Daily Show Shocked Half Of Black Voter Focus Group Backing Trump

adminJul 11, 20242 min read
‘The Democrat Party, they make a bunch of promises they can’t deliver,’ said one former liberal.

The Daily Show” correspondent Josh Johnson tried to get to the bottom of why the 2024 presidential election “feels different” than the past when it comes to black America’s support for the Democrat candidate.

Johnson sat down with a focus group of six black Americans from the New York area to ask for their thoughts on Donald Trump and his surge in African American support.

Half of the six individuals explained they’ll be voting for Trump, leaving Johnson surprised, saying, “I didn’t see that coming.”

The Trump supporters said the believe there will be “a big shift” in black voters leaving the Democrat Party this election.

“For me, I’ve always been a Democrat. And, for the most part with the Democrat Party, they make a bunch of promises they can’t deliver,” one man stated.

A woman added, “They [Democrats] use the issues of the African American community as a soapbox to stand on and make promises to get us to come out and vote. And then once we vote and everyone is in place, it’s like what happened?”

When a Biden supporter in the group claimed Trump “don’t respect the black person,” two of the Trump voters pointed out Sleepy Joe told Americans they “aren’t black” if they don’t vote for him.

The small panel’s opinions highlight a change in the American political landscape, but will the shift in Trump’s favor be enough to overcome Democrat election hijinks?

AfD Launches Nationalist Party Group in European Parliament

Final composition of ‘Europe of Sovereign Nations’ set for next week.

A nationalist political grouping within the European Parliament (EP) launched on Wednesday in Brussels, consisting of Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) MEPs alongside newly arrived delegations from Eastern Europe, including the Polish Konfederacja.

Long theorised as a prospective national conservative voice in the EP, the Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) has met the parliamentary requirements of 23 MEPs from seven different member states. Its delegates gathered in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss the party’s constitution and the allocation of key positions.

The party group has successfully registered with parliamentary authorities and is currently in negotiations to bridge tensions between strong-willed MEPs representing nationalist parties from different member states. On Wednesday evening, AfD MEP René Aust was named president of the group. The ESN is expected to formally premiere its party constitution and reveal other key leadership positions at a meeting in the European Parliament next week.

ESN is billed as a radical alternative to the existing European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) of Giorgia Meloni and the recently formed Patriots for Europe. László Toroczkai, the leader of Mi Hazánk—the Hungarian nationalists inside ESN—declared that the group’s launch showed:

We don’t want to negotiate with Europe’s enemies; we don’t want to get along with them, but we want to defeat them upon our arrival in Brussels on Wednesday.

The new party is reported to have secured the backing of up to nine nationalist parties across the EU, including the Polish Konfederacja, the Czech SPD, the Bulgarian Revival Party, and one Reconquête MEP, Sarah Knafo.

Czech nationalist MEP Tomio Okamura outlined that the ESN agenda would be “against the Green Deal, against migration, and… also against Islamisation” in a media interview last week. At the time, sources close to the nascent EP grouping said that it had already secured 25 MEPs and would likely gain more during the coming days and weeks.

Russia Vows ‘Military Response’ to US Missile Deployment Plans

Moscow views Washington’s move as a method of intimidation, its Deputy Foreign Minister has said.

Russia will calmly prepare a military response to US plans to station long-range missiles in Germany, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Thursday.

Washington announced plans on Wednesday to start deploying long-range weapons in Germany in 2026, including SM-6 and Tomahawk systems, “as part of planning for enduring stationing of these capabilities in the future.”

The latest American plans are just another escalation of tensions by the West and “one of the elements of intimidation, which today is almost the main component of the NATO and US” approach towards Russia, Ryabkov said.

Land-based missiles with a range between 500km and 5,500km were banned on European soil under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty, signed by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987. In 2019, the US pulled out of the Cold War-era pact, accusing Moscow of having violated it.

Ryabkov said deploying US missiles to Germany is primarily aimed at damaging Russia’s security.

“Without nerves, without emotions, we will develop, first of all, a military response to this new game,” the diplomat said, adding that the Russian military had already “taken this message to task.”

The weapons systems to be deployed in Germany will include the SM-6 anti-air missile, which has a range of up to 460km, and the Tomahawk cruise missile, which can reportedly strike targets more than 2,500km away.

Berlin and Washington released a joint statement announcing the plan following talks at NATO’s annual summit in Washington.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow would respond in kind to Washington’s deployment of intermediate and shorter-range missiles. In June, the president said that Russia might resume production of previously banned missile systems, citing the “hostile actions” of the US.

Live Now: WWIII Alert As NATO Vows Ukraine Will Eventually Join

Russia’s hard line may soon be crossed.

“The American Journal” is live every weekday from 8-11 am CST.

The Washington Summit Declaration of July 10 mentions “the irreversible path of Ukraine” to NATO. For Russia, 2 possible ways of how this path ends are acceptable: either Ukraine disappears, or NATO does. Still better, both.

Germany Forced to Water Down ‘Compulsory’ Military Draft Plans

Conscription proposal sparks unease among ruling coalition members.

The German government is being pressured by its junior coalition member FDP to throw out the ‘compulsory’ elements of its upcoming military conscription law, which is set to be implemented some time next year.

While the proposal would only involve drafting a small portion of eligible young people—those who previously indicated a willingness to join the German army—the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) says that any compulsory dimension would still be unfair, according to Die Welt on Tuesday, July 9th.

As The European Conservative reported previously, Berlin has been considering reintroducing some form of a limited military draft. This is purportedly in response to the war in Ukraine and growing geopolitical tensions globally, and part of a wider effort to make Germany ‘war ready’ by 2025.

The proposed law is based on the so-called Scandinavian model—similar to one in Sweden—under which all 18-year-old German males would only be obliged to register their intentions in a questionnaire.

From those saying they could see themselves in the military, the Ministry of Defense could select a small contingent each year for medical examination, and ultimately, for a six-month service that can be voluntarily extended to up to 17 months.

Defense minister Boris Pistorius argued that the ‘compulsory’ elements of this ‘light’ conscription model are “negligible,”  because those potentially drafted will have expressed an interest in joining up anyway. Besides, the draft would cover a very limited number of only 5,000 conscripts every year—with options to increase this number later on—from an annual pool of 400,000.

Still, the FDP came out to oppose the plan on Tuesday, demanding the compulsory elements be scrapped before they’d greenlight the legislation.

“We are united by the goal of making the Bundeswehr one of the most modern and effective armies. We can and will only achieve this goal with the corresponding social acceptance,” Finance Minister Christian Lindner and Justice Minister Marco Buschmann, both members of the FDP, wrote in a letter addressed to Pistorius.

Any “obligation for small parts of a cohort to [attend medicals] or even military service would raise unavoidable questions of [fairness],” they wrote, adding that it would be a “deep intrusion” into the lives of young people.

Nonetheless, the FDP would still support other elements of the current proposal, including the annual survey of young people who could be called up in the event of war, as well as additional measures to make military service more attractive.
