Ransomware Attack on Blood Bank Forces Hundreds of Hospitals in Southeastern US to Activate Blood Shortage Protocols
OneBlood, a prominent non-profit blood donation center in Florida that serves hundreds of hospitals in the southeastern United States, has been targeted by a ransomware attack. Despite the attack, the organization continues to collect, test and distribute blood but at a “significantly reduced capacity.”
To address the disruptions, the blood bank adopted “manual processes and procedures to remain operational. However, these manual methods “take significantly longer to perform and impact inventory availability,” as explained by Susan Forbes, OneBlood’s senior vice president of Corporate Communications and Public Relations.
In an effort to manage the blood supply, the more than 250 hospitals served by OneBlood were forced to activate their critical blood shortage protocols.
OneBlood is figuring out the full extent of the cyber attack and what effect it has had on the organization’s data centers. As of press time, it is still not certain if customers’ personal information – such as test results, medical histories and blood types – have been compromised.
The attack on OneBlood is just the latest in a series of data breaches affecting the health care sector. Recently, a data breach of Kaiser Permanente is estimated to have affected roughly 13.4 million individuals, and a June report by data security firm SecurityScorecard warned that 34 percent of third-party data breaches in the U.S. in 2023 targeted health care organizations, far “outpacing every other sector.”

OneBlood provides safe, available and affordable whole blood, platelets and other blood products to hundreds of hospitals across Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The loss of OneBlood’s services could affect the health of thousands of patients across the Southeastern United States.
“The blood supply cannot be taken for granted,” said Forbes. “The situation we are dealing with is ongoing. If you are eligible to donate, we urge you to please make an appointment to donate as soon as possible.”
The situation has become increasingly precarious for OneBlood amid the onset of Hurricane Debby, at a time when OneBlood needs to expedite its processes.
“Manual processes take longer to perform,” said Forbes. “We felt the impact of this the most when it came to labeling blood for release to hospitals.”
“Blood drives are taking place, our donor centers have remained open, and we continue to see a tremendous response from OneBlood donors answering the call for blood donations,” said Forbes.
The organization added that there is an urgent need for O positive, O negative and platelet donations. OneBlood has received significant aid from other blood centers across the country led by the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies Task Force, which was formed to protect blood collection efforts in the event of natural disasters or acts of terrorism.
To aid in blood collection efforts, OneBlood’s 81 blood donation centers in 30 Florida counties are open to accept walk-ins, and the organization’s more than 250 “Big Red Buses” have been deployed across the state. These buses can often be seen at grocery store and shopping center parking lots, offering coupons, T-shirts and other merchandise to people willing to donate blood and platelets.

(LifeSiteNews) — Kamala Harris’s pick to be her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, is an aggressive leftist who since taking office has instituted a program to bribe teens with $200 VISA cards to take the COVID-19 jab while also offering a chance to win a $100,000 scholarship; signed an executive order making Minnesota a sanctuary for gender transitions; and signed into law a “right” to unlimited abortion putting the North Star State on par with the likes of North Korea according to pro-life leaders.
Walz bribed teens to take a dangerous experimental drug
In 2021, Walz announced that teens in his state who get their first COVID shot before November 30 were eligible to receive a $200 VISA gift card.
The program, aimed at 12–17-year-olds, is titled “Kids Deserve a Shot,” also includes a chance to win a $100,000 scholarship to attend a public or private Minnesota college.
The governor’s attempt at bribery was aimed at persuading kids who were otherwise disinclined to do so to take the COVID-19 jab which had already shown to have heightened risks for young people.
Without mentioning the documented risks, Walz encouraged young people via social media to go ahead and get vaccinated.
“Minnesota teens: Not only are you eligible to get vaccinated, but starting today, you can also get $200 AND a shot at a $100,000 college scholarship,” shouted a tweet from Walz.
“Tell your friends and head to [the Minnesota vaccine rewards website],” he urged.
Walz defended abortions until birth
In early 2023, the second term governor signed into law the so-called Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act which asserted a woman’s “fundamental right” to “continue the pregnancy and give birth, or obtain an abortion, and to make autonomous decisions about how to exercise this fundamental right.” The law declared that this “right” is contained in the Minnesota Constitution’s “principles of individual liberty, personal privacy, and equality;” and forbids localities from “regulat[ing] an individual’s ability to freely exercise the fundamental rights set forth in this section in a manner that is more restrictive than that set forth in this section.”
Pro-life activists were quick to denounce the new law.
“Let’s be clear: The PRO Act would mean it’s legal for any baby to be aborted, for any reason and at any time up to birth,” said Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life co-executive director Cathy Blaeser. “The absolutist extremism of this bill would put Minnesota in the company of just a handful of countries worldwide, among them China and North Korea. Mothers and babies deserve a far more humane and compassionate approach.”
Under the law, “a school counselor can take a student to an abortion clinic without their parents’ knowledge,” warns Tim Miller, executive director of Pro-Life Action Ministries Action. “An unborn child can be murdered up to one second before they leave their mother’s birth canal. There will be no requirement for an abortion to take place in a clinic setting and a doctor is no longer needed.”
Walz turned Minnesota into sanctuary for ‘gender transitions’
A few months later in 2023, Gov. Walz signed an executive order making the North Star State a sanctuary for gender transitions, including for residents of other states with more conservative laws.
“As states across the country move to ban access to gender-affirming care, we want LGBTQ Minnesotans to know they will continue to be safe, protected, and welcome in Minnesota,” Walz declared at the time. “In Minnesota, you will not be punished for seeking or providing medical care. This Executive Order delivers the urgent action that our LGBTQ Minnesotans deserve.”
Walz: A long history of leftist governance
As soon as the Harris camp let it be known that Walz was her VP running mate choice, social media lit up with posts drawing attention to his dark track record since becoming Minnesota Governor in 2019.
Former gubernatorial candidate Mike Murphy who challenged Walz in 2022 posted a video montage from his campaign which recounted what he deemed to be Walz’s “first term failures,” including locking down his entire state during the COVID-19 pandemic and permitting BLM riots to destroy Minnesota cities.
Murphy didn’t mince words, declaring on X that Kamala Harris had chosen “the worst, most careless Governor in history” as her running mate.

