Another Secret Service Failure: Agents Failed To Pick Up Radios Assigned by Police
Local law enforcement set aside special radios for Secret Service agents the day before Trump’s rally in Butler Pennsylvania, but those radios were never picked up.
The radios were intended to allow law enforcement and Secret Service agents to communicate during the rally.
According to CNN, this failure contributed to significant confusion that could have cost Donald Trump his life, and did cost the life of Corey Comperatore, a member of the audience.
Details about the radios emerged in a Congressional report published by Rep. Clay Higgins, who is serving on the Congressional task force investigating the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Higgins claims that a county emergency services commander had “personally reminded” Secret Service counter-sniper teams to pick up their assigned radios at a command post located at the Butler County Fairgrounds. “It didn’t happen,” Higgins’ report stated.
The claim about the radios was confirmed to CNN by Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger.
“I can confirm that the Butler County ESU team made radios available to the Secret Service and that they were not utilized by the Secret Service,” Goldinger said in a statement.
“It is safe to assume that if a holder of an ESU radio was paying attention, they would have received the call,” Goldinger added.
The Secret Service said in a statement that they will examine Higgins’ report and are “committed to investigating the decisions and actions of personnel related to the event in Butler, Pennsylvania” and will hold “our personnel accountable to the highest professional standards.”
Rep. Higgins and other members of the Congressional task force will visit Butler on Monday to meet with local officials and tour the site of the rally.
A communication breakdown has been highlighted as one of the key contributing factors allowing Thomas Matthew Crooks to gain access to his rooftop sniper’s perch and fire eight shots at the former president before being eliminated.
“Local officials were penned in by a cumbersome hierarchical system of reporting that stymied the flow of urgent information from one unit to the next,” Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa told CNN in a statement.
“There was no unified radio channel for all law enforcement on the premises to communicate in the event of an emergency—instead, units connected over various radio channels, group chats and even emails,” Grassley said. “Officers relied heavily on spotty cell service to get their messages through, and were often unsure if the right law enforcement entity received them.”

The Smears Begin: Author Claims RFK Jr. Was Coke Dealer at Harvard
A former classmate at Harvard has come forward to allege RFK Jr. was a cocaine dealer at Harvard, just hours after RFK Jr. dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Donald Trump.
In a piece for the Atlantic entitled, “RFK Jr. Was My Drug Dealer,” Kurt Andersen details an occasion at Harvard in the early 1970s when he says he bought cocaine from RFK Jr. and his brother Joe.
“As a teenager in Nebraska, I’d smoked cannabis and dropped acid before I got to Harvard in 1972. Sometime during my freshman year, I tried cocaine, enjoyed it, and later decided to procure a gram for myself. A friend told me about a kid in our class who was selling coke.
“The dealer was Bobby Kennedy. I’d never met him. I got in touch; he said sure, come over to his room in Hurlbut, his dorm, where I’d never been, a five-minute walk.”
Andersen says that RFK Jr. gave him cocaine for $40 and a plastic straw to snort it. After snorting the drug in Kennedy’s dorm, Andersen left—with the straw in his possession.
Kennedy then furiously called him to demand he return the straw, because it was “growing crystals” inside it from the residual cocaine and nasal mucus.
Andersen claims this sour ending to the deal shows Kennedy’s true character.
“His almost fetishistic obsession with a bit of plastic trash. His greedy little burst of anger cloaked in righteousness. His faith that he was cultivating precious cocaine crystals. In retrospect, it has seemed to me a tiny illustration of the child as the father of the man he became: fantastical pseudoscientific crusader, middle-aged preppy dick who takes selfies with barbecued dogs and plays pranks with roadkill bear cubs he didn’t have time to eat.”
Andersen is quite frank in the piece about his motivation for revealing this episode: RFK’s endorsement of Donald Trump for president, which took place just a few hours before Andersen’s piece was published.
In particular, Andersen says he wants to highlight the hypocrisy of RFK Jr. endorsing a man who has repeatedly claimed that drug dealers should be executed.
Kennedy has made no secrets of his past struggles with drug addiction, which began during his teens. He was arrested in 1970 in Cape Cod for marijuana possession, and later suffered a near-fatal overdose on a flight.
“It’s Huge”: CNN Anchor Says RFK Endorsement Could Win Election for Trump
RFK Jr.’s stunning endorsement of President Trump could decisively win the election for Trump, according to CNN’s Erin Burnett.
On CNN on Friday night, Burnett considered the potential impact of Kennedy’s endorsement on the election, on the basis of the latest polling information.
“The latest swing state polls show Kennedy with 5 or 6% of the vote,” Burnett said.
“Now you might say, that’s not a big deal. Actually, if that’s the case, it is huge. It is everything.”

RFK Jr.’s decision to drop out of the election race has been nothing short of electrifying.
In a speech delivered on Friday, RFK Jr. said that his decision to join forces with Trump was motivated by their alignment on key issues.
He added that although there are “still issues and approaches upon which we continue to have very serious differences,” he and Trump are “aligned with each other on other key issues, like ending the Forever Wars, ending the childhood disease epidemics, securing the border, protecting freedom of speech, unravelling the corporate capture of our regulatory agencies, getting the US intelligence agency is out of the business of propagandizing and censoring and surveilling Americans, and interfering with our elections.”
RFK Jr. also revealed that he had attempted to speak with Kamala Harris before making his decision, but he was rebuffed.
“Vice president Harris decline to meet or even speak with me,” he said.
Later on Friday, RFK Jr. joined Trump on stage in Arizona, making a spectacular entrance with pyrotechnics, to the strains of the Foo Fighters’ song “My hero.”
As the two men stood on stage together, Trump praised RFK Jr. for his decades of work on environmentalism and health, and said that he would establish a presidential commission into chronic diseases, something he promised to do when RFK Jr. first announced his candidacy in 2023.
“Nobody’s done more” than RFK Jr. to “advocate for the health of our families and children,” Trump said.
“Millions and millions of Americans who want clean air, clean water, and a healthy nation have concerns about toxins in our environment and pesticides in our food. That’s why today I’m repeating my pledge to establish a panel of top experts working with Bobby to investigate what is causing the decades-long increase in chronic health problems and childhood diseases,” he added.
