Expecting Windfall From Wave of Cancer Patients, Pfizer Leases Huge Property in San Diego For Research And Development of Cancer Drugs
The oncology division of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has leased a huge property in San Diego as part of its efforts to redefine itself as a cancer-drug powerhouse.
This comes amid a noticeable increase in the number of people receiving cancer treatment in recent years, particularly after the global rollout of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.
Bloomberg News reported that Pfizer agreed to a 15-year lease for 230,000 square feet at the Torrey View life sciences complex in Silicon Beach, citing a statement by developer Breakthrough Properties. The drug manufacturer will occupy two research and development buildings at the 10-acre campus, which is nearing completion.
According to the statement, the property offers “high-quality lab infrastructure” along with a 400-person conference facility, ocean views and campus amenities such as a fitness center and pickleball court.
“Torrey View is an ideal campus for innovation,” Breakthrough Properties CEO Dan Belldegrun said in the March 15 statement. “Breakthrough is proud to support the Pfizer Oncology team as they continue to discover and develop next-generation therapies.”
The statement didn’t disclose the financial terms of the lease. But based on data from CBRE Group Inc. on average asking rents in the area, the total for the 15-year deal would be about $290 million.
According to CBRE, the Pfizer lease is more than double the size of any life-science deal in the San Diego area in 2023. That year, the largest single tenant was medical test kit maker Acon taking 97,162 square feet of real estate space.

The company added that San Diego is one of the largest centers for life-science research after Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area. However, demand for offices slowed down in 2023 as venture capital funding decreased.
Pfizer’s pivot away from Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) products and into cancer drugs comes at a crucial time. The New York-based drug firm has been trying to shore up investor sentiment after its shares fell more than 40 percent in 2023. This translated to an erasure of more than $100 billion in Pfizer’s market value.
Pfizer shifts to oncology drugs after COVID-19
According to CNBC, Pfizer is betting on cancer drugs to help it regain its footing after a rocky year marked by the rapid decline of its COVID-19 business. Its acquisition of cancer drug manufacturer Seagen for $43 billion proves that it is ready to move on from COVID-19. With the Seagen product line incorporated into Pfizer, the latter is ready to produce at least eight cancer drugs by 2030 and 60 different experimental drugs on the pipeline.
However, some analysts have noted that it might take a few years for some of Pfizer’s cancer drugs in mid-stage development to show pivotal clinical trial data and become less risky. But it’s not just drugs in the works; Pfizer’s existing oncology portfolio is also facing some competitive pressure.
Revenue from the blockbuster breast cancer drug Ibrance and prostate cancer treatment Xtandi, which Pfizer shares with Astellas Pharma, has declined over the past year. Both drugs are expected to lose market exclusivity in 2027.
Aside from this, Pfizer disappointed Wall Street last year with the underwhelming launch of a new RSV shot, a twice-daily weight loss pill that fell short in clinical trials and a 2024 forecast that missed expectations. The company has launched a $4 billion cost-cutting program, laying off hundreds of employees and shaving down its research and development spending.

Ukraine Makes Fresh Move to Draft More Soldiers
Ukrainian recruits deemed ‘fit for limited military service’ could soon be thrown into the thick of the fighting after the nation’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, moved to abolish the term altogether.
A bill to that effect was supported by the Rada on Thursday. According to the text, those who have been classified as fit for military service with restrictions would have to undergo a medical examination within the next nine months to determine their new health status, and whether they could be deployed to the front line.
Those deemed fit for limited service could only be called up during time of war, and are not supposed to fill frontline positions, being allowed to serve only in support and rear units. The push to change conscription legislation comes amid calls from numerous officials in Kiev that every Ukrainian citizen should serve his country during the conflict with Russia.
Commenting on the bill on national TV, Deputy Defense Minister Natalya Kalmykova said that medical commissions would no longer classify Ukrainian recruits as ‘fit for limited military service’. She argued that “this will make life easier for tens of thousands of people.”

