Long-running organization in imminent danger of being abolished amid legal attack from New York Attorney General

The VDARE.com website, founded by Peter Brimelow, has been on the internet since 1999.

VDARE deals with immigration (legal and illegal), national identity, ethnic identity politics, race and crime, and related topics; especially aspects of these matters that are excluded by the Mainstream Media.

That’s why VDARE is under attack and is currently in imminent danger of being abolished.

It’s a very well-documented website. Articles on VDARE.com are not just long rants. They are well-written pieces replete with hyperlinks so readers can investigate the sources themselves.

VDARE has a host of writers from various backgrounds and perspectives. They don’t always agree on everything, but they do agree that today’s mass immigration is bad for America. And that was true before the Biden Border Rush.

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve been writing for VDARE since 2001. You can see my article file here.

However, I’d like to think I’d be defending the website even if I had nothing to do with it, just on general principles.

VDARE has been under attack in “the land of the free and the home of the brave” for years. It’s been condemned and misrepresented. Its payment processing has been shut down repeatedly. It’s been banned from YouTube and Facebook.

Sadly, VDARE has been very shabbily treated by the conservative movement itself.

The Free Republic website, for example, calls itself “…one of the earliest and largest online gathering places for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.”

Many news articles and opinion pieces are posted on Free Republic and discussed by readers.

But don’t try to post a VDARE article. That’s prohibited on “Free” Republic. You can post a far-left article but not one by VDARE.

Too many other conservative figures and organizations have cooperated with the left in excluding the website.

VDARE is currently being destroyed by Leticia James, the attorney general of New York.

AG James is the same person who brought the bogus but successful property valuation lawsuit against former President Donald J. Trump – a lawsuit with no victim or plaintiff. It was all about getting Trump.

In this case, it’s all about getting VDARE.

Not that VDARE has been charged with any crime. Oh no. The organization has been bled to death by a long series of legal orders, which is wearing it down and pushing it towards bankruptcy.

It’s called “lawfare” – the new American way to destroy political opponents.

Recently, the organization has been ordered to turn over its emails. Besides being very expensive, this action would reveal the names of its pseudonymous writers, which VDARE staunchly refuses to do.

Who has defended VDARE?

A few have, to their credit. But I haven’t heard one “freedom-loving” conservative in our Congress who has stood up for them.

Yet here’s a curious fact – at VDARE’s darkest and possibly fatal hour, its influence has grown amazingly.

Many of the issues VDARE has been discussing over the years are finally making it into the mainstream discourse.

Tucker Carlson recently acknowledged VDARE and its predicament, interviewing Lydia Brimelow, Peter’s wife, on his show.

Previously, Tucker would not speak of VDARE on his show, although guest Mark Steyn once mentioned and defended the website.

However, I knew that at least one person in Carlson’s camp was reading VDARE, because from time to time Tucker would allude to something that had come from the website.

But now Tucker has publicly defended VDARE by sharing its predicament with viewers.

Matt Walsh has also defended VDARE.

Trump Warns New COVID Variant Will Be Used to Rig 2024 Election

Security forces stormed the Mexican embassy arresting former Ecuadoran vice president Jorge Glas who was taking refuge there.

Mexico suspended relations with Ecuador after security officials there raided its embassy late Friday night.

They arrested former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas, who has been holed up at the Mexican embassy in Ecuador’s capital Quito since December. 

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador instructed the country’s foreign minister to cut diplomatic ties with Ecuador, calling the raid “a flagrant violation of international law and of Mexico’s sovereignty.”

Obrador said Glas was “a refugee and seeking asylum due to the persecution and harassment he is facing.”

The Ecuadorian presidency confirmed Glas’ arrest in a statement on X, formerly Twitter. 

“No criminal can be considered a politically persecuted person,” the presidency said, stressing that Glas, convicted twice for corruption, “has been convicted with an enforceable sentence and had an arrest warrant issued by the competent authorities.”

Ecuador and Mexico’s diplomatic spat worsened fast

Mexican Ambassador Raquel Serur Smeke was declared “persona non grata” in Ecuador on Thursday after Mexican President Lopez Obrador appeared to criticize Ecuador’s recent elections, which President Daniel Noboa won.

