If Douglass Mackey is guilty of election interference, what about Google?

Douglass Mackey.

You probably know him as “Ricky Vaughn,” that Twitter guy from 2016 who posted the funny memes about Hillary Clinton—“Avoid the line. Vote from home. Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925”—and got in a lot of trouble for his efforts. So much trouble, in fact, that he’s been convicted of election interference under a Reconstruction-era anti-Klan statute and is due to spend almost a year in federal prison if his current appeal fails. I pray it doesn’t.

Douglass Mackey’s case is one of the most egregious miscarriages of justice in recent times. A testament to the degree to which American justice has been politicized and is being wielded in a partisan manner to destroy not just the leaders, but also the followers, of the American populist movement created by Donald Trump.

The great victory of 2016, the biggest upset in American history, must never be allowed to happen again, and the best way to do that, the regime clearly feels, is to prosecute those who made it happen in the first place. The prosecutions serve as individual punishment and demonstration to all those who might seek to emulate Trump, Bannon and even a humble sh*tposter like Ricky Vaughn.

What is now Title 18, USC Section 241 was one of a number of statutes passed in response to the Klu Klux Klan’s violent attempts to suppress the black vote in the South after the end of the Civil War. In 1871, passage of the Ku Klux Klan Act brought nine counties in South Carolina under martial law, leading to thousands of arrests. Eleven years later, the act was declared unconstitutional and repealed, but by that point it had done its work. The threat from the Klan had largely subsided. A century later, Title 18, USC Section 241, with new additions like Section 245, was used during the Civil Rights era to provide remedy for renewed attempts to prevent black Southerners from voting.

Since the events of 6 January 2021, Title 18 USC Section 241 has been used as a bludgeon against anybody the regime wants to put away for the simple crime of opposing it, and not just Douglass Mackey. Trump, Rudy Guiliani, the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys have all found themselves wrapped up in federal suits under Section 241.

But Mackey’s case is particularly chilling, because it directly concerns the First Amendment and the sacred right to free speech that, along with the right to bear arms, is the basis of American political life. As legal scholar Eugene Volokh has said, there’s no reason to believe it’s constitutional to prosecute lies that prevent people from voting (although it’s worth noting, in the Mackey case, that the prosecution couldn’t even establish that—they provided no evidence anybody who saw the “Text Hillary” meme was actually prevented from voting in the normal manner). Politicians lie all the time for momentary and long-term advantage. We all know this. Should they be charged with voter suppression under Section 241? Yes or no? Why?

Mackey’s prosecution under Title 18, USC Section 241 is spurious. Totally. It’s unconstitutional, as I say. But that doesn’t mean the legislation, in itself, lacks merit or application today.

Here’s one application I would suggest: Use it to pursue Google, and anybody else—any individual or organization—that can be shown to have colluded with the tech giant in suppressing access to information about former president Donald Trump and the events that took place on that fateful day in Butler, Pennsylvania, two weeks ago.

Yesterday, users reported that searches for “assassination attempt on tr” were completed by Google’s search engine with “assassination attempt on Truman” and other searches totally unrelated to Trump’s dice with death.

Typing the entire phrase “assassination attempt trump” yielded no autofilled results at all.

It was like the whole event had been erased from the digital realm.

Soon enough, Twitter owner and newly minted Trump donor Elon Musk weighed in, tweeting a picture that showed the search engine completing the phrase “President Donald…” with “president Donald duck” and “president donald regan.”

“Wow, Google has a search ban on President Donald Trump! Election interference?”

You betcha that’s election interference. If Douglass Mackey tweeting a meme he didn’t even make, to a few hundred thousand people, without any discernible impact on voting behaviour, is election interference, then we’re talking election interference times a million. Whereas Mackey’s intent was simply to make people laugh—mission accomplished—Google’s intent is absolutely to influence the outcome of the election, something it’s more than capable of doing as the great arbiter of our digital age.

