Glyphosate was found in the semen of 60% of infertile men in a French study

French researchers have detected the herbicide glyphosate in human semen for the first time, in concentrations that are four times higher than in the blood. Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Bayer’s Roundup product, has been linked to a wide variety of negative health effects, including cancer and reproductive toxicity.

Details of the worrying discovery are reported in a study in the journal Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety.

The researchers looked at samples of seminal fluid and blood from 128 male partners of infertile couples who were otherwise without any chronic illnesses or physical abnormalities. The men were aged 26-57 years.

Out of the 128 men sampled, 73 had levels of glyphosate in their blood and semen that were above the lower limit of quantification. Glyphosate levels in semen were found to be nearly four times higher than in blood.

Of those 73 patients who had detectable levels of glyphosate in their samples, blood and sperm concentrations of the chemical were not significantly different between patients living in the city and countryside, nor did they differ much between patients eating organic and non organic food. However, smokers had blood and seminal plasma concentrations twice as high as non-smokers, and farm workers had higher levels than those working in service-sector and transport jobs. The patient with the highest sperm glyphosate concentration was a farm worker.

No correlation was found between sperm counts and glyphosate concentration.

Users of glyphosate and people exposed to the chemical have filed massive class-action lawsuits against its manufacturer, Bayer, which bought Monsanto in 2016. As at March 2024, nearly 100,000 lawsuits filed against Monsanto and Bayer have been settled for approximately $11 billion. There are still as many as 54,000 Roundup lawsuits active at this time.

The chemical remains legal in the US, and the EPA classes it as having “low toxicity for people.”

Harrison Butker had received significant criticism for his comments addressed to female graduands at a Catholic college

Bill Maher defended Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker on his show on Friday night, after remarks made by the sports star at a college graduation landed him in hot water with liberals.

At Benedictine College last weekend, Butker told graduands and especially female graduands that, for many of them, getting married and starting a family would be the most exciting and fulfilling thing they would go on to do.

“How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world. ButI would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

He also spoke negatively about Pride month and abortions.

The backlash was immediate after video of the speech found its way to social media. Butker’s speech was described as “misogynistic” and a “textbook case of conservative sexism and homophobia” by Vox.

The NFL distanced itself from Butker’s remarks in an official statement: “His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

On his show on Friday night, Bill Maher defended Butker against his critics and those who are trying to make him “history’s greatest monster.”

“I don’t see what the big crime is, I really don’t. And I think this is part of the problem people have with the left is that lots of people in this country are like this.”

Maher then scolded leftists for believing their way is the only way to live.

“I feel like they feel very put upon, like, there’s only one way to be a good person, and that’s to get an advanced degree from one of those a**hole factories like Harvard.”

He also ripped college students for their hypocrisy in condemning Butker and supporting Hamas.

“The college kids and the young people find this [women staying home and having children] absolutely abhorrent. But they’re demonstrating for Hamas who make that a law.”

Wearing a mask did nothing to reduce the spread of the Omicron variant, according to new research out of the UK

Wearing face coverings did nothing to reduce the risk of infection by the Omicron variant of COVID, according to a new study from the University of East Anglia.

The researchers used data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) COVID survey in England which estimated how many people had infections.

From November 2021 to May 2022, the ONS also asked individuals about their circumstances and habits—including mask-wearing, work habits and travel—to see if those factors could be linked to risk of positivity.

By analysing this data, the researchers found that wearing face coverings did not reduce the risk of infection by the Omicron variant at all.

The researchers claim, however, that during the first wave of COVID-19, before the emergence of the Omicron variant, wearing a mask was associated with a decreased risk of infection.

Co-author Dr. Julii Brainard said, “This isn’t totally surprising because laboratory evidence suggests that the omicron variant was better able to infect the cells lining the upper respiratory tract than previous variants and so be more transmissible.”

The value of wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 has been a source of some controversy, not least of all because of initial warnings during the pandemic from experts and government officials not to wear them.

A number of scientific studies have claimed masking reduced transmission and infection during the pandemic, but others have claimed it did not. Experts and the mainstream media have been quick to dismiss negative studies as being wrong or subject to “misinterpretation.”

It’s worth noting that the data used for the new study were survey data which assume the truthfulness and accuracy of the participants’ own recollections. There is no way to verify whether the survey respondents did wear masks in exactly the manner they reported.

The former president claimed inflation is making it impossible for young Americans to buy houses and start families

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to blast President Biden’s economic policies for preventing America’s young from getting their slice of the American Dream.

“One of the most vicious effects of the Biden Inflation Tax is how Crooked Joe has made it impossible for millions of Americans, especially YOUNG Americans, to buy a home, a car, or even make rent,” Trump posted on his social-media site Truth Social.

“High inflation means high prices, high interest rates, high mortgage rates, and death for the American Dream.”

The former president continued:

“Under Biden, the 30-year mortgage rate is almost 8%–by contrast, the month I left office, it was 2.6%. That means a typical Minnesota home mortgage that used to cost you $2,000 dollars a month now costs nearly $3,100 dollars a month. And because of the Biden Price Hikes, it is harder than ever to save for a downpayment!”

Trump carried on his assault in a second post, in which he ridiculed Biden for claiming Americans “have the money to spend” and that corporations are to blame for economic hardship, because they’re deliberately shrinking the size of their products, like Snickers bars.

“Americans are not struggling to make ends meet because they’re buying TOO MANY SNICKERS BARS—they’re struggling because we have the worst, most incompetent, most corrupt president in the history of our country!”

The Pope claims it’s “sheer madness” to attempt to prevent migrants crossing the southern border

Pope Francis describes as “sheer madness” any attempt to close the US southern border with Mexico, in an interview with CBS’s Norah O’Donnell that will air later today.

The Pope sat down to speak with the CBS anchor in a first-of-its-kind interview. No other pope has given an interview to a US news station before.

In a clip released ahead of the interview’s release, O’Donnell asks the Pope what he thinks of efforts to secure the US southern border and prevent migrants from crossing.

“I grew up in Texas, and I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the State of Texas is attempting to shut down a Catholic charity on the border of Mexico that offers undocumented migrants humanitarian assistance. What do you think of that?”

“That is madness,” Pope Francis replies. “Sheer madness. To close the border and leave them there—that is madness.

“The Migrant has to be received. Thereafter you decide how to deal with them. Maybe you have to send them back, I don’t know, but each case ought to be considered humanely.”

Religious charities, including Catholic charities, have come in for significant criticism for their part in the US migrant crisis. They have been accused not just of providing shelter and aid for migrants, but of actively trafficking them across the border and within the US. Catholic groups have hit back by claiming they are receiving “threats” as a result of a “far-right anti-migrant campaign.”
