Davos Elitist Says Climate ‘Transition’ Not Possible Without ‘Globally Coordinated Carbon Taxes’

adminJan 20, 20243 min read
“What we need is a system of carbon taxes coupled with subsidies for developing households and a stream of funding for the developing world,” says Saudi Arabian Finance Minister.

The green agenda cannot occur at scale without carbon taxes imposed on a global level, claimed Saudi Arabia’s Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan.

During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum’s annual Davos summit on Friday, Al-Jadaan argued that carbon taxes are the only way to generate the revenue necessary to reach the UN’s Sustainable Development goals.

“There is no realistic solution to the climate transition that does not involve a globally coordinated system of carbon taxes,” he said.

Al-Jadaan dismissed critics who claim global carbon taxes are unfair and inflationary, arguing that “vulnerable communities” will suffer from “climate change” the most if they’re not enacted.

“There’s a perception that it’s unjust, it’s unfair, it’ll lead to inflation. In fact, quite the contrary. If we don’t do this, the countries that will suffer most ultimately are the developing countries. They’re going to be the worst affected by climate change,” he said.

Al-Jadaan then insisted that taxpayers in developed countries subsidize funding for third world nations so they can pursue their own climate goals.

“What we need is a system of carbon taxes coupled with subsidies for developing households and a stream of funding for the developing world. to allow them to engage in investments and mitigations and adaption that allows them to keep growing. And that’s a real opportunity,” he explained.

“It’s a fair solution and it’s the only realistic solution, and we can’t keep ducking it,” he added.

Joe Biden has committed the US to adhere to the UN’s climate goals of reducing carbon emissions by at least 50% by 2030.

Congress this week also took a step toward passing an “inflationary” carbon tax after a Senate committee voted to propose a study aimed at calculating the carbon emissions of a range of products made in the U.S. and elsewhere.

“On Jan. 18, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted to send a proposed law to the full Senate that would require the federal government to conduct a study calculating the carbon emissions of a broad range of different products made in America and other countries. These include construction materials, plastics, and fertilizers—all vital to small businesses and corporations that power the economy,” the Daily Signal reported Friday.

‘We Owned The News’: WSJ Editor-in-Chief Laments Death of Public Trust in Mainstream Media

“Nowadays, people can go to all sorts of different sources for the news, and they’re much more questioning about what we’re saying,” says Emma Tucker at WEF Davos summit.

The Wall Street Journal’s Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker reminisced about a better time when the public unquestioningly believed anything the mainstream media told them, lamenting that those days are over.

Tucker explained Friday at the World Economic Forum’s annual Davos meeting that the rise of alternative media has destroyed the corporate media’s monopoly on information.

“If you go back not that long ago, We owned the news. We were the gatekeepers, and we very much owned the facts as well,” Tucker said during a panel on “Defending Truth.”

“If it said it in the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times, then that was a fact. Nowadays, people can go to all sorts of different sources for the news, and they’re much more questioning about what we’re saying.”

“So it’s no longer good enough for us to say this is what happened, or this is the news. We almost have to explain our working. So readers expect to understand how we source stories, they want to know how we go about getting stories,” she continued.

“We have to sort of lift the bonnet as it were in a way that newspapers aren’t used to doing and explain to people what we’re doing. We need to be much more transparent about how we go about collecting the news,” Tucker added.

Her remarks track with the Davos meeting’s theme this year of “Rebuilding Trust” amid a collapse of public trust in major institutions following the Covid plandemic.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen claimed at Davos that “disinformation and misinformation” were the gravest threats of 2024 and called for collaboration between governments and corporations to fight against “industrial-scale disinformation” that imperils the establishment’s official narratives.

Trump Shuts Down Nikki Haley VP Rumors: She ‘Puts America Last’

“Now, when I say that, that probably means that she’s not going to be chosen as the vice president,” says former president.

Former President Donald Trump set the record straight and dismissed Nikki Haley as a possible vice presidential candidate amid rumors the former South Carolina governor was on his VP short list.

“You have people that put America last. And Nikki is somebody that puts America last,” Trump told the crowd at a rally in Concord, New Hampshire on Friday.

Trump expressed his disappointment in Haley’s performance as his ambassador to the United Nations during his first term.

“I used to watch her when we were dealing with different countries, like Russia or China, and she was sitting there like, what the hell?” Trump said.

“Look, one of the reasons I did, because I happen to love the lieutenant governor, Henry McMaster, South Carolina. By the way, he’s been a fantastic governor. Henry’s been a fantastic governor. So, I did him a favor. He was with me all the way. I did him a favor, but I did it because he’s good and he’s been very popular,” Trump explained.

Trump went on to that Haley “was okay, but she is not presidential timber.”

“Now, when I say that, that probably means that she’s not going to be chosen as the vice president,” he said.

“When you say certain things, it sort of takes them out of play, right?” he added.

“I can’t say, ‘She’s not of the timber to be the vice president’ and then say, ‘Ladies and gentleman, I’m proud to announce that I’ve picked.’”

Haley has frequently parroted the left’s politically correct and woke talking points in recent years, and also criticized Trump on numerous occasions.

In the aftermath of January 6, 2021, Haley even claimed that Trump has no political future left in the Republican Party.

Haley and DeSantis are the last GOP presidential candidates standing ahead of the New Hampshire primary election next week, where Trump is currently polling at 50%, and Haley in distant second at 34%.

‘This Really Pi**es Me Off’: Jerry Seinfeld Shuts Down Woke Journo for Complaining About Number of White People in His Web Series

adminJan 20, 20242 min read
“I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that,” says legendary comedian.

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld took a buzzsaw to a far-left journalist who complained that his show “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” has too many white people.

In a resurfaced 2014 clip that’s going viral, Seinfeld’s interview with Buzzfeed’s Peter Lauria took a turn after the woke journalist began pestering him about the high number of white guests on his web series.

“Take a look over here, Peter. What do you see?” Seinfeld jokingly asked as he pointed to the studio audience. “A lot of whiteys. What’s going on here?”

“Oh, this really pisses me off,” Seinfeld said. “But go ahead. Really pisses me off. People think it’s the census or something, it’s gotta represent the actual pie chart of America.”

“Who cares? Funny is the world I live in,” he continued. “You’re funny, I’m interested. You’re not funny, I’m not interested.”

“And I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that. But everyone else is kind of, with there calculating, ‘is this the exact right mix?’ To me, that’s anti-comedy,” he added.

Seinfeld stopped performing comedy at university campuses years ago over their oppressive cancel culture and political correctness.
