Australia’s Chief Censor to Force Online Digital ID Within Six Months

It’s really a no-brainer both for politicians and those crafting the wording and perception of their policies.
Namely – if you want genuinely complex and controversial initiatives (such as those related to mass surveillance and privacy infringements) fast-tracked both in legislatures and the media/public, just frame them as geared toward “child safety.”
Job done. Not many will even attempt to stand up to this, even if arguments in favor are patently disingenuous.
One gets the sense this is what Australia’s “chief censor” – eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant – is there to do – and she seems to understand her assignment well. Whether she succeeds, though, is a whole different question.
For right now, Grant is not letting up on trying to attack online security and privacy via demands for swift implementation of age verification schemes by online platforms.
Grant is now setting a six-month deadline and threatening mandatory codes unless these platforms play along.
It might bear repeating, and louder, “for the people in the back”: The only way to truly verify anyone’s age online is for adults with a government-issued ID to present a copy of it to the platforms ruling the internet – ruled by governments.
This effectively destroys online anonymity, and in many countries and under many regimes, people’s (physical) safety.
To her “credit” – Grant does seem to always be more concerned about how her initiatives are perceived, rather than what they actually realistically can achieve.
And so reports say her latest push is to have online platforms implement age verification over the next six months or be forced to do so by a “mandatory code.”
The alternative to the country enforcing “child safety rules” is that these rules will eventually be imposed.
(The rules in question are related to access to pornography but also “other inappropriate” content; “suicide,” and “eating disorders” are lumped into this, and, it’s unclear if “eating disorders” as defined by Grant, include only undereating, or overeating as well.)
Effectively, Grant has set October 3 of this year as the deadline for tech companies to tell the Australian government how they plan to implement their own “codes” – before the government does it for them. As any good democratic government does /s.
The scope of the envisaged standards is quite wide: standards for “app stores, websites including pornography and dating websites, search engines, social media platforms, chat services, and even multi-player gaming platforms check(ing) that content is suitable for users,” Grant is quoted.
Actress Lea DeLaria Calls on Biden to Assassinate Trump: ‘This is a War’

Another Hollywood windbag suffered a social media meltdown this week following the Supreme Court’s executive immunity ruling.
Actress and “professional lesbian” Lea DeLaria, 66, uploaded a hate-filled video speech to Instagram calling on Joe Biden to take advantage of the ruling by assassinating Donald Trump, whom she described as a genocidal dictator.
“Trump is Hitler, and this is 1940,” DeLaria wrote, apparently confused about identities and dates. “Take him the **** out.”
Many Trump haters are under the impression that the Supreme Court’s ruling allows Biden, in theory, to assassinate Trump as an “official act” of office, that way Biden is immune from prosecution for murdering the former president.
“Joe, you’re a reasonable man,” DeLaria added in a post that as of this writing has about 9,000 likes. “You don’t want to do this. But here’s the reality: This is a *******war. This is a war now, and we are fighting for our ******* country. And these ******** are going to take it away. They’re going to take it away.”
DeLaria proceeded to mock the conservative justices on the court who voted in favor of the immunity provision, including Supreme Court Justice Clarence “Uncle” Thomas, as she denigratingly called him using racist language.
“Joe, you now have the right to take that ***** Trump out. Take him out, Joe. If he was Hitler, and this was 1940, would you take him out? Well, he is Hitler … Take him the **** out! Blow him up, or they’ll blow us up. Facts.”
(Related: Immediately following Biden’s embarrassing debate performance, the DNC announced plans to fast-track an early nomination for Biden to ensure he doesn’t get replaced.)
DeLaria had a meltdown in 2016, too
DeLaria continued her hateful rant in the comments on her post, warning again that this is a “war” and that “they will destroy us,” referring to Trump and his supporters.
“They only want power … like all tyrants,” she said. “****THEM!!! And if any of you ******** wanna death threat me like you have been doing for my entire life, bring it on *****. I’m Sicilian, I know how to play that game.”
DeLaria’s video did not go over so well with social media users, most of whom called her out for her hatred.
“Did you just publicly call for the president of the United States to murder his political opponent?” one asked. “If you want 3rd world stuff to happen, move to a third world country.”
This is hardly the first time that DeLaria has made her hatred from Trump and his supporters known on social media. Back in 2016 after Trump won the election, DeLaria posted that she wanted to “pick up a baseball bat and take out every ******* Republican and Independent I see.”
Others wrote that DeLaria is guilty of “domestic terrorism” for her post, which has not yet been flagged or removed as hateful content that violates Instagram’s community guidelines.
“You’re kidding me right????” asked another. “This country is in shambles and the normal working Americans are struggling, but of course those of you in hollyweird don’t live in reality.”
Another tagged the FBI and asked if anything is being done to investigate DeLari for “inciting violent acts on a former sitting president.”
“Shouldn’t content like this be taken down and this person banned?” someone else asked of Instagram.
“Secret Service should pay her a big, beautiful visit for making threats against President Trump,” said another, noting that DeLaria is one of those people who “preach peace, love, equality, etc. – but only if you agree with them since they are unhinged weirdos.”

