White House apparently thinks the ‘answer’ is to pump Israel with yet more and more weapons and ammo

President Biden is mulling his first new major arms sales to Israel since the unprecedented Iranian missile and drone attack which targeted the country last Saturday.

Though the world just narrowly avoided witnessing a major regional war explode with Thursday night’s Israeli ‘limited’ retaliation on the Islamic Republic, the White House apparently thinks the ‘answer’ is to pump Israel with yet more and more weapons and ammo, to the tune of $1+ billion.

“The Biden administration is considering more than $1 billion in new weapons deals for Israel including tank ammunition, military vehicles and mortar rounds, U.S. officials said, at a time of heightened scrutiny of the use of American-made weapons in the war in Gaza,” Wall Street Journal reports Friday.

“The proposed weapons transfers—which would be in addition to those in a military aid deal currently before the Congress—would be among the largest to Israel since it invaded Gaza in response to Hamas’s attack that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, on Oct. 7,” the report continues.

This also comes while the administration has been talking out of both sides of its mouth – on the one hand condemning the immense civilian death toll in Gaza, and on the other vowing to remain firm in its “ironclad commitment” to Israel’s defense.

The US administration has time and again said it has been urging Israel against escalating with Iran. The White House has also said it did not “greenlight” Israel’s Thursday overnight attack, which reportedly targeted radar sites in Isfahan, which is home to a key Iranian nuclear facility.

As for the Gaza operation, Biden has still sought to press Israel to hold off on a Rafah ground offensive. And yet, the IDF is more ensconced in the Gaza Strip than ever. There are new reports of an Israeli military base being established in the heart of Gaza.

“Satellite images and photographs shared on social media show extensive development and construction at two outposts the Israel Defense Forces is building on the strategic road that divides the Gaza Strip into two,” reports Haaretz.

“The army calls the construction of these outposts in what it calls the ‘Netzarim Corridor’ as a long-term achievement. The whole corridor is referred to as something that is here to stay,” the report indicates.

Third-party candidate officially secures place on the ballot in tightly-contested Michigan

In a development that’s sure to cause shudders at Democratic National Party headquarters, the independent campaign of Robert F. Kennedy Jr on Thursday officially secured a place on the ballot in tightly-contested Michigan. 

However, some polls point to Kennedy being a bigger threat to Trump in the state that has 15 electoral votes.

Michigan is considered one of seven battleground states that will decide the 2024 presidential election — along with Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Polls generally show that the presence of independent and third-party candidates Kennedy, Cornel West and Jill Stein provide a small benefit to Donald Trump.

With many Democratic electoral cornerstones wobbling — including blacks, Hispanics and young people — Blue Team is worried that Kennedy will peel off enough discontented Democrats to deliver victory to Trump. That’s why Democrats are launching a multi-pronged attack on Kennedy, from legal challenges to his state ballot applications to hosting more than 15 Biden-endorsing Kennedy family members at a Philadelphia event on Thursday. 

Democratic worries about Michigan are compounded by what happened in the state’s February primary. In a protest of Biden’s handling of the Israel-Gaza war, more than 13% of Democrats voted “uncommitted.” The 100,000 who chose that option represented a block more than 9 times Donald Trump’s 2016 victory margin.  

However, two recent polls suggest the Trump campaign should be uneasy about Kennedy’s Michigan ballot accomplishment.

• Fox News shows Trump up 3 points in a head-to-head, but only up 2 points in a five-way contest. Kennedy scores 9%. 
• Marketing Resource Group has Trump ahead by 6% vs Biden, but up 3% with Kennedy, Stein and West in the mix. Kennedy snags 13%. 

With the uncertain Kennedy impact in mind, Trump’s Make America Great Again PAC on Monday launched a “Radical F***ing Kennedy” website, which spotlights various Kennedy stances that are anathema to conservatives.  

With less than seven months to election day, Michigan is only the second state where Kennedy is officially on the ballot — along with Utah. However, Kennedy’s campaign and PAC say they’ve hit the signature requirements in many other states — including Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina — and are awaiting the states’ validation. 

Earlier this week, Kennedy announced that, after having considered the option, he wouldn’t pursue the Libertarian Party’s nomination as a way of instantly achieving 50-state ballot access. “We’re not gonna have any problems getting on the ballot ourselves so we won’t be running Libertarian,” Kennedy told ABC News. “We’re going to add probably two to three states a week.”

Kennedy won’t officially be an independent in the Wolverine State: His name will appear on the ballot line of the obscure Natural Law Party, which was founded to solve political problems “through alignment with the ‘Unified Field’ of all the laws of nature through the use of the Transcendental Meditation.” Once a fledgling national organization, its last remnants are in Michigan; Ralph Nader ran on the state party’s line in 2008. “[Kennedy is] the most qualified candidate in the modern-day history of America,” said party chairman Doug Dern.