Hours before the raid on Friday, Mexico granted asylum to Ecuador’s former vice president, Jorge Glas, who has been holed up in Mexico’s embassy in Quito since late last year after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry was planning to request safe passage for him to leave Ecuador.

Ecuadorian authorities had meanwhile sought Mexico’s permission to enter its embassy and arrest the former president.

Glas was sentenced in 2017 to six years in prison after he was found guilty of receiving bribes from Brazilian construction company Odebrecht in exchange for granting it government contracts.

He served time for the conviction and was released from prison in November 2022, only to face another arrest warrant for allegedly diverting funds intended for reconstruction efforts following a 2015 devastating earthquake.

The former vice president, who had served under leftist Rafael Correa between 2013 and 2017, argues he is being persecuted by the attorney general’s office.

“We write to express our shared concern and outrage regarding the recent Israeli airstrike which killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, including an American citizen.”

Forty members of US Congress, including former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have appealed with a joint letter to US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to stop the transfer of offensive weapons to Israel after a deadly Israeli strike on World Central Kitchen’s (WCK) humanitarian convoy in the Gaza Strip.

“We write to express our shared concern and outrage regarding the recent Israeli airstrike which killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, including an American citizen. In light of this incident, we strongly urge you to reconsider your recent decision to authorize the transfer of a new arms package to Israel, and to withhold this and any future offensive arms transfers until a full investigation into the airstrike is completed,” the letter read.

The members of US Congress also called on Washington to ensure that future military deliveries to Israel, including already authorized transfers, are “subject to conditions to ensure it is used in compliance with U.S. and international law,” the letter said.

“We also urge you to withhold these transfers if Israel fails to sufficiently mitigate harm to innocent civilians in Gaza, including aid workers, and if it fails to facilitate – or arbitrarily denies or restricts – the transport and delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza,” the letter also said.

On Monday, seven World Central Kitchen’s aid workers from Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, Palestine, and a dual citizen of the United States and Canada were killed in the Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip. The humanitarian organization suspended its operations in the region after the deadly incident.

The Israel Defense Forces said later this week that it had dismissed two officers and reprimanded three others after completing its investigation into the deadly strike. The inquiry found Israeli forces mistakenly believed they were attacking Hamas gunmen.

Retaliation response against Israel for the recent attack on Iranian embassy complex in Syria could come at any time

US intelligence is ‘convinced’ that Iran is readying a retaliation response against Israel for the Monday attack on the Iranian embassy complex in Syria, US officials have told CBS News, and that an attack could be imminent.

The officials say that the US “has picked up intelligence that Iran is planning a retaliatory attack that would include a swarm of Shaheed loitering drones and cruise missiles. Officials say the timing and target are unknown, but a proportional response to the Damascus attack would be to hit an Israeli diplomatic facility.”

As for possible timing they believe it will come between now and the end of Ramadan next week. Israel has already issued firm warnings that any direct attack from Iranian soil will be met with a “stronger” response, taking the conflict to the next level.

CBS reports further that “A public funeral was held in Tehran on Friday for the seven IRGC members killed in the suspected Israeli strike in Damascus, including two generals.”

One hawkish analyst from the Middle East Institute, Jason Brodsky, has noted on Friday:

There are reports Iran’s regime may be eyeing hitting an Israel diplomatic compound in a third country via drones & missiles. Israel maintains embassies in Bahrain; UAE; Jordan; Egypt; Azerbaijan; & Turkey. I would keep an eye on Jordan.

This is a scenario that Iranian and regional leaders might deem ‘proportionate’. The idea of a sovereign state intentionally attacking another country’s embassy or consulate was pretty much unheard of prior to Israel’s Monday attack.

Israel, however, has tried claim to the international community – which by and large condemned attacking embassies – that what was actually destroyed was a military building used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

A handful of publications and pundits have pointed out that the Israeli attack, which killed eleven and took out a top IRGC Quds general, is in fact a declaration of war. 

For example, Hamidreza Azizi of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, immediately sought to underscore that the strikes which flattened a consulate next to the main embassy building “is viewed by some in Iran as a declaration of war by Israel against Iran.” 

He wrote further that “It represents a shift from previous engagements, directly hitting Iranian soil represented by its consulate in Syria—as opposed to targeting IRGC officers in Syrian sites.”