Google’s not alone. Google, the other Big Tech companies and the mainstream media all want the public to forget that Trump came with millimetres of death on that stage in Butler. They don’t want the public to see that stunning  picture of Trump, bloodied, defiant, fist raised aloft—FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!—beneath a trailing Stars and Stripes. They don’t want the public to find out as much as they can about the absurd incompetence of the Secret Service and law enforcement and maybe even the deliberate malfeasance that could have ended Donald Trump’s life in front of the whole world.

They want you to forget, because they know that Trump’s bloody stand alone could propel him to the White House for a second term, and that no amount of astroturfing on social media—“Kamala is brat!” “Childless cat ladies for Kamala!”—can match the transcendent power of that image. They want you to forget about it all and believe this is an election where Trump, not the regime, is the threat to democracy. If you hear anything it should be FBI Director Christopher Wray’s weasel words about “shrapnel” and if you read anything, it should be his agency’s pathetic statement about “bullet fragments,” followed by a Newsweek piece on how Trump wasn’t even shot at all.

Assassination attempt!? What assassination attempt!?

This is coordinated, all of it, and everyone involved, from those who gave the order to change the algorithm to the programmers who did it should be charged with election interference. Throw the book at them.

The problem, of course, is that there isn’t enough time before the election to do this. The best we can hope for is that popular outrage and political pressure will make Google and the other Big Tech firms back off, if not fully, then at least partially. We must keep the information flowing.

But when Trump gets in, he really must go after Big Tech, starting with Google. Make them pay. Big time.

Oh yeah, and pardon Douglass Mackey too.

Watch: Tate Brothers Defend Christianity After Olympics Opening Ceremony Mocked Religion

Andrew and Tristan Tate slam Olympics’ woke depiction of Last Supper featuring obese woman and transvestites.

Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate protested the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony and encouraged members of the Christian faith to stand up for their beliefs after the event was accused of mocking Jesus Christ and Christianity.

The brothers’ protest came as the Olympic games kicked off Friday with a bizarre opening ceremony that featured drag queens and strange Biblical references widely interpreted as insults to the Christian faith.

In one particularly sacrilegious happening, the Last Supper painting paying homage to Christ’s last meal with his disciples before his crucifixion was recreated by a group of transvestites and an obese woman.

While Andrew reportedly converted to Islam in 2022, the Tates took to the streets of Romania over the weekend informing the public outside the French embassy that the Olympics had mocked the country’s predominant religion.

“There has to be a point you stand up for your beliefs,” Andrew told a crowd.

Do you stand with them? pic.twitter.com/j5FyH89IUI

“If you have something in life and you don’t stand up for it, it will not last. If you have a house and you don’t maintain it it will fall down, business if you don’t work it’s gone, relationship if you don’t care of her she’ll leave you — it’s the same with religion. If you Christians don’t start standing up for things when they mock you publicly and openly you’ll have no religion left.”

Andrew and Tristan later red-pilled police officers who came by to investigate their act of protest.

While the Olympics organizing committee apologized and attempted to claim the incident was just a coincidence and not intended as a dig at Christianity, the fat woman portraying Jesus solidified the connection with an Instagram post stating, “OH YES! OH YES! THE NEW GAY TESTAMENT!”

As Christianity comes under attack, will more Christians heed the Tates’ warnings and defend their faith?

‘She’s Gonna Get Slaughtered’: James Carville Warns That Kamala Harris’ Horrible Record Will Be Exposed

“There is gonna be a time of struggle of definition as to who Vice President Harris is. And we better be ready for that,” says Democrat strategist.

Democrat political strategist James Carville warned his party that Kamala Harris will face an onslaught of political attacks exposing her record and past remarks that her campaign must prepare for.

“In the first 24 hours of Vice President Harris’s campaign, she raised a record $81 million. Democrats have been significantly less enthusiastic about Biden than Republicans for about Trump until now. What is the key for the vice president to sustain this excitement for her candidacy throughout the rest of the campaign?” PBS’s Margaret Hoover asked Carville last week on her show Firing Line.

Democratic strategist @JamesCarville tells @MargaretHoover the “key question” for the @KamalaHarris campaign will be how to sustain the enthusiasm she has generated in the first week.