Mike Johnson reverted to Republican orthodoxy as he vowed to get weapons to Ukraine as a matter of “critical” importance

In a dramatic break from his party’s hardline conservative base, US House Speaker Mike Johnson this week praised the country’s deep state, called Russia, China, and Iran an “axis of evil,” and vowed to put his job on the line to funnel more than $60 billion to Kiev.

For months, Johnson has resisted bringing a $95 billion foreign aid bill to a vote, arguing that neither he nor his fellow Republicans could support the bill – which would give $14 billion in military aid to Israel and $60 billion to Ukraine – without it being tied to an overhaul of US border security.

However, after a series of recent meetings with US intelligence chiefs, Johnson has changed his tune.

“This is a critical time right now, a critical time on the world stage,” Johnson told reporters on Wednesday. “I think providing lethal aid to Ukraine right now is critically important. I really do. I really do believe the intel and the briefings that we’ve gotten.”

I believe [Chinese President] Xi [Jinping] and [Russian President] Vladimir Putin and Iran really are an axis of evil,” he continued. “I think they’re in coordination on this. I think that Vladimir Putin would continue to march through Europe if he were allowed.”

Johnson’s comments represented a break with the Republican Party’s pro-Trump wing. These supporters of the former president – most prominent among them Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz – view the country’s intelligence agencies as arms of the anti-Trump “deep state,” and have called for the flow of money to Kiev to be halted.

“Fighting a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, which is a non-NATO member nation, is not protecting America’s national security interests, it doesn’t protect the United States of America, as a matter of fact, it pushes us closer and closer to world war three,” Greene told journalist Tucker Carlson earlier this month.

Johnson’s reference to an ‘axis of evil’, however, invokes the more interventionist GOP of the past. Coined by speechwriter David Frum, the phrase was first used by George W. Bush to refer to Iran, Iraq, and North Korea in the months leading up to the invasion of Iraq. Former National Security Adviser John Bolton later added Cuba, Libya, and Syria to the list.

Despite resistance from some of its Republican members, the House Rules Committee agreed on Thursday to split the foreign aid bill into three separate bills – one each for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. The House voted in favor of this move on Friday, leaving Johnson free to schedule a vote on each bill for Saturday, even as Greene filed a motion to remove him from the speakership.

Johnson said on Wednesday that he anticipated the move, telling reporters that he was willing to “take personal risk” to pass the bills.

With help from the Democrats, the Republican speaker is set to put the $60 billion bill to a vote

The US House of Representatives introduced a rule on Friday that would allow a vote for a $95 billion foreign aid bill, including $60 billion earmarked for the government in Kiev. 

Requested by President Joe Biden last October, the funding proposal has languished in the House for months due to objections from a faction of the Republican majority. Friday saw 165 Democrats and only 151 Republicans vote in favor of the rule change, fueling fury against Speaker Mike Johnson.

According to the Washington Post, the issue of Ukraine funding has “deeply divided a dysfunctional” Republican Party.

Congressman Michael Burgess of Texas, who chairs the Rules Committee, said he regretted not having border security in the package of bills but that “the requirement for America to assert itself as the leader of the free world is not optional, it’s not a requirement we can put on pause.”

His party colleague, Dan Bishop of North Carolina, fumed that the Republican leadership is “fighting tooth and nail to pass Democrat, America Last priorities.”

“Washington needs to stop shoveling money to Ukraine while our own borders are wide open,” Congressman Andy Ogles, a Tennessee Republican, complained.

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has filed a motion to oust Speaker Mike Johnson over the rule change. It has been endorsed by Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona. 

Johnson became speaker last October after the House Freedom Caucus, the same group now opposed to Ukraine funding, ousted Kevin McCarthy over a secret deal with Democrats to fund Kiev.

The Louisiana Republican plans to put the Ukraine funding bill up for a vote on Saturday. If adopted, it would go back to the Senate for approval before it can be signed into effect by Biden. 

While some of the $60 billion would go to pay the salaries of Ukrainian government officials, much would end up in the pockets of US weapons manufacturers. About 20% of the funding would be restructured as a loan, but with the provision that Biden can write it off after November 15.

100 train migrants fight Mexican police trying to remove them

Mexico is the main thoroughfare for the ongoing invasion of the United States. As a result, there are plenty of problems in Mexico.

Yes, Mexico has tightened its immigration enforcement since December, but there are still invaders getting through, not to mention the ones who were in Mexico already.

