Trump Trolls Harris Admin’s High Food Costs with Groceries at Press Conference
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called an emergency press conference to counter the Kamala Harris campaign’s claims she’ll fix the economy, displaying everyday groceries to illustrate how food costs have become unaffordable for average Americans under her reign.
Addressing reporters outside his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf resort, Trump spoke surrounded by various groceries, including coffee, sweets, meat, fruit, bread, gallons of milk, and breakfast cereals.
“Harris has just declared that tackling inflation will be a ‘Day One priority’ for her,” Trump said. “But Day One for Kamala was three and a half years ago. Where has she been, and why hasn’t she addressed it?”

Large posters displayed behind him, which he also posted to Truth Social, also highlighted price increases on several supermarket items.

“Kamala’s inflation nightmare continues to cost the average American family $1,100 every single month,” Trump noted.
The president’s classic trolling stunt, highlighting groceries are unaffordable for average Americans, was an instant hit on social media.

Harris on Friday will reportedly announce a plan to combat high grocery prices by implementing Soviet-style food price controls under the guise of banning price gouging.
Watch Trump’s full press conference here:
Kamala Wants Price Controls, and It’s Not Because She Has “Good Intentions”
The Kamala Harris campaign announced today that it will present a plan to ban “price gouging” by food suppliers. In other words, the Harris campaign plans to mandate price controls.
Get ready for rising prices and shortages in meat and other groceries, because that’s where laws against “price gouging”—which are price controls—lead.
Vice President Kamala Harris will propose a federal ban on corporate food and groceries price gouging when she lays out her policies in a North Carolina campaign speech Friday.
According to the campaign, the proposal against price gouging is part of the larger Harris economic policy platform she plans to roll out publicly at a Friday campaign rally in Raleigh.
“There’s a big difference between fair pricing in competitive markets, and excessive prices unrelated to the costs of doing business,” the Harris campaign said in a statement. “Americans can see that difference in their grocery bills.”
Directly addressing soaring meat prices, Harris will focus on corporate consolidation in that market as one reason meat prices are so high.
One doesn’t need to know the arcane intricacies of economic theory to understand the effects of price controls. We know what happens in the wake of price controls because it’s happened before in the United States.
In the 1970s, thanks to years of big-time federal spending on wars and welfare programs, the US abandoned its gold obligations under the Bretton Woods system, and Nixon closed the gold window. Knowing that this would cause prices to rapidly rise, the Nixon administration also implemented a number of wage and price controls as part of a “temporary” 90-day freeze on wages, prices, and rents. These were the first peacetime price controls in US history. As you might guess, however, price controls did not end after 90 days. Only the “freeze” lasted 90 days. After that, prices would be governed by a “Price Commission” and “Pay Board” that would only slowly abolish price controls—but not until after the 1972 election, of course.
By early 1973, many producers had endured price controls for 18 months. US Senate report then concluded that price controls had caused a breakdown in energy production and distribution. Fuel shortages were “far more extensive than anticipated.”
A freeze on prices meant it was no longer profitable for many producers to bring products to markets. The supply of goods and services fell while prices rose. Prices accelerated into 1972 when the CPI rose 3.8 percent, followed by a CPI increase of 8.8 percent in 1973 and 12.2 percent in 1974.
Price controls on food led to predictably disastrous results. Under Nixon’s price controls, farmers couldn’t sell chicken products at prices high enough to justify the cost of feeding the chickens. In the early 1970s, farmers killed over a million baby chicks. Similar problems occurred in the beef and pork industries with farmers sending pregnant sows to the slaughterhouse while dairy cows were butchered.
With prices already being forced upward by the inflationary pressure of Nixon’s runaway government spending and abandonment of the dollar’s last link to gold, price controls pushed prices even higher. Price controls were a key factor in the 1970s economy, now notable for stagflation and crippling cost-of-living increases.
Politically, however, Nixon’s price control scheme was a big success. Following the administration’s announcement on price controls, the Dow went up nearly 33 points, the largest one-day increase up to that time. Naturally, The New York Times showered praise on Nixon’s plan. Moreover, Nixon and his surrogates claimed that Nixon was “doing something” about rising prices. The public loved this “activist” president who was intervening to stop the fat cats from profiting off rising prices. When Nixon was finally forced out of office by the FBI’s orchestrated Watergate scheme, his plummeting popularity had nothing at all to do with the runaway inflation he caused. From the political side of things, experience suggests that price controls worked very well. They helped Nixon win re-election.
Indeed, to this day, when critics of the bad old days of the 1970s talk about the stagflation and economic malaise of that era, the critics usually only mention Jimmy Carter, who was saddled with the effects of Nixon’s experiment. Nixon—who crippled the 1970s economy with his monetary inflation and price controls—gets a free pass.
So, we shouldn’t be surprised that the Harris campaign is planning to enthusiastically announce its plans for price controls. The Harris people can claim she is “doing something” about the economy. This will all be couched in terms of “greedflation” and corporate windfalls and other economic myths used to claim that today’s rising prices—fueled by monetary inflation, massive deficit spending, and a runaway regulatory state—are actually the fault of “too much capitalism.”
Put another way, the price-control plan is nothing more than a cynical ploy to get Harris elected and to scapegoat farmers, ranchers, and other food producers.
I say “cynical” because, at this point, it is beyond naive to think that the Harris campaign is only pushing for price controls because Harris and her advisors have “good intentions,” but are “economically illiterate” and just don’t understand the “unintended consequences” of this policy. It is absurd in the year 2024 to think that no one in the White House or Harris campaign is aware of the effects of price controls.
They know. They just don’t care. Price controls are a political policy. The impoverishing economic effects are just “collateral damage” that are an easy price to pay for the ruling class that will have no problem paying its grocery bills. It is likely that Nixon knew what would happen also, and he didn’t care. What mattered was the 1972 election.
The problem isn’t that Harris’s policy advisors don’t know things about price controls. Politicians push these policies because the public doesn’t understand how price controls work. Outside of organizations like the Mises Institute, where would they learn such things? The economic “experts” in the legacy media never mention the historical realities of price controls. Certainly, few Americans were ever taught in their government-funded schools about the Nixon Shock or what happens when governments plan the economy.
For those who bother, however, to learn about economics and economic history is to understand how the regime is ripping us off. Without this knowledge—and without some understanding of the benefits of private property and free markets—it’s easy for politicians to simply assert that their latest tax or regulation will make everyone better off. Trump does it when he calls for higher taxes in the form of tariffs. A lot of people believe it. Harris is now doing the same thing with price controls. Many will believe her and happily support the latest government policy that will further crush them under a rising cost of living.