“Both the service members and their relatives asked the Defense Ministry and other authorities to resolve this issue. We are very glad that the Verkhovna Rada has supported these changes,” she added.
Meanwhile, since late December, Ukrainian lawmakers have been mulling a controversial bill that would lower the minimum conscription age from 27 to 25 to compensate for battlefield losses, with reported plans to call up around 500,000 troops. In early February, the legislation was passed in its first reading after numerous amendments.
Later in the month, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu estimated Ukraine’s losses at more than 444,000 troops since the start of the conflict in February 2022. On Wednesday, the minister claimed that Kiev’s casualties had reached 71,000 troops this year alone, a figure he said was three times the losses during the same period last year.
However, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claimed in February that Kiev had sustained only 31,000 soldiers killed since the start of the conflict. He did not disclose how many were injured or missing in action.

Israel Accuses Biden of Trying to Topple Netanyahu After US President Said Israeli Prime Minister Needs to ‘Come To Jesus’
The latest intelligence assessment out of the United States suggests that the Biden regime here in America wants to remove the Netanyahu regime in Israel, this according to Israel’s most senior political source who spoke to Channel 12.
This “very senior” Israeli official, as he is described, retaliated against the intelligence assessment, which expresses concerns about the way Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is handling the war on Gaza. According to the official, Netanyahu’s government “may be in jeopardy” because of it.
After reading the intelligence assessment, the very senior official declared that “those who elect the prime minister of Israel are the citizens of Israel, and no one else.”
“Israel is not a protectorate of the U.S. but an independent and democratic country whose citizens are the ones who elect the government,” the official added. “We expect our friends to act to overthrow the terror regime of Hamas and not the elected government in Israel.”

Netanyahu left “fuming”
The Biden regime’s intelligence assessment of the Netanyahu regime states that there is growing “distrust” among members of the public concerning Netanyahu’s ability to rule effectively in Israel.
“Distrust of Netanyahu’s ability to rule has deepened and broadened across the public from its already high levels before the war, and we expect large protests demanding his resignation and new elections,” the assessment reads.
“A different, more moderate government is a possibility.”

The assessment goes on to note that despite Israel’s insistence that its response to the October 7 Hamas attack would be swift and guarantee “total victory,” the reality, according to the Biden regime, is that Hamas will likely pose a threat to Israel for years to come.
While the Israeli public “broadly supports” the destruction of Hamas, “Israel probably will face lingering armed resistance from Hamas for years to come, and the military will struggle to neutralize Hamas’s underground infrastructure, which allows insurgents to hide, regain strength and surprise Israeli forces,” the assessment continues.
It could very well be that the very senior official who spoke to Channel 12 was Netanyahu himself, seeing as how it was reported that reading the assessment left him “fuming.”
Netanyahu has since been reported to have “decided to embark upon strong, public and dramatic confrontations with the president of the United States” over the assessment.
At the same time, Netanyahu just appeared at the annual AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) lobbying gathering in Washington, D.C., to thank the Biden regime for its support.
Speaking on behalf of Israel, Netanyahu said he “deeply appreciate[s] the support we have received from President Biden and the administration, and I hope it will continue.”
“But let me be clear,” Netanyahu added. “Israel will win this war, no matter what,” adding that Israel “must destroy the remaining Hamas battalions in Rafah” in order to win the conflict.
“Hamas will regroup, reassemble and retake Gaza if that happens,” Netanyahu continued about what he believes will happen if Hamas is not rooted out of Rafah.
“That is an intolerable threat to our future, and we will not accept it. We will destroy Hamas, free our hostages and ensure that Gaza doesn’t pose a threat to Israel again.”
Netanyahu continues to claim that Israel is doing what it can to get civilians out of harm’s way before the Rafah operation commences.
“You cannot say you support Israel’s right to exist and to defend itself and then oppose Israel when it exercises that right,” Netanyahu added, broadsiding the U.S. and other allies who have expressed concerns about the high number of civilian deaths that have already occurred even before the Rafah operation.

