Kamala Harris Would ‘Eliminate Religious Freedom,’ has ‘Extreme’ Anti-Catholic Agenda: Catholic Leaders
(LifeSiteNews) — A Kamala Harris presidency would be a threat to the religious freedoms of Catholics and the lives of preborn babies, Catholics leaders are warning.
Vice President Harris is currently the Democratic Party’s choice to run for president in 2024. Barring any last-minute changes, the Democrats will formally nominate her in the first week of August.
Her record of opposing Catholics and Catholic values is raising concerns.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has aggressively and selectively enforced the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act), including targeting peaceful pro-life fathers like Mark Houck.
The same DOJ also put out a memo through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that baselessly accused Catholics who attend the Traditional Latin Mass of “extremism.” The FBI has even spied on Latin Mass churches under the Biden-Harris administration.
Similarly, Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland and the DOJ released a memo suggesting that concerned parents and advocates who opposed racial identity politics and sexual ideology in the classroom were akin to domestic terrorists.
The Biden-Harris administration also tried to force hospitals and doctors, including Catholic ones, to facilitate the surgical and genital mutilation of gender-confused individuals and to commit abortions.

But apart from that, Harris also has a record of targeting pro-lifers and Catholics. For example, as attorney general of California, she targeted Catholic pro-life journalist David Daleiden after he released videos that showed Planned Parenthood executives casually discussing the sale of aborted baby body parts. She also supported a bill, later thrown out by the Supreme Court, that would force pro-life pregnancy centers to tell women where they can obtain abortions.
As a U.S. senator, she criticized a judicial nominee and member of the Knights of Columbus, attacking the organization because its leadership, like the Catholic Church, opposes abortion and so-called homosexual “marriage.” She also was once ranked the most liberal senator in the U.S. Harris opposes the right of religious companies, such as Hobby Lobby, to opt out of providing abortifacient birth control.
Harris is an “unrepentant apologist for abortion,” according to Reagan Barklage, the national field director of Students for Life of America and a Catholic herself.

The vice president would need to completely change her ways in order to reassure Catholics, according to Barklage.
“A Kamala Harris presidency is an abortion extremism presidency that puts thousands of preborn lives at risk,” Barklage told LifeSiteNews in an emailed statement. “She is an unrepentant apologist for abortion, as she can’t name a single abortion she wouldn’t support.”
“Unless she does a complete 180 on her stance, which means losing the allegiance of her radical abortion base, true Catholics who uphold the sanctity of all human life have a vested interest in voting against her if she becomes the Democrat nominee,” Barklage said.
Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute shared a similar assessment with LifeSiteNews in a media statement.

“Harris’ entire disposition is directed in complete contravention with the Catholic Church,” Hichborn said via email. “By holding membership in the Knights of Columbus as a litmus test for one’s judicial qualifications, Harris may as well dismiss anyone claiming to be a faithful Catholic.”
“For Harris to show that she holds no animosity toward Catholics, Christians, or even social conservatives, Harris would have to denounce the majority of her political career and completely reject and apologize for her bigoted comments,” he said.
But this would mean the vice president would need to “completely abandon her radical agenda against human life, the nuclear family, and religious freedom.”
“Harris is on record with a willingness to persecute pro-lifers and anyone who opposes LGBT ideologies,” Hichborn warned. “Taking her agenda to its logical conclusion, Harris’ America would not just eliminate religious freedom, but all freedom, making citizens into automatons to do the bidding of the state.”