Lately, U.S.-bound Venezuelans have been among the troublemakers in Mexico.

Mexican authorities in Chihuahua City recently tried to detain some illegal aliens attempting to travel by train to Ciudad Juarez, which lies right across the border from El Paso, USA.

A train company had reported that the migrants were boarding a freight train bound for Ciudad Juarez.

Eventually, about 100 men, women and children, had snuck on to the train.

Agents of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (Mexico’s immigration agency) and Chihuahua City municipal police went out to get them off the train and take them to a migrant shelter.

But the invaders decided not to cooperate. They fought back, throwing bottles, sticks and rocks at Mexican authorities.

These migrants didn’t want to go to a shelter. They wanted to continue on to the U.S. border.

“With the cry of, ‘If you want war, we’re going to give you war,’ a group of mostly Venezuelan migrants attacked agents of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) and Chihuahua City municipal police with rocks, burning a quad bike and damaging a truck, during an operation to get them off the train at the city of Chihuahua,” Excelsior reported.

“The migrants were saying they were tired of the detentions, the extortion, and the theft, blaming the agents and police.”

Illegal aliens invade other countries and get indignant when everything doesn’t go their way. Why don’t they just stay in their own country?

After the confrontation, the invading migrants continued the struggle via social media, blaming the Mexican agents.

“On social media, the migrants accused the agents of causing the conflict due to their aggression against a migrant, which triggered a violent response on the part of the foreigners who had settled in that area,” Milenio reported.

The INM, on the other hand, denies that its agents attacked a migrant.

“On the contrary, it was [INM agents] who were wounded,”the INM says.

In the southern state of Oaxaca, two days earlier, there were some Venezuelans involved in some trouble.

It was in the “Costa” region of Oaxaca, which has reportedly become a more popular invasion route.

“This year, the migratory flow in the region of the Costa has increased considerably, with Pinotepa Nacional being a point where the migrants seek routes to the border with the United States,” Milenio reports.

“In recent weeks, to avoid detection by authorities of the Instituto Nacional de Migración, the migrants have opted for the Pinotepa Nacional route… before heading to Mexico City.”

The popularity of various invasion routes is constantly in flux.

What happened in Oaxaca was that Venezuelans were fighting each other while boarding a bus!

Think about it. Venezuelans travel all the way from South America to Mexico – in order to fight other Venezuelans!

Azzarello had an extensive Reddit history that reveals his political motivations

The posting history of Max Azzarello, the man who set himself on fire outside the New York courthouse where Trump is being tried, reveals that he was a self-described “anarcho-communist.” The revelation provides a striking parallel with the case of Aaron Bushnell, who also set himself on fire, in protest at Israel’s war in Gaza. Bushnell described himself in near-identical terms.

Could there be links between the two men? And what role is internet forums like Reddit playing in the radicalization of these men and others like them?

In one post on Reddit posted a month ago, the user “Coup_Radley,” who has been verified as Azzarello by the twitter account Reddit Lies, said the following, under the heading “Anarchocommunist.”

“My politics include believing both U.S. parties have been taken over by financial criminals, and that the U.S. has been a full-blown kleptocracy ever since CIA Direct George H.W. Bush got the White House.”

He then appears to endorse real-world violence against the government by a united leftist movement.

“I’m a huge proponent of left unity, and believe that only the left has the power to build a united movement to enact meaningful change. I wish more leftists realized that shouting ACAB [“All cops are bast*rds”] and memeing about guillotines and molotovs is precisely what our criminal government would want them to do. In my eyes, the only thing ‘ACAB’ stands for is ‘All Cops Are Brainwashed.

“I worship Mother Earth magazine to the high heavens.”

Mother Earth is an anarchist magazine founded by the notorious Emma Goldman in 1906.

The user Coup_Radley also posted Azzarello’s manifesto, “The True History of the World.”

An analysis of his cumulative voting patterns on Reddit revealed that “his ideology meshed very well with r/SandersForPresident, r/ChapoTrapHouse, and generally ‘leftist’ subreddits,” according to Twitter user Reddit Lies.

He also appears to have had another, older, account called MrSamsonite.

User Reddit Lies, who is responsible for the analysis of Azzarello’s Reddit posts, notes that the similarities between the Azzarello and the Bushnell cases are “incredible.”

Of the two men’s posting histories, Reddit Lies says:

“It’s almost copy-paste, though Aaron was far more immersed in leftist hate. So far Max hasn’t come across as nearly as snarky or angry.”

The role of Reddit in radicalising the two men is already under scrutiny on Twitter, and will no doubt come under even more as Azzarello’s posts are analysed in even greater detail and a clearer timeline, tied to events in his offline life, is established.
