“A Military Impersonator”: Megyn Kelly Interviews Nat. Guard Veterans Who Served with Tim Walz
In an interview that will broadcast today, Megyn Kelly speaks to four members of the Minnesota National Guard who served with Tim Walz.
In an explosive series of highlights from the interview, none of the men hold back in their condemnation of Kamala Harris’s vice-president pick.
One veteran said that Walz’s behaviour in the Guard was “morally indefensible” and that Walz simply “didn’t care” about the men he was tasked with leading.
Another veteran describes the reaction to the news that Walz had decided to retire from his position as command sergeant major on the eve of his batallion’s deployment to Iraq in 2004.
“The rumor went across the state that he had quit, and it was like, ‘Who the hell does that?’ I mean, it was just unbelievable that a CSM abandoned his troops. You know, five hundred soldiers, basically. But beyond that there’s a thousand parents out there that expect that person to lead those people into combat.”
“If you sold out your Guard unit and abandoned them, what are you going to do at the national level?” the veteran added.
The veteran who described Walz’s behaviour as “morally indefensible” also called him a “habitual liar” who “lies about stuff that doesn’t even make sense,” and then went on to label Walz a coward.
“Fear is a reaction; bravery is a decision. And Walz has made the wrong decision. He’s not brave. I call him a coward—because he is.”

Tim Walz has faced devastating accusations regarding his two-decade service in the Minnesota National Guard, including that he lied about his retirement rank, claimed to have served overseas in a warzone when he never did, and, perhaps most damaging of all, that he abandoned his battalion when they were due to deploy to Iraq.
The former commander of Walz’s batallion in the Minnesota National Guard, John Kolb, wrote a long post about the Minnesota governor on Facebook, describing him as a poor leader and a coward.
“I do not regret that Tim Walz retired early from the Minnesota Army National Guard, did not complete the Sergeants Major Academy, broke his enlistment contract or did not successfully complete any assignment as a Sergeant Major. Unwittingly, he got out of the way for better leadership.
“Thomas Behrends was the right leader at the right time. He sacrificed to answer the call, leaving his family, business and farming-partner brother to train, lead and care for soldiers. He earned the privilege of being called Command Sergeant Major. Like a great leader he ran toward and not away from the guns.”

60% of Infant and Toddler Foods in the US Do Not Meet Nutritional Standards
A significant majority of infant and toddler foods in the US do not meet international nutritional standards, according to a new study.
Researchers from the University of New South Wales, Australia, looked at 651 infant and toddler foods for sale in the top eight US supermarket chains.
Around 60% of the food products studied did not meet nutritional guidelines. 70% did not meet protein guidelines and 44% had more sugar than is recommended. 25% did not meet calorie requirements.
The researchers singled out infant and toddler foods in squeezable pouches, which are designed to allow infants to be fed without the use of a spoon. Just 7% of pouch products tested met sugar recommendations.
In addition, the researchers found almost all of the products were deceptively labelled in some way. 99.4% of the products tested contained at least one false claim on their packaging, and some products had as many as 11.
The researchers conclude that “these findings highlight that urgent work is needed to improve the nutritional quality of commercially produced infant and toddler foods in the United States. The high use of prohibited claims also suggests the need to regulate the type and number of claims allowed on-pack.”

A study from last year found that microwaveable baby-food pouches release millions or even billions of microplastic particles into the food when they are heated. Childhood exposure to microplastics and harmful plastic chemicals like BPA and phthalates, including via food, has become a subject of increasing worry in recent years. Microplastics and plastic chemicals have been linked to a wide array of negative health conditions, from reproductive issues and infertility, to chronic digestive dysfunction, obesity and diabetes and neurobehavioural issues, including autism.

“Historic Success” for AfD in German Regional Elections
The populist anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) is on course for a series of stunning victories in elections in the German states of Saxony and Thuringia.
In Saxony, exit polls suggest the AfD will come a close second to the conservative CDU, with 31% and 32% of the vote respectively. Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats (SDP) could only manage a measly 7% of the vote.
In Thuringia, the AfD fared even better and is on course to win, with 33% of the vote. The CDU placed a distant second, on 24%, and the SDP did even worse, with 6%.
The AfD’s stunning successes can be attributed to young and working-class voters. The AfD won the most votes from young voters in both states and over 50% of the working-class vote. The party didn’t do quite as well with pensioners however, more of whom voted for the CDU.

In response to the victories, AfD leader Alice Weidel said that they were an “historic success,” and that she believed voters have given the AfD a mandate to govern.
“Without the AfD, it is impossible to form a stable government.”
The conservative CDU has ruled out the possibility of forming a coalition with the AfD.
The AfD has risen to prominence in recent years as a result of Germany’s deepening social crisis as a result of mass migration. The growth of the party has been greeted with dismay by Germany’s ruling elites and there have been persistent suggestions that the party might be banned. AfD politicians and supporters have been subject to legal sanctions, intimidation and violence.

“Where Were They?” Sen. Cotton Blasts Biden and Harris for Arlington Absence
Senator Tom Cotton blasted Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for their absence at Arlington National Cemetery to honour the servicemen and -women killed during the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan, three years ago.
Cotton appeared on MSNBC on Sunday to defend Donald Trump against accusations that he had politicised the ceremony and used his presence there as part of his political campaign, by taking photos with the families.
“These families—Gold Star families—whose children died because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s incompetence, invited [Trump] to the cemetery, and they asked him to take those photos,” Cotton said.
“You know who those families also invited? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
“Where were they? Joe Biden was sitting at a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in Washington, DC.”
“She was 4 miles away — 10 minutes,” Cotton said, referring to Harris, whose resident is in the grounds of the US Naval Observatory. “She could’ve gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those young men and women, but she hasn’t.
“She never has spoken to them or taken a meeting with them,” he continued.
Cotton went on to blame Biden and Harris directly for the deaths of the 13 service members during the withdrawal from Kabal airport.
“It is because of her and Joe Biden’s incompetence that those 13 Americans were killed in Afghanistan.”
Senator Cotton’s remarks came after the Gold Star families issued a blistering series of video statements against Kamala Harris on social media.
In one of those videos, Herman Lopez, father of corporal Hunter Lopez, told the Vice President that she her claim to be a supporter of the US military, and of the families of fallen service members, was totally false.
“You indicated in your post that you support the military and military families,” Mr Lopez said in his video, posted to Twitter.
“I for one have not seen that support. It’s been three years since my son was killed in action, and myself, my family and other Gold Star families have not seen any support from you or your administration.
“You may make all the promises about the economy or anything else you would like to make promises about, but the one thing I ask of you, and the reason I’m making this message, is for you to stop making comments about your support for the military. As a Gold Star father I know that you have not supported us, that you have not supported other Gold Star families.
Mr Lopez added, “Your words are hollow and empty.”
On Saturday, the Vice President issued a statement condemning Donald Trump for filming a video during a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, last Monday.
“As Vice President, I have had the privilege of visiting Arlington National Cemetery several times. It is a solemn place; a place where we come together to honor American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of this nation,” Harris Tweeted.
“It is not a place for politics.
“And yet, as was reported this week, Donald Trump’s team chose to film a video there, resulting in an altercation with cemetery staff. Let me be clear: the former president disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt.”
Harris went on to describe Trump as a “man who is unable to comprehend anything other than service to himself.”
She added, “it is my belief that someone who cannot meet this simple, sacred duty should never again stand behind the seal of the President of the United States of America.”
