Controversial Boxer Wins Olympic Gold
Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer whose gender has been a source of huge controversy, won gold at the Paris Olympics on Friday. Khelif previously failed a gender test, which revealed him to be a man genetically and not a woman.
Khelif defeated China’s Yang Liu on Friday in a 5-0 points decision.
The renewed controversy over Khelif’s gender began with his opening bout, when he mauled Italy’s Angela Carini in a mere 46 seconds. Carini was forced to withdraw and declared the bout “unjust.”
Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni weighed in, saying that “athletes who have male genetic characteristics should not be admitted to women’s competitions.”
Melonia added that this is necessary “to protect the right of female athletes to be able to compete on equal terms.”

Let me repeat that: a MALE has taken a WOMAN’S Olympic gold.
This is what they call this “progress.” It’s the ultimate betrayal of fairness, safety, and women by @iocmedia. pic.twitter.com/pHw1Ve4uTF
Khelif was disqualified from last year’s IBA World Boxing Championships for failing a gender eligibility test, after it revealed he possessed male X-Y chromosomes. Khelif has always competed in the female category.
Khelif appealed his disqualification, calling it a “big conspiracy,” but the IBA said the decision was “extremely important and necessary to uphold the level of fairness and utmost integrity of the competition.”
Comment on the victory was brutal.
“Imane Khelif wins first-ever gold medal in freestyle domestic violence,” wrote the Babylon Bee.
On Twitter, swimmer Riley Gaines slammed the International Olympic Committee for allowed Khelif to compete as a woman.
“Imane Khelif (XY) dominated World Champion Lang Liu (XX) to win an Olympic gold medal. Let me repeat that: a MALE has taken a WOMAN’S Olympic gold. This is what they call this ‘progress.’ It’s the ultimate betrayal of fairness, safety, and women by @iocmedia.”
Khelif is not the only boxer competing in the female category at the Olympics whose gender has been disputed. Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting was also disqualified from last year’s World Championships for the same reason. Yu-Ting has already secured a bronze medal and will fight in the semi-finals this coming week.
Jesse Ventura Backs Kamala: “It’s Time for a Woman President”
Former Minnesota governor, professional wrestler and film star Jesse Ventura announced that he would be endorsing Kamala Harris for the presidency.
Appearing on CNN on Friday, Ventura said that his main reasons for doing so was “selfish:” because he wants to live long enough to see the first female president.
“I’ve only got a few elections to go, I’m 73 years old now, so the window’s closing. I want to be alive to see the first woman President of the United States of America, and the first woman Commander in Chief, and we’ve got her right now.
Ventura was asked to confirm whether he was indeed endorsing Kamala Harris
“Yes, I want to see a woman President. It’s time for a woman president.”
Ventura added that, “We men have screwed it up enough.”

Ventura was also asked about the Trump-Vance campaign’s recent attacks on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s military record.
“I think it’s shameful. I think it’s shameful that a veteran would attack another veteran. Governors Walz served honorably for 24 years in the National Guard. After 20 years you are eligible to retire at any time you deem necessary.”
Ventura went on to say that the main issue with Walz missing deployment to Iraq was that the war itself was illegal, and the National Guard should not have been sent there.
Ventura has repeatedly criticized Donald Trump in recent years, claiming that Trump “copied everything” from him for his 2016 presidential run and suggesting, in 2020, that if he had been on the debate stage with Trump, “somebody would have gotten his tie tightened.”

Clown World: Bizarre Olympic Breakdance Performance Tops Off Already Strange Games
An awkward breakdance performance is the latest “this can’t be real” moment from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The incident came Friday as competitor “Raygun,” described as “Australia’s top-ranking breakdancer,” performed a dance routine that left many scratching their heads as to why the event had been added to the games.

“A clip of the 36-year-old – real name Rachael Gunn – quickly went viral as she awkwardly squirmed on the dance floor with her hand on her chin to end what was already a confusing and chaotic routine,” the Daily Mail reports.
The Mail went on to note Gunn is also an expert creative arts researcher at Macquarie University in Sydney who specializes in “the cultural politics of breakdancing.”

However, Gunn’s routine was panned as yet another spectacle trivializing the once-great institution, and prompted a ton of memes.

The breakdancer from down under later released a social media post appearing to address her routine stating, “Don’t be afraid to be different, go out there and represent yourself, you never know where that’s gonna take you.”

Her US competitor Logistx performed a more traditional breakdance routine.

Watch Live: President Trump Blasts Harris in Bozeman Following Emergency Landing
Former President Donald Trump heads to Bozeman, Montana, Friday night for yet another MAGA campaign rally, following an unexplained detour through Billings earlier in the day.
Trump will criticize Harris on a variety of things, including her recent refusal to conduct a debate with Trump hosted by Fox News on Sept. 4, and for her refusal to conduct a press conference or a sit-down interview with the press.
Earlier Friday, Trump’s plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Billings due to a “mechanical issue,” according to reports.