How the Russia-Ukraine War Could Go Nuclear–By Accident
A nuclear tragedy could be “dangerously close,” according to the UN’s top nuclear watchdog.
“Let me put it plainly–two years of war are weighing heavily on nuclear safety at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant,” said Rafael Mariana Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). “…Reckless attacks must cease immediately.”
Zaporizhzhia is a small town at the edge of Russian-occupied territory in Ukraine, home to Europe’s largest nuclear plant of the same name. The plant once employed 11,000 workers and provided power to seven countries, but since coming under Russian control, five of its six reactors have remained in cold shutdown. Only one remains partly operational, supplying power to the plant and nearby town.
Many locals and Ukrainian plant workers allege abuse, unsafe working conditions, and even torture by Russian authorities, all of which has caused mounting stress and suffering while leaving the plant vulnerable to human error.
“Now they take people directly from the nuclear plant, say that someone betrayed them, and throw them into basements,” said Dmytro Orlov, mayor of nearby Enerhodar, who finally fled the city. He claimed Russian overseers forced locals to work without pay, food, or sleep.
“It’s simply unimaginable,” Orlov added.
Throughout the war, both sides have used the plant as leverage, citing the risks local attacks pose to the security of nuclear materials inside the plant. The plant drew widespread international attention after a series of kamikaze drone strikes in April, which evoked fears of a Chernobyl-esque disaster that could spread far beyond Ukrainian borders.
“We cannot sit by and watch as the final weight tips the finely balanced scale,” the IAEA’s Grossi warned.
Concerns of a nuclear disaster are back in the spotlight this week, as Russia and Ukraine spat over which side caused a fire that sent black smoke and flames curling from a cooling tower.
“We are waiting for the reaction of the world, we are waiting for the reaction of the IAEA,” Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video post. “Russia must be held responsible for this.”
Russian representatives denied involvement in the fire and turned the accusations back on Ukraine, claiming the conflagration was caused by Ukrainian attacks on a nearby city and that it was an act of “nuclear terror.”
Damage to the tower from this latest attack reportedly poses no radiation hazard to the plant or to the surrounding region, though IAEA officials have requested entry to the premises to inspect the wreckage and ensure safety from any possible fallout.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is back on the offensive, carrying the war that has been fought almost entirely on Ukrainian soil straight to their enemy’s front door. Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to “kick the enemy out” of its new position in Russian territory, sparking fears of a dramatic retaliation.
“What kind of negotiations can we even talk about with people who indiscriminately strike at civilians, at civilian infrastructure, or try to create threats to nuclear power facilities?” Putin complained following the Ukrainian incursion. “What can we even talk about with them?”
The situation between the two countries and their allies remains highly volatile, posing safety and economic hazards that could echo across the globe.
This won’t be the first time Russia has used energy shutoffs to force capitulation–just ask the Europeans who suffered and died during the 2023 heat wave, which was exacerbated by Russian-backed energy shortages–but it’s one of the first times in recent memory that nuclear material has been directly in the strategic crosshairs.
Best-case scenario: Prices will continue to rise in the wake of a cold war waged via sanctions, embargoes, and harmful economic policies. Worst-case scenario: More countries are forced to enter the war. Either option could be bad news for non-physical investments, which can be quickly swallowed up by fluctuations in an agitated market.
In a wry quip from Slovenia’s UN Security Council delegate: “Playing with fire is unadvisable–playing with nuclear fuel rods, even less so.”

