Limp Bizkit Bass Player Calls for Biden To Withdraw
Limp Bizkit bass player Sam Rivers has issued an impassioned call for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 election, asking him to “sacrifice personal ambition for the sake of American democracy.”
In a Facebook post on Friday, Rivers wrote, “You can’t win, Joe. It’s time to go.”
“If Democrats want to keep rollin’, rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ in November, they’re going to need somebody fresh and young. Word?”
Rivers joins a growing number of celebrities who are now calling on Biden to bow out of the 2024 race. George Clooney, Michael Stipe and Rob Reiner have all made public statements about Biden after his disastrous performance against Trump in the first presidential debate and subsequent “revelations” about his cognitive decline.
On Wednesday, Clooney wrote an opinion piece in The New York Times with the title, “I love Joe Biden. But we need a new nominee.”
“We are not going to win in November with this president,” Clooney wrote.
“On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate. This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor who I’ve spoken with in private.”
At least 20 Democrats in Congress have now called for Biden to withdraw, including senior figures like Jerry Nadler.
Biden himself has remained steadfast in his insistence that he will not withdraw. A week ago, he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he would only withdraw “if the Lord Almighty comes down and tells me that.”
Snap polling, conducted minutes after the first debate, showed that 67% of viewers believed Trump bested the President, and multiple polls have shown that significant proportions of the American public believe Biden is now unfit for the job.
Elon Musk Gives “Sizeable Amount” to Trump PAC
Elon Musk has given a “sizeable amount” to a Trump PAC, providing the clearest evidence yet of a rightward shift by the billionaire.
Anonymous insiders told Bloomberg that Musk made the donation to America PAC, with no indication of the size of the gift other than that it was “sizeable.”
The America PAC group can receive unlimited campaign contributions; although it cannot directly fund a presidential candidate. It will be required to disclose its list on donors on Monday.
According to Bloomberg, “The move highlights the growing influence of a technology mogul who tops the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a net worth of $263.6 billion and his shift from a self-described political independent—who said he preferred to stay out of politics—into a figure who regularly uses his X social-media platform to espouse right-leaning views and assail Democrats.”
Musk has become an increasingly harsh critic of President Joe Biden, regularly using his social-media platform X to give voice to his criticisms. Recently he has Tweeted at length about the failure of Biden’s immigration policies and the need to secure America’s electoral process against fraud.
Musk has been careful, though, not to offer an explicit political endorsement for Trump until this point. In March, when Trump met with Musk and other wealth donors, Musk issued a statement saying, “Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US president.”
There’s also been talk of Trump giving Musk a role as a political advisor if he wins a second term.
Musk has not made large political donations in the past. He has given to candidates on both sides of the aisle, including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Marco Rubio, George W. Bush and John Kerry,
Musk himself has made no comment on the donation to America PAC. The group itself declined to comment, but the Biden campaign issued a statement in response to news of Musk’s donation.
“Arrogant billionaires only out for themselves are not what America wants or what America needs,” James Singer, a spokesman, said in a statement.
“Elon knows Trump is a sucker who will sell America out, cutting his taxes while raising taxes on the middle class by $2,500.”

Restrictions on Trump’s Instagram and Facebook Accounts To Be Lifted
Restrictions placed on Donald Trump’s Instagram and Facebook accounts will be lifted, Meta announced on Friday.
Meta’s president of global affairs, former British politician Nick Clegg, said that the decision was made in the interests of fairness for the upcoming election.
“In assessing our responsibility to allow political expression, we believe that the American people should be able to hear from the nominees for president on the same basis,” Clegg said
“In reaching this conclusion, we also considered that these penalties were a response to extreme and extraordinary circumstances, and have not had to be deployed.”
Since Trump’s Meta accounts were reinstated in January 2023, they have been subject to harsher penalties than those of other users if he violates the rules. Trump has yet to violate Meta policies, but the fear of Meta bosses was that if Trump were to commit a minor infraction during the run-up to the election, one or more of his accounts could be hit with reduced visibility or even suspended for up to two years, and that this could lead to accusations of attempting to influence the course of the election.
Trump was banned from a number of social-media platforms in the days after 6 January 2021, ostensibly for “incitement to violence.” In response, Trump founded his own social-media network Truth Social, which he still relies on as his primary means of communicating directly with his supporters, despite being reinstated on Twitter and other platforms.
Trump is still banned on Snapchat.

Michigan Governor Whitmer Changes Rules on Investigations of Voter Fraud
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed into law two bills this week that will significantly alter rules regarding investigations of voter fraud in elections. Critics say they will undermine confidence in the electoral process and make investigating voter fraud significantly more difficult.
Senate Bill 603 states that a voter recount will not be an “investigation or an audit of the conduct of an election,” nor will it be used to used to decide “the qualifications of electors participating in an election or the manner in which ballots are applied for or issued to electors.”
A “satisfactory explanation” for a recount and a “sworn affidavit in a form prescribed by the Secretary of State,” according to a news release from Governor Whitmer’s office.
The cost of recount fees will also be increased and, crucially, a filing for a recount must be submitted within 48 hours of the certification of the vote by a board of canvassers. Boards of canvassers will not be allowed to investigate claims of voter fraud themselves, but must refer the matter to the prosecuting attorney of the county of the office of the state attorney general.
The second bill, Bill 604, alters sentencing guidelines for recount violations.
“These bipartisan bills address a range of issues that will build a stronger future for our communities,” said Governor Whitmer in the news release.
Governor Whitmer added that the two laws will ensure “fair and free elections that make sure the winner can take office without unnecessary interference.”
The bills were opposed by Republican politicians in the state, who argued that they would diminish confidence in the fairness of elections and make it harder to investigate voter fraud
“I understand the importance of preventing frivolous recounts, but we must also acknowledge the rights of candidates and voters to ensure they have confidence in the results,” state Rep. Ann Bollin, last month.
“By making recounts too expensive, we are effectively pricing out local candidates from ensuring the accuracy of election results and diminishing the public’s confidence in the process.”
Other critics suggest the measures are counterproductive and will make it harder to determine whether individuals have voted in multiple states.