American Life League’s president agreed.
“As someone who has watched Harris over the years, including her legal attempt to crush David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress, I can say from firsthand experience that Harris detests truth, beginning of course with Christ and His Word, not to mention her revilement at preborn babies and their defenders,” American Life League president Judy Brown told LifeSiteNews in a media statement.
“Harris has never stood for morality, ethics or truth.”
Israeli Strike on UN-run School that Housed Displaced Families in Nuseirat Kills 23 Palestinians
On July 16, an Israeli strike on a United Nations-run school offering housing for displaced families in central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp claimed the lives of 23 Palestinians and wounded 73 others.
The Israeli strike left the school in al-Razi partially destroyed, and the aftermath of the attack showered debris in the schoolyard and the classrooms used as shelters by displaced Palestinian families.
One man collecting body parts from the victims said many civilians were killed, including the lives of several children, whose bodies were “torn up” during the attack, with “nothing left of them.”
The casualties included Mohammad Meshmesh, a local journalist. According to the government media office in Gaza, this increased the number of journalists killed in the war to 160.
The deadly Israeli strike on the school left many people in a state of shock while they watched rescue workers removing several bodies from under the rubble, reported Nuseirat resident Riyad Abu Shanab. The resident added that a quick look around the place offered a chilling view of many “body parts strewn around.” He added that he also could have been hurt or died if he hadn’t left to go to the toilet to wash his hands when the strike hit.

The target was a school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) that has since been turned into a shelter for the many Gazans displaced by the conflict. Survivors of the attack shared that Israel also targeted another school earlier on July 15. Both attacks have claimed many lives, with the survivors left with nowhere safe to go.
When the missile hit nearby, Um Alaa Abu Daher said she was sitting with her daughter and niece in a classroom on the ground floor. She added that after the strike, flames and smoke covered the area.
Israeli forces blame active “terrorists” for the attack
The Israeli military has claimed that they attacked the school because “terrorists” were allegedly active in the area. It also said that it will be investigating reports of civilian casualties.
Israeli attacks throughout the Gaza Strip on July 16 have claimed the lives of at least 57 Palestinians, including 17 individuals who were killed in a strike near a tented area offering housing for displaced people in the humanitarian-designated area of al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, located in southern Gaza.
The attack on al-Mawasi followed previous air strikes earlier this month that claimed the lives of around 88 people and wounded 289 others in a displaced people’s camp in the same area.
Since October 2023, the Israel-Palestine war has claimed the lives of more than 38,000 Palestinians. According to data, the majority of the dead are women and children.
Israel said it had killed or wounded 14,000 Hamas members and eliminated half of the organization’s leadership. Israel also insisted that the al-Mawasi strike was targeting Mohammed Deif, the Hamas military leader. However, the Palestinian group denied that he was affected by the attack.
The UNRWA reported that Israeli forces have hit at least 70 percent of its schools in Gaza since the war began in October 2023.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, the UNRWA said more than 95 percent of the schools were being used as shelters when they were attacked. The organization added that at least 539 people sheltering in UNRWA facilities have died during the attacks.
“Nowhere is safe. The blatant disregard for UN premises and humanitarian law must stop,” said the UNRWA.
Hamas issued a statement condemning Israel’s deliberate attacks on the displaced families in UNRWA’s al-Razi school in the Nuseirat camp, along with the attacks on the al-Mawasi area west of the city of Khan Younis, which was “declared a safe area.”
The group criticized the attacks as a “brutal and shameful act that is a scar on humanity,” adding that America, Israel’s loyal ally in the ongoing war, was complicit in the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Kamala Harris is a Sexual Revolution Radical, Whether it be on Abortion or the LGBTQIAAP2S+ Agenda
(LifeSiteNews) — With a blitzkrieg of endorsements culminating in a staged phone conversation with the Obamas, Vice President Kamala Harris—previously best-known for botching her role as border czar and dropping out of the presidential primaries before a single vote was cast—has locked up the Democratic nomination. As I noted previously, the Democratic candidate for president of the United States is an abortion extremist, and I was grateful to see that Donald Trump is hammering her on this point despite his refusal to consider abortion as a federal issue:

But Harris is all in on more than abortion. I have yet to see anyone comment on this, but I believe she is the first presumptive presidential nominee of the United States to include her pronouns in her social media bios. On X, her bio reads: “Fighting for the people. Wife, Momala, Auntie. She/her.” This may see innocuous at first glance—especially as we have become used to this sort of virtue-signalling—but Harris’s decision here is deliberate, and it matters. What she is signalling, with the inclusion of her pronouns, is an endorsement of the transgender movement’s view of reality.
Keep in mind that declaring your “preferred pronouns” used to be a fringe practice—but that has begun to change. Students at many universities are expected to announce their preferred pronouns. Corporations demand them on name badges or email signatures. In healthcare and government, it is swiftly becoming standard. Journalists, entertainers, politicians, and other elites are getting on the trans train. The practice is framed as mere politeness, but it is actually a potent victory for trans activists. They understand that pronouns are premises, and that by declaring yours, you are validating theirs.
The fact that Harris is all in on the LGBT movement is no surprise, of course—the Biden-Harris administration hosted drag queens in the Oval Office (for the signing of the Orwellian “Respect for Marriage Act”) and topless trans activists on the White House lawn. But at the outset of her campaign, she is publicly affirming to the activists that she is firmly onside, and that they can count on her. In a move that constituted yet another first, Harris appeared on the finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to kick off her campaign and urge Americans to vote:

I recognize that we have grown used to this sort of thing by now, but again—it is hugely significant. Vice President Kamala Harris is the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, and one of her very first moves was to appear on an LGBT reality show with drag queens. RuPaul himself is a radical LGBT activist who has accurately referred to drag queens as “the Marines of the queer movement.” That Harris wished to begin her campaign by joining the Marines of the queer movement gives us a glimpse of the sort of president she plans to be.
Harris’s run has been greeted with enormous enthusiasm by LGBT activists. Over 1,100 LGBT celebrities, leaders, and politicians signed an open letter endorsing her, noting her twenty-year backing of LGBT causes. Harris was an early proponent of redefining marriage, and she officiated some of America’s first homosexual “marriages” back in 2004, when a solid majority of Americans still opposed it. In 2008, when she was serving as California’s attorney general, she refused to defend Proposition 8 in court. Prop 8 was the state constitutional amendment banning homosexual “marriage” that a majority of Californians voted for in a referendum.
In 2013, when a court permitted an injunction against the democratic will of the people to stand, Harris officiated the first homosexual wedding in California.
This has been a truly wild election cycle—in just a matter of weeks, we’ve seen the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, J.D. Vance as the vice-presidential pick, President Joe Biden forced out of the race against his will by Democratic power-brokers and their allies in the press, and Vice President Kamala Harris become the recipient of an overnight political coronation despite the fact that she was scarcely mentioned as a replacement option in the immediate aftermath of Biden’s disastrous debate performance.
But while all of this is going on, it is important to remember who Kamala Harris is, and what she represents. She is not defending norms or democracy, as she claims. In fact, for her entire career, she has been fighting to overturn norms and subvert democracy, so long as it served the interests of the sexual revolution.
LA Sheriff ‘Urged’ Attorney General to Prosecute Reporter for Leaking List of Bad Cops
More corruption is rising to the surface in the City of Angels after it was revealed that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department a number of years back leaked a list of problem deputies to Los Angeles Times reporter Maya Lau, only to then turn around and investigate her for it.
The LA Times reported this week that the then-LA County Sheriff’s Department – there has since been a change in sheriffs – “urged the state attorney general to prosecute” Lau, this after a seven-year investigation that began back in 2017 at the order of then-Sheriff Jim McDonnell.
McDonnell’s team launched a probe for answers as to who leaked the list, which contained about 300 names, to Lau. That probe quickly lost steam but was resurrected in 2018 after Alex Villanueva’s office took over the case, this according to a recently unearthed 300-page investigative file.
Lau was classified by the sheriff’s department as a criminal suspect for allegedly receiving “stolen property,” aka the bad cop list. Diana Teran, the department’s constitutional policing advisor, was later identified as the leaker even though she was the one who reported it in the first place. Teran vehemently denies any involvement.