Ex-Google CEO-Turned ‘Licensed Arms Dealer’ Eric Schmidt Creating ‘Powerful’ AI ‘Robotic War’ Machines For ‘Offensive’ Fighting
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt recently spoke with a group of Stanford University students about his military drone company White Stork.
The two goals of the company is to “use Ai in complicated, powerful ways for these, essentially robotic war” and to manufacture said robots cheaply, according to the tech guru.
Schmidt nervously rubbed his arm as he said, “Because of the way the system works, I’m now a licensed arms dealer. So, a computer scientist, businessman, arms dealer.”
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt says that the Russian invasion of Ukraine prompted him to become a licensed arms dealer in order to integrate AI and robotics into warfare pic.twitter.com/WPHga4dwQR
— Tsarathustra (@tsarnick) August 15, 2024
Trying to justify his move into physical warfare, the former Google head told the students, “Now you sit there and you go, why would a good liberal like me do that? And the answer is that the whole theory of armies is tanks, artilleries, and mortar and we can eliminate all of them and we can make the penalty for invading a country at least by land essentially be impossible.
It should eliminate the kind of land battles.”
A moderator asked Schmidt, “Does it give more of an advantage to defense versus offense? Can you even make that distinction?”
He replied, “Because I’ve been doing this for the last year, I’ve learned a lot about war that I really did not want to know. And one of the things to know about war is that the offense always has the advantage because you can always overwhelm the defensive systems. And so you’re better off as a strategy of national defense to have a very strong offense that you can use if you need to. And the systems that I and others are building will do that.”
Lastly, Schmidt explained he’s creating the AI weaponry using a private company “because of the way the laws work” and that he’s doing so “with the help of the support of the government.”
“So, it goes straight into Ukraine and then they fight the war,” he stated.
This move for Schmidt is not actually that surprising as Google itself has deep ties to the Pentagon and CIA.
Essentially, the globalists are using Ukraine as a proxy to test out new “Skynet”-style technology for future wars.
The Stanford speech was removed from the university’s YouTube channel after Schmidt received backlash for criticizing people who work from home instead of in-person.
Flashback: Tim Walz Bailed on 2022 Debate
Dr. Scott Jensen, a former opponent of Democrat Tim Walz, is warning Donald Trump running mate JD Vance that the Minnesota Governor could bail on an upcoming debate since that same thing happened to him.
On Oct. 23, 2022, Jensen stood on stage beside an empty podium after Walz, the incumbent, refused to show up to a gubernatorial debate hosted by St. Paul ABC affiliate KSTP.
“Be careful, Tim Walz knows a thing or two about not showing up to debates,” Jensen wrote on X Thursday after Walz accepted an invitation to debate on Oct. 1.