Currently, Israel is bracing for an inevitable response, and is reportedly calling up extra reserve forces. Hezbollah could also open up a bigger war front:

The leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement said on Friday that Iran would inevitably retaliate after a strike — widely blamed on Israel — destroyed its consulate in Damascus this week, killing two generals.
“Be certain that Iran’s response to the targeting of its Damascus consulate is inevitable,” Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised speech marking Quds (Jerusalem) Day — an annual day of pro-Palestinian rallies held by Iran and its allies.

At least so far, the daily tit-for-tat fighting along Israel’s northern border has remained contained, but perhaps just barely. Israeli leaders have warned that all of Lebanon could be bombed back to the ‘stone age’ if Hezbollah starts a full war.

Ukraine joining the bloc is like the start of a movie about end of the world, the billionaire has said

A pledge by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Ukraine will become a member of NATO looks like a scene from a movie about a nuclear apocalypse, entrepreneur Elon Musk believes.

The top US diplomat reiterated the “rock solid” determination of his country and other members to eventually include Ukraine in the military bloc at a NATO summit in Brussels this week. Speaking alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, he said the purpose of the event was to “help build a bridge to membership.”

“This is literally how the nuclear apocalypse movie starts,” Musk responded on X (formerly Twitter). He shared a video from the 1983 American television film ‘The Day After’, which depicts a fictional nuclear war between the US and the USSR. The movie was shown to Soviet audiences in 1987, when the two superpowers were negotiating a key nuclear arms control treaty.

Moscow has cited NATO expansion in Europe against Russian objections and an intention to include Ukraine in the organization as one of the key causes of ongoing hostilities. The US and its allies have claimed that all nations have a right to seek accession regardless of whatever concerns Russia may have.

Musk has previously spoken out about the risks to Ukraine and the world of further escalation. Continued hostilities could result in Kiev losing access to the Black Sea, he said last week.

The billionaire has urged Kiev to offer concessions to Moscow in exchange for a peace treaty. He has also backed the argument that US attempts to weaken Russia by arming and funding Ukraine have backfired.

A petition to restrict immigration by any means necessary garnered the 100,000 signatures required to force the government to hold a referendum

Switzerland will hold a referendum on whether to implement measures to ensure the country’s population does not exceed 10 million people after a right-wing party garnered enough signatures to initiate a public vote on stricter immigration controls.

The populist Swiss People’s Party (UDC) submitted to the Federal Chancellery on Wednesday a petition that complied with the requirements necessary for the government to call a referendum.

Under Switzerland’s direct democracy system, referenda on any issue can be called should a petition reach 100,000 signatures within 18 months of its launch. The UDC harvested 114,600 signatures in just nine months in its bid for the government to implement “sustainable demographic development” by ensuring the permanent resident population of Switzerland does not exceed 10 million people by 2050.

Under the proposal, the Swiss government would have to take urgent measures as soon as the permanent resident population exceeds 9.5 million by, for example, suspending the ability for migrants to obtain residence permits, Swiss citizenship, or any other right to stay in the country.

The move could also see Switzerland forced to withdraw from international treaties including its bilateral agreement with the European Union on free movement and the U.N. Global Compact for Migration.

Commenting on the collection of the signatures, UDC leader Marco Chiesa said he was “proud and honored” to fight for the future of Switzerland’s “direct democracy and the next generations.”

In a post on Facebook, the Swiss politicians said the initiative “serves to preserve our values: independence, direct democracy, sovereignty, and freedom. But it is also a policy in the municipalities that guarantees the safety, services, and well-being of all of us.”

“Since 2023, for the first time, more than 9 million people have been living in our country,” said UDC National Councilor and Group Chairman Thomas Aeschi. “Last year, an additional 98,851 people immigrated to our country. Added to this are more than 30,000 asylum seekers.”

The right-wing populist party said that rising immigration had resulted in “housing shortages and rising rents, traffic jams on the roads, crowded trains and buses, falling standards of schools, increasing violence and crime, electricity shortages, income stagnating per capita, ever-higher health insurance premiums, indebted social services, and increased pressure on the beauty of the landscape and the preservation of nature.”

The initiative is the latest attempt by the UDC to force the issue on immigration, having had a similar referendum rejected in 2020 to suspend the free movement of people with the European Union by 62 percent to 38.