New LA sheriff says cops don’t “monitor journalists;” they “respect the freedom of the press”
A few years pass and 2021 arrives, bringing with it a transfer of the case to Attorney General Rob Bonta. Bonta’s office declined to prosecute Lau back in May, citing “insufficient evidence.”
“I’m glad this investigation is over, and it’s an outrage that the sheriff’s department would criminally investigate me as a reporter for doing my job,” Lau commented back in 2021 after the case was dropped.
“It’s the kind of action that’s aimed at intimidating journalists from digging into government agencies.”
The department issued a comment about the case more recently stating that under the leadership of Sheriff Luna, anyway, “we do not monitor journalists and we respect the freedom of the press.”
As a journalist, added David Snyder, executive director of the First Amendment Coalition, Lau is immune from the type of attempted prosecution that LA’s old sheriff allegedly tried to execute against Lau.
“You’re not authorized to break into a file cabinet to get records,” Snyder said. “You’re not authorized to hack computers, but receiving information that somebody else obtained unlawfully is not a crime. Publishing that information is protected under the First Amendment.”
The leaked records in question date all the way back to 2014 when Teran worked at the Office of Independent Review. At that time, she was compiling a Brady List of officers with a history of disciplinary problems, relying on information from both the district attorney’s office and sheriff’s department databases.
In late 2014, Teran stopped adding new names to the list because she believed the sheriff’s department had started to maintain its own list. One year later, Teran joined the sheriff’s department as a constitutional policing advisor, after which she came to the realization that Lau and other reporters were inquiring about deputies on the Brady List.
Teran was suddenly concerned, based on these developments, that her list had been leaked. After accessing public records requests, Teran learned that there were striking similarities between her list and the reporters’ list.
AG Rob Bonta’s office then received the case in 2021, only to drop it rather promptly.
“A criminal with a badge is still a criminal,” one commenter noted about the critical importance of rooting out bad cops from law enforcement.

Islamist Cleric Fundraising to Convert Remote Scottish Island into Muslim ‘Homeland’
The owner of a tiny island off the coast of Scotland has vowed to reject any offers to purchase the land made by a radical Islamist cleric intent on creating a new Muslim homeland governed under Sharia law.
Torsa, the 270-acre island to the west of Scotland is on the market for around £1.5 million (€1.78 million) and is uninhabited but for a 3-bedroom farmhouse included in the sale.
The Mail on Sunday newspaper reported how controversial radical Islamist preacher Sheikh Yasser al-Habib had plans to purchase the land and develop a safe haven for Muslims from around the world.
Al-Habib had announced his desire to build a school, hospital, and mosque on the island, and for residents to adhere to Sharia law — the fundamental legal code of Islam, despite the territory remaining under the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom.
However, MailOnline reported on Monday that the current owner assured concerned locals he would not sell the land to anyone considered to be a bad fit with the local community.
The island is around 1.2 miles long and 0.5 miles wide. It is only accessible by private boat and has not been permanently inhabited since the 1960s.
Local residents of adjacent islands expressed their contempt for Al-Habib’s plans.
“The proposal for setting up a sectarian religious outpost on a rural Scottish island is immoral,” said Alastair Redman, a local councillor.
“The fact that he wants to involve an idyllic setting in prejudiced preaching is simply unacceptable,” he added.
Alastair Fleming, a local resident of the neighboring island of Luing, said locals would hamper any plans with planning objections and questioned how viable Al-Habib’s plans were for an island so remote and small.
“It is not an easy island to set up a community on and I am perplexed as to why he has chosen Torsa. Even if he did buy the island, I do not think he would be able to carry out the works he is proposing,” he told MailOnline.
The Kuwaiti-born preacher, now based in London, has a chequered past. He claimed asylum in Britain after being sentenced to 10 years in prison in his home country for upsetting Sunni Muslims by “questioning the conduct and integrity of some of the ‘companions’ of the prophet Muhammad.”
In Britain, he has run military-style training regimes in the car park of a mosque in Buckinghamshire, and is the founder of controversial satellite channel Fadak TV, which has been scolded by Britain’s media regulator Ofcom on multiple occasions for “hate-filled broadcasts.”
The cleric, however, remains a popular figure among his audience with a following in the hundreds of thousands and is using his television channel to raise funds to buy the island.
Savills, the estate agent conducting the sale, insists it remains on the market.
