“You Can’t Feign Bravery in a Situation like That”: Musk on Why He’s Voting Trump
Billionaire Elon Musk sat down with podcast host Lex Fridman and told him why he supports Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States.
Musk gave a number of reasons, but most prominent among them was Trump’s “courage under fire” during the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania on 13 July. President Trump came within millimeters of death by an assassin’s bullets, only to rally the stunned crowd with a gesture of defiance, pumping his first and shouting “Fight! Fight! Fight”
“I thought Trump displayed courage under fire, objectively,” Musk told Fridman.
“He just got shot. He’s got blood streaming down his face, and he’s first-pumping, saying ‘Fight!’ That’s impressive. You can’t feign bravery in a situation like that. Most people would have been ducking. Because it could be a second shooter. You don’t know.
“The President of the United States has got to represent the country. And they’re representing you. They’re representing everyone in America. You want someone who is strong and courageous to represent the country. That’s not to say that he’s without flaws. We all have flaws. But on balance, and certainly at the time, it was a choice of Biden—poor guy, has trouble climbing a flight of stairs, and the other one’s fist-pumping after getting shot. No comparison. Who do you want dealing with some of the toughest people and other world leaders who are pretty tough themselves?”

Musk then listed other reasons why Trump is the clear choice for 2024. These included the need for a “secure border” and “safe and clean cities.”
Musk also said Trump would reduce spending. “We’re currently spending at a rate that is bankrupting the country,” the billionaire said, warning that America could easily end up like Argentina if more and more public money is spent servicing the nation’s debt.
“We should not take American prosperity for granted,” Musk added.
“We’ve got to reduce the size of government, reduce the spending and we’ve got to live within our means.”

Chinese Man Arrested for Trespassing at Mar-a-Lago Claims Chinese Govt. Linked to Assassination Attempt
A Chinese national who was arrested after making multiple attempts to enter Mar-a-Lago claimed he had documents implicating the Chinese government in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
Zijie Li, 38, of El Monte, California repeatedly tried to enter Mar-a-Lago in a car and told Secret Service agents at the gate that he wanted to give them documents proving the Chinese government was involved in the assassination attempt at Butler, Pennsylvania on 13 July.
Mr Li first attempted to enter Mar-a-Lago at around 8pm on 19 July, less than a week after the shooting. Secret Service agents called the police, who issued Mr Li with a trespass warning and told him he would be arrested if he returned.
But Mr Li returned 11 days later, on 30 July, and was stopped on Ocean Boulevard near Mar-a-Lago for obstructing traffic. Police discovered that Mar-a-Lago was entered as his destination on his GPS system.
The next day, he attempted again to enter Mar-a-Lago and, after being turned away, was eventually apprehended at the intersection north of the estate.
He now faces a single count of trespassing and is being held at the Palm Beach County jail on a $10,000 bond.
On Friday, he pled not guilty to trespassing. The judge ordered him to have no contact with Mar-a-Lago, Trump or the Trump campaign.
Mr Li’s arrest is the first security-related arrest at Mar-a-Lago since the attempt on Donald Trump’s life on 13 July.
Security has been significantly increased at Mar-a-Lago and in the surrounding area, which includes the closure of South Ocean Boulevard.

Wikipedia Editors Scrubbing Josh Shapiro’s IDF Service
Wikipedia editors appear to be scrubbing any reference to service with the Israel Defense Forces from the profile of Kamala Harris’s presumptive VP pick, Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro.
Users took to Twitter to note that references to Shapiro past volunteering with the Israeli army have now disappeared.
Gab founder Andrew Torba Tweeted, “Wikipedia editors/admins are working furiously to scrub the fact that Josh Shapiro volunteered for a foreign nation’s army.”
Torba posted screenshots of the editing history of Shapiro’s Wikipedia page to back up his claim.
In the screenshot, an editor who wrote part of Shapiro’s page can be seen expressing his surprise that the reference to Shapiro’s overseas military service was removed.
“I added the fact that Josh Shapiro studied and volunteered for the IDF during/just before his university years,” the editor wrote, noting that Shapiro had detailed his service with the IDF in a Philadelphia Inquirer article. This reference was then apparently deleted, the editor explains, “due to lack of credible source.”

The claim of service in the IDF reappeared on Friday in The Philadelphia Inquirer, which quoted an op-ed Shapiro wrote when he was 20.
Shapiro himself has now backtracked on the story, including at a press conference held on Friday and in official statements to the press.
“While he was in high school, Josh Shapiro was required to do a service project, which he and several classmates completed through a program that took them to a kibbutz in Israel where he worked on a farm and at a fishery,” a representative of Shapiro told The Jewish National Syndicate.
“The program also included volunteering on service projects on an Israeli army br. At no time was he engaged in any military activities.”
Shapiro has yet to be formally picked at Kamala Harris’s running-mate, but speculation is rife after a Tweet was apparently “leaked” announcing that he will be. Cherelle Parker, Philadelphia’s mayor, posted the Tweet yesterday.
Jack Posobiec suggested that it wasn’t a leak at all.
“This was posted bc Kamala is getting cold feet about appointing Shapiro due to his baggage,” Posobiec Tweeted.
“Team Josh is trying to force her hand.”
The “baggage” Shapiro brings includes lingering questions about his role in a cover-up of the death of Ellen Greenberg, a young woman whose death was ruled a suicide despite the fact that she was stabbed over 20 times, including ten times in the back; his approval of the “controlled burn” of the Norfolk Southern train in East Palestine, Ohio; his record as governor of Pennsylvania; and his support for Israel.
In the op-ed quote in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Shapiro wrote that Palestinians are “too battle-minded to be able to establish a peaceful homeland of their own.”
Israel, and its war in Gaza in response to the 7 October attacks, remains a bitter dividing line among Democrats.

Trump Agrees to Fox Debate with Harris
Donald Trump will debate Kamala Harris on Fox News this September, the former president revealed on social media on Friday.
In a post on his social-media site Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th. The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.
The FoxNews Debate will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a site in an area to be determined. The Moderators of the Debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and the Rules will be similar to the Rules of my Debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been treated horribly by his Party – BUT WITH A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!….”
Despite complaining that Biden’s replacement amounts to a “coup,” and that he had already “spent Hundreds of Millions of Dollars, Time, and Effort fighting Joe, and when I won the Debate, they threw a new Candidate into the ring,” Trump has said that he “totally accepts” having to face Kamala Harris.
Pennsylvania is one of the key battleground states that will decide the election, but it’s also important because it’s where Trump came within millimeters of death by an assassin’s bullet. Trump has vowed to return to Butler, Pennsylvania to finish the speech that was interrupted by Thomas Matthew Crooks on 13 July last month.
The presence of a live audience will also offer a significant potential boost to Trump, who complained about the lack of an audience during the first debate, with President Biden.
At time of writing, it’s unclear whether Kamala Harris has agreed to the debate. According to The New York Times, representatives of Ms Harris and Fox News have declined to comment on Trump’s claims.
Trump had previously agreed to debate Biden on ABC, on 10 September. Harris has already indicated her willingness to take Biden’s place in the scheduled debate.
“Well Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage,” Harris said at a rally in Atlanta, on Tuesday.
“Because as the saying goes, ‘If you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.’”
