Automatic Draft Registration Passes House of Representatives
All men aged between 18 and 26 will be automatically registered for the Selective Service System (SSS), which is used for military drafts, under a new bill that passed the House of Representatives on Friday.
The National Defense Authorization Act for the 2025 Fiscal Year passed by a vote of 217-209. It includes provisions to increase pay for serving military members, reduce wasteful spending, bolster NATO funding, and counter “aggressive actions taken by Russia and China,” according to a press release.
The SSS hasn’t been used for over half a century, since the Vietnam War, but men who fail to register face various penalties, including forfeiture of eligibility for federal programs and even jail time.
In recent years, the number of men avoiding registration has increased, in part because registration options were removed from the federal student-loan process.
There are fears that the automatic system will be used for a draft in the near future if America enters a state of open war with Russia or China—or both.
Among those who voted against the bill were Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who explained her decision in a post on Twitter.
“Today I voted NO on the NDAA. While there were many great things in the bill, it still allocates the annual $300 million to the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative which is used to fund the war in Ukraine. I am adamantly opposed to the war in Ukraine and I do not think funding a foreign war should be a mandatory annual funding requirement in our US military funding bill. The House also passed a measure automatically registering men aged 18 to 26 for selective service as part of the NDAA. I think we all know where that could lead.”
Reps. Thomas Massie and Matt Rosendale were also notable Republican opponents of the bill.
The bill will now advance to the Senate.

Transgender Swimmer Lia Thomas’s Former Team-Mate Demands Apology for Being ‘Forced to Undress With Him 18 Times a Week’
Paula Scanlan has welcomed the news that her former team-mate Lia Thomas will not be allowed compete at the Olympic Games and says she should receive an apology for being “forced to undress” with the transgender athlete “18 times a week”. The Mail has the story.
It was announced on Wednesday afternoon that the 25-year-old swimmer would not be permitted compete in the Olympic Games after losing her legal battle to have the rules barring her potential involvement overturned.
Scanlan took to social media shortly after verdict was revealed to demand an apology, writing the following on X: “Okay, but is anyone going to apologise for forcing us to undress with him 18 times a week?”
Thomas first caught the headlines in March 2022 when he became the first trans-athlete to win the women’s NCAA college swimming title – the USA’s most prestigious college title.
But, it wasn’t long before the World Aquatics (WA) introduced a rule change that would prevent anyone who had undergone “any part of male puberty” from competing in the female category.
Instead, it created an ‘open’ category for which transgender athletes would be eligible. However, the decision didn’t sit well with Thomas – who asked for the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn the rules approved in 2022.
Thomas – who swam for Pennsylvania’s men’s team for three seasons before beginning hormone replacement therapy in early 2019 – said that the rules were invalid, unlawful and discriminatory.
However, the CAS panel consisting of three judges dismissed Thomas’s request for arbitration with the World Aquatics governing body and threw the case out on a ‘technicality’.
It said that Thomas was “simply not entitled to engage with eligibility to compete in WA competitions such as the Olympics or world championships” because he was no longer a part of U.S. swimming.
As a result, the decision ended Thomas’s hopes of competing at the Olympic Games – which the 25-year-old referred to as “deeply disappointing” in a statement provided by his legal team.

The Biden administration has been sending unaccompanied immigrant children to false addresses, according to a shocking report from citizen journalists at Muckraker.com.
In a preview of a much wider report to be released soon, journalists from Muckraker travelled to a house in Amityville, Long Island, where two unaccompanied children were apparently delivered to a sponsor. But the house is derelict and has clearly been unoccupied for a significant period of time—probably years if not decades.

Muckraker has received details of thousands of addresses unaccompanied migrant children have been sent to since 2021. The wider report will investigate these addresses in detail and feature testimony from children who have been delivered by the federal government to sponsors. It promises to “expose the horrors of the Biden administration’s unaccompanied children program.”
Muckraker continues to raise worrying questions about the role of the Biden administration in facilitating child trafficking into and within the United States. Around 85,000 unaccompanied migrant children have simply gone missing since Joe Biden became president, Muckraker claims.
Back in October of last year, Muckraker obtained exclusive footage of federal contractors delivering children across the United States.
A Twitter post accompanying the footage explained: “Muckraker has obtained exclusive never-before-seen footage of US federal government contractors escorting children across the country, possibly delivering them into the hands of human traffickers. At least one of these contractors is CIA-affiliated.”
The US federal government, the post continued, is “facilitating the largest child trafficking ring in the world.”
