Democrat Defends Kamala’s Flip Flops: ‘She’s a Human Being Who Learns New Things Every Single Day’
Democrat Rep. Laphonza Butler (Calif.) defended Kamala Harris’ inexplicable reversals on many of her radical policies, claiming she’s just “a human being” who “learns new things” all the time.
CNN’s Dana Bash reviewed Harris’ previous policy stances, including her push to “defund the police”, decriminalize illegal border crossings, support for “Medicare for All”, including for illegal aliens, and asked Butler what voters are supposed to make of Harris suddenly reversing on those policies.

“And has the ability to take the time and effort to hear the concerns of all people. I think that they should be certain that she is a fighter and a leader who’s gonna do the work on their behalf to ensure that there is an economy that ensures that no one is left behind, that there’s a climate — that we’re going to continue to address the climate crisis in a way that ensures that there’s a Earth here for young people and for next generations of leaders.
“I think that they should absolutely believe that she is a leader who cares about people and who’s gonna put them first as she has done her entire career,” she added.
Bash again asked, “But no concern about flip-flopping?”
“No! No concern about flip-flopping,” Butler replied. “This is a part– our country changes every single day, the conditions of our country changes, uh, every single day. The vice president has been consistent in her values and there are lots of different ways to solve the challenges that are in front of us.”
“We’ve gotta make sure we have a candidate who’s listening, uh, and a candidate who is a leader who, frankly, again, puts the people first,” she added.
The reality is Harris, who was rated as the “most liberal senator” in 2019, has backtracked on many of her radical policies because she’s now the Democrat Party’s presidential nominee and must appeal to the broader electorate by portraying herself a moderate, much like Biden did in his 2020 presidential bid.

The UK government’s advisor on political violence and disruption suggested using COVID-style lockdowns to quell the unrest that’s been embroiling the UK over the last week following the murder of three young girls at a dance class.
Videos have been circulating on social media of roving Muslim gangs armed with weapons in northern towns and cities, including a group calling itself the “Muslim Defense League.”
The British police have been accused of “turning a blind eye” to the violence of these groups, while viciously attacking protestors, after Prime Minister Keir Starmer characterized the protesters as “far-right thugs.”
Starmer doubled down on Sunday and warned protesters that they “will regret taking part in this disorder” and will “round up those whipping up the protests online.”
He also committed to allocating millions of pounds to “protect mosques.”
This is the worst possible statement delivered in the worst possible way. Starmer sounds like he is part of an army of occupation, not the legitimate prime minister of the country. Insane.

Unemployment Ticks Up
The US unemployment rate rose for the fourth straight month in July to 4.3%, up from 4.1% the previous month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday. The figure is the highest since the onset of the pandemic.
The US added just 114,000 jobs last month, down from 206,000 recorded in June, and well below the 215,000 jobs per month added over the last 12 months, the data showed. Economists polled by Reuters had expected the figure to increase by 175,000.
The number of unemployed people across the US rose by 352,000 to 7.2 million, a notable increase from the 5.9 million registered a year earlier, when the jobless rate was 3.5%.
Although a number of sectors did still see employment gains – notably healthcare – the breadth of job gains continued to narrow, with 49.6% of industries reporting an increase in employment, down from 56.0% in June.
Average hourly earnings increased 0.2% in July after climbing 0.3% in the previous month. In the 12 months through July, wages increased 3.6%, demonstrating the smallest year-on-year growth since May 2021, and leaving wage growth just above the 3.0%-3.5% range seen as consistent with the Fed’s 2% inflation target.
Hiring may have been disrupted by Hurricane Beryl, which delivered a blow to the economy of Texas last month, some analysts believe. Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter, told AP that employers could have cut worker hours and made temporary layoffs, suggesting that they are nevertheless optimistic that a rate cut could help turn things around.
Friday’s report has added further fuel to mounting concerns that the Federal Reserve has waited too long to cut rates. On Wednesday, the Fed opted to keep its benchmark interest rate in the 5.25%-5.50% range, where it has been for more than a year.
Fed Chair Jay Powell indicated that the first rate cut of the post-pandemic era could come in September. Economists polled by Reuters are also expecting rate cuts in November and December.
