budget cuts and reforms, it has been announced that Argentina is enjoying its first monthly budget surplus since August 2012.  The budget fix (and $589 million positive balance) took Milei only one month in office to achieve and leaves the political left with some embarrassing questions to answer.

Milei is considered a “far right” libertarian, but his extensive economic background has so far made him perfectly placed to begin repairs to Argentina’s long suffering fiscal system.

A balanced budget is the first step towards removing the country’s economy from under the thumb of the International Monetary Fund and the organization’s $44 billion loan.  Though Argentina has a long way to go to solvency, the socialist policies of previous administrations only served to trap the population in a prison of persistent debt.  This has led to a series of stagflationary crisis events and a greatly devalued peso.  The economy is currently suffering from a 250% inflation rate.

Pro-establishment critics have asserted for months that Milei would “destroy” Argentina’s financial framework, but frankly, that happened long before he entered office.  As we have seen in many western nations the past decade, kicking the can down the road only leads to increasingly more volatile economic consequences.  

Once a country is addicted to socialist subsidies over the course of decades, convincing the populace that the government handouts they have grown to rely on are a form of bondage becomes very difficult.  Milei’s methodology of tearing off the band aid and setting wholesale fire to socialized programs may be the only way to force the public to stop being dependent.  At the very least, it’s the only solution that hasn’t been tried, which is often a good sign that it will work.

Black female bashes Asian musician in head with metal water bottle

A cello player announced he has suspended performances in the New York City subway after a brutal unprovoked attack while he was playing in the Big Apple last week.

The shocking assault unfolded on the evening of February 13 in Manhattan.

Iain Forrest was busking at the 34th Street – Herald Square subway station when a female suspect grabbed Forrest’s metal water bottle and bashed him across the back of the head.

The attack was captured on camera by multiple witnesses.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) released additional surveillance footage of the suspect along with a request for information from the public.

Forrest says he has been assaulted multiple times during performances in NYC will no longer be playing at transit stations due to the danger it presents.

“Two attacks in less than a year is two too much. I have been punched, choked, and now bashed in the head. I love performing for you all in the subway, but I’m at my breaking point and can’t take more injury or harm,” Forrest explained in a statement on social media.

“Many other musicians who perform in the subway have also been attacked, harassed, robbed. If you have experienced something terrible like this know that you’re NOT alone.”

A suspect has not been identified or apprehended at the time of this writing, according to the latest available updates.

While a motive for the attack remains unclear, it is relevant to note that the suspect appears to be a black female and the victim appears to be of Asian descent.

Head of Google’s ‘AI Responsibility’ initiative admits her own racism sparked diversity, equity and inclusion push.

Footage out of a Google meeting shows the founder behind the company’s “AI responsibility” initiative claiming AI systems need to be more inclusive, as its Gemini AI comes under fire for excluding white people from generative image requests.

In videos from 2021, the company’s Founder and Director of Responsible Innovation at Google Jen Gennai confessed she treated “Black, Hispanic and Latinx” employees differently than white employees, suggesting this was the moment that began her anti-white crusade.

“It was a wake up call for me,” Gennai says in a video posted to X by The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh.

Gennai goes on to say she learned from her failures and that it’s ok to make mistakes when trying to be an “anti-racist.”

In another video, Gennai, whose job is to ensure products operated by Google’s “fair and ethical” AI Principles, had difficulty explaining her use of the word “ally” without fearing she might offend someone.

As Walsh points out, Gennai is the same Google employee who in 2019 was caught by Project Veritas admitting Google was using its AI systems and censorship algorithms to manipulate the 2020 election.

The flashback to Gennai’s comments come as Google’s AI platform Gemini (formerly Bard) is weathering criticism over its image generator refusing to create images of white people.

Another project lead behind Gemini, Jack Krawcyzk, has also found himself at the center of controversy over social media posts in which he espoused anti-white racism while promoting the leftist self-hating social justice warrior notion of “white privilege.”

Evidently, the exclusion of whites wasn’t a flaw in the Gemini system, but a baked-in “feature.”