German Soccer Legend: Germany “Is Not the Same as It Was 10 Years Ago” Because of Migration

German soccer legend Toni Kroos has said that he will stay living in Madrid because “uncontrolled” migration has changed Germany for the worse and made it unsafe for girls and woman to walk the streets at night.
“I still think Germany is a great country. I like to be there, but it’s not quite the same as it was 10 years ago,” Kroos said in an interview with ZDF, the German public broadcaster.
“If I compare it to Spain. I have a seven-year-old daughter, for example. When she gets older, when she is 13, 14, 15 years old. And if I were to ask someone now, would you let your daughter out in Spain at 2 pm or in the German big city?
“I don’t want to be too general, but ten years ago I would have had a very conscious feeling that she would come home unharmed. I wouldn’t have that now.”
Kroos added that German society has become “much more aggressive in the last ten years,” with the principal reason being “uncontrolled” migration.
A recent poll showed that 74% of Germans are now concerned about levels of migration into their country, believing that the government is failing to take action. Just shy of 70% said that there needs to be less migration, including legal migration.
Official crime statistics show that migrants are responsible for a shockingly disproportionate amount of crime in Germany, especially violent crime. Statistics from the Federal Interior Ministry show that 41% of all crime suspects in 2023 were foreign nationals, despite making up just 15% of the population. Knife crime has soared by 30% in a single year, with well over half of all suspects being migrants.
Kroos announced his retirement from soccer after his nation’s shock exit from the Euro 2024 tournament, which is being held in Germany.

Advertiser Alliance Members are Called to Testify After Allegations of Efforts to ‘Demonetize & Censor Disfavored Viewpoints’

The Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) is back in the headlines big time – what with the recent decision of X to rejoin the group, and now, as anticipated, the US Congress is stepping up its attempts to shed more light on what GARM actually does, censorship-wise.
Once again it is House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan who is trying to hold Big Tech – and in this case, “the advertising industrial complex” as it were – accountable.
GARM is a World Economic Forum (WEF)-affiliated initiative, launched by the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA); the latter by its own admission represents more than 150 biggest brands and over 60 advertiser associations around the world.
“Brand safety” is what the group says it is offering to these clients. But Jordan, and many conservatives and media outlets and businesses – allied or perceived to be allied with them – have strong suspicions that GARM can and is being used as yet another avenue of censorship and suppression – this time via actions that result in demonetization or boycott of those who hold “disfavored views.”
Concerning GARM, Jordan started fighting what supporters must see as “the good fight” last year (first by requesting information and then by issuing a subpoena once that was ignored).
Then, this March, the Committee sent letters to five members of the GARM Steering Team including Unilever and GroupM (a media investment group) asking for access to documents and communications that might prove the overall anti-conservative bias executed by the imitative.
We obtained a copy of the letter for you here.
Jordan was not in the mood to sugarcoat the issue, as he sees it: “This coordination does not always revolve around ‘brand safety’ and ‘harmful’ content as GARM publicly claims, but instead the desire to censor conservative and other views that GARM members disfavor,” he wrote, adding that this results in content creators losing revenue, in a way that may be illegal and collusive under the Sherman (antitrust) Act.
In late June, Jordan wrote to Unilever again, and the inclusion of GroupM is pertinent given that the March letter mentioned several leading conservative media outlets as alleged targets of this conduct.
The letter is asking top representatives of the two corporations to publicly testify regarding the Committee’s misgivings around their activities.
According to a Committee spokesman’s comments made in March, “everything is on the table” in case of non-compliance with this series of requests – including more subpoenas, and congressional hearings.

Ukraine Asks West for Submarines

Ukraine needs Western submarines to bolster its military capabilities in the Black Sea, Navy chief Admiral Aleksey Neizhpapa, has said.
He argued that deploying underwater craft could strategically improve Ukraine’s positions across the Black Sea during the conflict with Russia.
“We are thinking about it, submarines are necessary for us, they should be part of the navy,” Neizhpapa said in an interview with journalist Natalya Moseychuk, posted on her YouTube channel on Saturday.
The head of the Ukrainian navy added that the country does not need large submarines, as “they are useless in the Black Sea.”
“Locating only near Odessa means having nothing, we should look further, spread the fleet throughout the Black Sea and use its entire area,” he said, expressing hope that Ukraine would turn “from a coastal state into a maritime power.”
Since the Russia-Ukraine conflict erupted in February 2022, Western states have supplied vast quantities of weapons to Kiev, while denying direct involvement in the hostilities. However, with the fighting well into its third year, there have been numerous reports of dwindling support, with delays in arms and ammunition deliveries.

Earlier this week, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky said in an interview with Bloomberg that US weapons were taking too long to reach the country, despite Congress approving a $61 billion assistance package in April.
NATO diplomats told the agency that the US-led military bloc had agreed to provide at least €40 billion ($43 billion) in military aid for Ukraine per year, without specifying how long the aid would continue.