“People wanted a different choice than #DonaldTrump and #PresidentBiden. And they got it.” pic.twitter.com/80tV0Fgs6l

— Firing Line with Margaret Hoover (@FiringLineShow) July 29, 2024

Carville cautioned against the Democrats’ initial enthusiasm for Harris, noting they were simply relieved that their candidate was no longer Joe Biden.

“That’s the key question,” Carville replied. “And the first thing is to recognize what happened. What happened was that people wanted something different and that she just projects the fact that she is, you know, excited about the future. And there was no policy that anyone was pushing and there was no particular group that was behind it. It was just a general feeling that people wanted a different choice than Donald Trump and President Biden. And they got it.”

The “Ragin’ Cajun” then warned that now the dust has largely settled with Harris being the clear Democratic nominee, Republicans and the Trump campaign will be quick to expose her record.

“And there is some good, not that…Look she’s gonna get slaughtered. They’re coming out…they’re coming,” Carville said. “And this is just part of that. Will be no different than it was any other time. And they have got to get up and get ready. And they’ve got to be able to defend and attack at the same time. There is gonna be a time of struggle of definition as to who Vice President Harris is. And we better be ready for that.”

“But I feel like we are in a better position today than we were Sunday morning. And we’re doing this interview on Wednesday. So I will take small victories where I get them,” he added.

Carville is right — Harris’ radical far-left record, lack of accomplishments, and string of policy failures are quickly being exposed:

Ron Paul: Supreme Court Takes Two Steps Forward, One Step Back.

If the courts will not protect online speech from the government, then Congress must so do by passing the Free Speech Protection Act.

We can all probably agree that this has been one of the strangest Julys in memory. From the attempt on Trump’s Life to the Republican National Convention to the bizarre “coup” against Biden in the Democratic Party. With all this, it’s easy to forget some truly momentous events that happened this month.

For example, the Supreme Court recently handed down three decisions of particular interest to defenders of individual liberty and limited, constitutional government. In two of these cases, the court limited the ability of federal agencies to exercise legislative and judicial authority. Unfortunately, in the third one the court refused to protect free speech from government officials.

In the case of Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, which dealt with federal regulations requiring commercial fishers to pay the costs of having federal inspectors on board their vessels, the Court overturned the Chevron deference. Created in the 1984 case of Chevron vs. Natural Resources Defense Council, Chevron deference requires federal courts to accept a federal agency’s interpretation of their statutorily granted powers as long as the agency’s interpretation is “reasonable’ and does not directly contradict federal statutes governing the agency.

The Chevon deference gives federal agencies almost unchecked authority to determine the scope of their authority. The agencies then enforce their interpretations of their powers via regulations. This combination of legislative and executive power violates the principle of separation of powers. Federal agencies also exercise judicial powers via the use of Administrative Law Judges (ALJs), who are employees of the federal agencies, to adjudicate cases brought by the agencies against American citizens. Fortunately, the Supreme Court also limited the power of ALJs the case of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) v. Jarkesy. In this case, the Court held that Congress violated the 7th Amendment right to a jury when it granted the SEC the power to impose fines on individuals accused of securities fraud.

Unfortunately, the Court failed to defend the people’s First Amendment rights against the administrative state when it refused to hear the case of Missouri v. Murphy. This is the lawsuit brought against the federal government by Americans who were censored by social media companies acting at the behest of government officials. Many of the censored posts contained information about COVID that, unlike the COVID misinformation produced by government, was based on facts and not fear.

The court ruled the plaintiff did not have standing to sue because social media companies removed posts without being coerced by the government and the government stopped pressuring social media companies to engage in censorship after the COVID panic subsided. These are irrelevant to the fact that government officials pressured private social media companies to remove certain posts and will likely do so in the future.

If the courts will not protect online speech from the government, then Congress must so do by passing the Free Speech Protection Act. This bill forbids federal employees from taking any action that interferes with American citizens ability to engage in First Amendment protected activity. Those who violate the rule will face fines, suspension, or dismissal, and could even be banned from future federal employment. Another important piece of legislation is the REINS act, which requires agencies to obtain Congressional approval for major regulations. Congress must also begin reading the budget of all regulatory agencies with the goal of eliminating all unconstitutional federal bureaucracies.
