70 Dairy Workers Being Monitored for Bird Flu Symptoms in Colorado
70 dairy workers are being monitored for symptoms of bird flu, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment confirmed on Friday.
The workers were exposed to the virus while working at two Colorado dairy farms.
None of the workers have reported symptoms so far.
Bird flu was first detected in a Colorado dairy herd at the end of last month. A second herd tested positive on Wednesday.
The first detection of this strain (H5N1) in a US dairy herd occurred in late March, on a Texas farm. A worker there developed mild symptoms, which made them the first person to develop an infection from another mammal, according to the World Health Organization. The first human infection from poultry was recorded two years ago, in Scotland.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention and other organizations are warning of the possibility of a bird flu pandemic. The virus is “highly pathogenic” in birds and other animals, although this has level of severity and transmission has not been demonstrated in humans.
42 dairy herds in nine states have now tested positive. Fragments of the virus have been found in pasteurised milk tested by the USDA, which nevertheless maintains that the milk supply is safe.
The USDA is now offering financial support to farms to provide personal protective equipment, and has mandated the testing of all lactating dairy cattle that cross state lines.

CNN’s Zakaria Admits NYC ‘Prosecutors Are Politically Motivated’ Against Trump
CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria dropped a sobering dose of reality to his viewers: voters realize the Democrat prosecutors behind the New York “hush money” trial against former President Donald Trump are politically motivated.
“Trump is now leading in almost all the swing states, but behind those numbers lie even more troubling details. As someone worried about the prospects of a second Trump term, I think it is best to be honest about reality,” Zakaria began Sunday on his show “GPS Sunday.”
When the ’24 race began to take shape, I thought Pres. Biden had a strong pitch to voters: a rebounding economy and a return to normalcy after the chaos of Covid & Trump.

“I understand that polls are not always accurate, but in general, they have tended to underestimate Donald Trump’s support, not overestimate it. I doubt that there are many shy Biden voters in the country.”
“Republicans seem to be uniting behind Trump,” he continued. “Whatever opposition he faced in the primaries has largely melted away. And the trials against him keep him in the spotlight, infuriate his base, who sees him as a martyr and even may serve to make him the object of some sympathy among people in general who believe that his prosecutors are politically motivated.”
But it’s not just Trump’s supporters who see the trials against him as politically motivated — Zakaria does too!
“This happens to be true. In my opinion, I doubt the New York indictment would have been brought against a defendant whose name was not Donald Trump,” Zakaria asserted, without elaborating.
Zakaria, an avowed Biden supporter, also pointed to a CNN poll which found that 56% of Americans don’t believe Trump will have a fair trial.
“A majority of Americans are skeptical that Trump will be able to get a fair trial according to a CNN poll,” he said.
Meanwhile, an MSNBC panel was dumbfounded by a recent poll showing 53% of independent voters are far more concerned over Biden posing a threat to democracy than Trump.
“I find it shocking, honestly,” said MSNBC analyst Susan Del Percio on Thursday. “I can’t make sense of that number. I wish I could.”