‘Weird dudes’
Walz, who previously served in Congress for 12 years, is credited with coining the odd phrase identifying all conservatives and Republicans as “weird dudes.”
“How often in 100 days do you get to change the trajectory of the world?” asked Walz during a recent “White Dudes for Harris” fundraising call. “How often in 100 days do you get to do something that’s going to impact generations to come?”
“And how often in the world do you make that bastard wake up afterwards and know that a Black woman kicked his a**, sent him on the road?” Walz asked.

(LifeSiteNews) — Senator JD Vance called Democrats “weird” for fighting to keep pornographic books available to kids in libraries.
President Trump’s running mate made the comments Saturday during a rally in Atlanta.
“We think it’s weird that Democrats want to put sexually explicit books in toddlers’ libraries,” Vance said. “We think it’s weird that the far-left wants to allow biological males to beat the living [expletive] out of women in boxing.”
This is likely in reference to an Algerian Olympic boxer who competes as a female, is listed as a female on a passport, but might have XY chromosomes.
“We think it’s weird for a presidential candidate to bail convicted murderers and rapists out of prison, and that’s what Kamala did,” Vance said.
While running for president in 2020, Harris promoted the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which aimed “to help bail Black Lives Matter rioters out of jail,” according to Fox News. The riots followed the May 2020 killing of a black man named George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.
As noted by Fox News, a Minnesota affiliate reported in August 2020 that the fund “bailed out defendants from Twin Cities jails charged with murder, violent felonies, and sex crimes.”

In many cases, states and local communities have moved to ensure children are not exposed to sexually explicit content by ensuring parents and other citizens can raise objections.
Legislation in Indiana, for example, allows citizens to file objections to books in school libraries that they find “obscene” or “harmful to minors,” as previously reported by LifeSiteNews. “The local school board would then have to review the request and discuss it at the next public school board meeting and establish an appeals process if it disagrees with the request,” LifeSiteNews reported.
School boards have even cut off speakers who were reading from the books in order to make a point – thus validating their concerns about the appropriateness of the materials.
However, a communications scholar who studies the news media has criticized the claims of widespread “book bans.”
“The major flaw in the argument warning about book bans is that the people who are questioning the content of a school curriculum or the children’s section of a public library aren’t really seeking to ‘ban’ books,” DePauw University Professor Jeffrey McCall wrote in The Hill last October. The issue is simply what is suitable for the intended audience of kids. Children are vulnerable in a broad sense. That’s why kids are already protected from many societal influences, let alone being prohibited from buying cigarettes, alcohol and so on.”
Professor McCall pointed out that “[p]arents who want their kids exposed to certain kinds of sexualized or cultural messages can still acquire those books and read them to their kids as bedtime stories.”
However, there is no “‘right’ to have the taxpayer money of schools and public libraries used to put that content in front of other people’s kids and attempt to shut up opposing voices.”
He also pointed out there is always “discretion” in book choices made by “professional educators and librarians.”
In 2021 Vance told Crisis Magazine that he thinks pornography should be banned.
“I think the combination of porn, abortion have basically created a really lonely, isolated generation that isn’t getting married, they’re not having families, and they’re actually not even totally sure how to interact with each other,” he said.