STUDY: Widely Used HPV Injection Linked to 4 Autoimmune Disorders
A widely used human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine appears to be linked to four autoimmune disorders, according to a new study.
The study published March 7 in Vaccine compared the health records of nearly two million unvaccinated and vaccinated girls in the South American nation of Colombia over a 10-year period. The vaccinated girls were injected with a quadrivalent vaccine that targets four HPV strains. It found that, compared to their unvaccinated counterparts, the vaccinated girls were:
- 4.4 times more likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis
- 2.76 times more likely to develop juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- 2.86 times more likely to develop thyrotoxicosis
- 2.54 times more likely to develop idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
While the study did not name the quadrivalent vaccine used, it was reportedly widely used globally except the United States. Quadrivalent vaccines target four high-risk strains of HPV, while Merck’s Gardasil 9 vaccine – the only one distributed in the U.S. – targets nine strains. Merck does make a quadrivalent Gardasil vaccine, one of two licensed by the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the study authors, HPV vaccination rates in Colombia are extremely low due to the “lack of an efficacious screening program,” “lack of timely access to the health system in remote areas” and “widespread public misinformation regarding primary prevention in the adolescent population.”
They also cited “mistrust” that intensified in 2014 after 500 vaccinated girls in a small town called Carmen de Bolivar in the country’s Bolivar department – with videos of the girls being widely shared on the internet – reported adverse symptoms, including headache, paresthesia (tingling or prickling sensation on the extremities), shortness of breath, chest pain and fainting.
(Related: Federal “Vaccine Court”: Gardasil jab for HPV irrefutably linked to NARCOLEPSY.)
As public confidence in the vaccine plummeted, rates went from 80 percent of girls in 2012 to 14 percent and 5 percent for the first and second doses in 2016.
Colombian study proves that vaccines are far from being safe
“This is a stunning admission of the immune dysregulation caused by this vaccine,” said Children’s Health Defense (CHD) Chief Scientific Officer Brian Hooker. “At a minimum, this deserves more comprehensive investigation towards a decision whether to pull the vaccine entirely.”
“There are significantly higher levels of these four autoimmune disorders – in girls who weren’t diagnosed with the disorders before vaccination – in the vaccinated group. In other words, these significant odds ratios speak for themselves.”
According to CHD, the March 7 study “adds to a large body of peer-reviewed scientific literature from the U.S., Australia, Denmark and Sweden, France, Japan and Colombia and statistics published by public health agencies in each of these countries demonstrating associations between HPV vaccination and autoimmune conditions.”
Even the authors themselves acknowledged the lack of local studies to say that the quadrivalent HPV vaccine is indeed safe and effective.
Interestingly, the study was published on the final day of the Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Forum, held last March 5 to 7 at the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias. Bogota reportedly hosted the event as part of its commitment to catalyze national and global momentum “to eliminate cervical cancer,” as per CHD. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Bank committed nearly $600 million to expand global vaccination, screening and treatment in multiple countries, including Colombia.

US Indo-Pacific Command Chief Says ‘Very Concerned’ About China-Russia Relationship
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The partnership between Russia and China is a major concern for the US military as it changes the United States’ security environment, US Indo-Pacific Command chief John Aquilino said during a congressional hearing on Wednesday.
“That [Russia-China] cooperation from those two authoritarian nations puts us in a different security environment, so I’m very concerned about that,” Aquilino told the US Senate Armed Services Committee.
Aquilino said the China-Russia relationship is amplified by North Korea’s support for Russia in the form of ballistic missiles and other munitions and capabilities.
The China-Russia relationship is a way to counter the United States and its alliances with other nations in the Indo-Pacific region, he added.
US Reiterates Need for Hypersonic Weapons to Protect Guam
The US Indo-Pacific Command also reiterated that it needed hypersonic weapon capabilities in order to protect Guam.
“I’ve articulated the requirement and it’s been consistent for five years, which is a 360-degree integrated air and missile defense capability for Guam that would protect our citizens and protect the forces that we need, and that includes ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile threats,” Aquilino testified at the hearing.
Aquilino also said that these capabilities needed to be in place more quickly, ideally by 2027.
He added that it would not be destabilizing for the US to have offensive hypersonic capabilities in competition with China.
US Says China Would Like to Avoid War Over Taiwan
“My view is that China would absolutely like to assimilate Taiwan without a war,” Admiral Aquilino noted.
Aquilino said this was clear by China’s “increasingly aggressive, coercive campaign against Taiwan,” such as deploying more ships in its vicinity, crossing the Taiwan Straits centerline with its air assets, and adjusting its flight paths to be closer to the self-governing island. He noted that China had not ruled out the use of force against Taiwan.
He added that he did not think the Taiwanese would capitulate to the campaign.
Earlier, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China’s policy toward Taiwan was to seek peaceful reunification and that Beijing’s “red lines” were very clear, and that Taiwan will “never be allowed to secede from the motherland.”
Taiwan has been governed independently of mainland China since 1949. Beijing views the island as its province, while Taiwan – a territory with its own elected government – maintains that it is an autonomous country but stops short of declaring independence. Beijing opposes any official contact of foreign states with Taipei and considers Chinese sovereignty over the island indisputable.

Ethics Council: ‘Restricting Freedoms’ May be Necessary to Fight Climate Change
The government may be forced to limit the available choices for citizens in order to battle predicted ‘devastating consequences’ of climate change. That’s the message in an opinion titled “Climate Justice,” published on March 13th by the German Ethics Council.
In the opinion, the Ethics Council—a board of expert advisors established by German law—recommends actions to be taken by corporations, individuals, and the government to ensure the effects of climate change do not unjustly burden “those who are not so well-off.”
Primarily, the Ethics Council says, this should be done on a voluntary basis—through individual ”self-commitment as an expression of one’s individual freedom”—by, for example, “voluntarily abandoning certain vacation, consumption, or mobility practices.”
However, the Council’s statement continues (emphasis added),
On grounds of justice, it can be morally required to contribute to measures to tackle climate change. If one’s own exercise of freedom interferes in an unjust manner with the freedom and welfare of others or of future generations, for example through consumption that is harmful to the climate, the authorities may intervene with restrictions of freedom.
In other words: If you cannot be shamed into behaving in a way deemed morally correct by the elite, the government may simply have to force you. Flugscham, from the original Swedish flygskam, meaning “flight shame”—guilt about flying experienced by environmentally conscious travelers—is now an established word in the German vocabulary.
While the opinion states that the Ethics Council is opposed to suspending “democratic freedoms and processes” to reach the desired climate goals, the group says it largely falls to the government to provide the “supportive framework conditions” under which individuals can—as we say to the kids—make good choices.
These framework conditions, the opinion says, should among other things include lowered speed limits, increased “electromobility,” and increased CO2 taxes. The Council suggests a personal emissions limit that cannot be exceeded, and even “the ban on particularly climate-damaging products or services”—or, as Apollo News puts it: “a regulation as to who can buy what and to what extent.”
Defining climate change as a man-made (“due to, among other factors, the combustion of fossil fuels and the destruction of forests and moors since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution”) phenomenon, the organization also says Germany needs to take into account “the long history of colonialism and industrialisation” as well as “ongoing neo-colonial dependencies,” meaning
a distinction must be made between growth in countries of the global South that are catching up on development, and further growth of consumption and resource use in industrialised countries, and appropriate compensatory payments must be negotiated.
At a time when the former European industrial powerhouse barely has its nose above water, it’s questionable whether “compensatory payments” to the Global South is on the traffic light coalition’s radar, regardless of Ethics Council recommendations.
The Ethics Council is a 26-member independent organization representing diverse “scientific, medical, theological, philosophical, ethical, social, economic and legal concerns” intended to provide guidance for dealing with societal changes, “particularly in the field of life sciences and their application to humans.” Established in German law, the Ethics Council is tasked with, among other things, developing “statements and recommendations for political and legislative action,” and prepares its opinions based on its own decision, “on behalf of the German Bundestag or on behalf of the Federal Government.”
