Politico Claims Trump May Use Assassination Attempt to ‘Gain Power’ Like Mussolini

“An authoritarianism scholar explains how Mussolini used assassination attempts on his life to gain power — and how Donald Trump could do the same,” Politico says.

An opinion piece published by far-left outlet Politico claims former President Donald Trump may try to “gain power” by exploiting the assassination attempt against him as Italian dictator Benito Mussolini once did.

“Assassination attempts are an effort to change a political order in one fell swoop. But history shows that they often backfire, and more often serve not to eliminate a strongman, but to strengthen him and his cult of personality. Mussolini showed how that’s done,” wrote New York University history professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat on Saturday.

Opinion: An authoritarianism scholar explains how Mussolini used assassination attempts on his life to gain power — and how Donald Trump could do the samehttps://t.co/fPjakWNHoY

— POLITICO (@politico) August 3, 2024

She described how Mussolini had used the media to play up the attempt on his life in 1926 after a bullet grazed his nose while giving a speech.

For Fascists, the leader did not just represent the nation, as in democratic tradition, but physically embodied it. He took the hits for the nation, and so his wounds were his own, but also belonged to the people on whose behalf he toiled.

That is why Mussolini, a journalist by training who attended to every detail of his image, posed for pictures after the attack, the bandage becoming a kind of badge of honor. And it is why each failed attempt became fodder for his personality cult by seeming to prove his macho toughness, resilience and invincibility. “The bullets pass, Mussolini remains,” the Italian leader wrote of the assassination attempts in his 1928 autobiography.

Ben-Ghiat then suggested that Trump would have likely cracked down on press freedoms and banned opposition parties if he was in power when he was shot, but admitted “we can’t know for sure.”

The history of Mussolini’s consolidation of power and the attacks that punctuated that process carry lessons for our understanding of the mentality and methods of Donald Trump after the attempt on his life at a rally last month.

The comparison between Mussolini and Trump can be overstated, and for one thing, Trump is not in power at the moment. He is an aspiring strongman, but we can’t know for sure how he would have reacted had the shooting occurred when he was in the White House, and whether he would have used it to crack down on critics or expand his authority.

What is clear already is that the assassination attempt has made Trump’s personality cult more robust and more powerful for his followers. His claims of being a victim targeted on their behalf are now more credible and his persona cemented as an indomitable fighter. And he knows it.

Ben-Ghiat went on to argue that Trump’s decision to defiantly pump his fist into the air after he was shot was not so much an act of bravery as it was a calculated public relations ploy to appease his “personality cult.”

Familiarity with the behavior of strongmen gives Trump’s actions in the dramatic minutes after he was shot a crucial frame of reference. Most people in that situation would have had the instinct to flee to safety. Not Trump, who told the Secret Service agents to “wait, wait” so he could put his shoes on, expose his face, arm and hand to the cameras and crowd, and deliver the fist pump and “fight, fight, fight” message that immediately created an iconic image.

With that gesture, Trump tended to his personality cult, reassuring millions of his devoted followers that he had survived and was unbeaten — just as Mussolini did with his photo almost 100 years before. That Republicans at the GOP convention began attaching white bandages to their ear in honor of Trump’s own wound would surely have impressed Mussolini.

Predictably, Politico’s Pravda-like op-ed was soundly ratioed on X.

“Politico is simultaneously calling for more assassination attempts on Trump and blaming them on Trump. However much you hate ‘journalists’, especially evil Democrat cowards like this, it isn’t enough,” one user said.

As we’ve reported, the media, technocrats, and Big Tech have been working overtime trying to downplay, minimize, dismiss, and censor the attempted assassination against Trump on July 13, fearing the incident would greatly elevate his profile and standing among the American people.

Don’t Say They Didn’t Warn Us

You don’t have to believe in esoteric predictive programming to know that our elites often signal their intentions in advance

You don’t have to believe in the most elaborate theory of predictive programming—the idea that our elites seed information about their plans for the future, deliberately, because it fulfils some vital function in their twisted Moloch-worshipping religion—to understand that our elites often do signal their intentions, and sometimes they do so well in advance. That means months, even years, ahead of schedule. And they use modern electronic media in all their forms to do it.

Maybe there are some people in government and the deep state who really do have some fully developed, esoteric theory about the cosmic significance of programming people’s minds for nefarious ends. After all, there are some very weird people with very weird art on their walls in Washington DC—*COUGH* TONY PODESTA *COUGH*—but you only need to see that sometimes, in order to make a plan work, it’s necessary to prepare people for it in advance. By preparing people’s minds, you can ensure they react in the right way. Whatever nasty thing it is you want to get them to get used to is less of a shock, and that means their behaviour is more predictable and therefore manageable. That’s the idea, anyway.

Just look at what happened with the attempt on Trump’s life, last month in Butler, Pennsylvania. Ever since Trump walked down that escalator in 2016, we’ve been told that Trump is Orange Hitler and that his plan is to create a thousand-year Orange Reich in which libtards and Mexicans are systematically hunted and exterminated (or just forced to leave the US for Canada or Mexico); in which women are made to surrender control of their bodies to MAGA-hat wearing hordes of “Christian nationalists;” and in which the world is going to be engulfed in the flames of nuclear war when Trump decides—big baby that he is—that some world leader hasn’t showed him the respect he deserves as president and former host of The Apprentice.

The aim of course was to make Trump look bad and mobilise popular opposition to him, but the ceaseless rhetoric about Trump being a threat to democracy, an avowed enemy of the American founding and its ideals, also served another, much more sinister, purpose: to legitimise any and all means, including murder, to stop him.

This became increasing clear towards the end of last year, as it became more obvious that the regime’s strategy of preventing a second Trump term—the endless lawfare, the character assassination, the constitutional challenges, the backstabbing from Republicans—was not going to stop the Orange Man. The regime was stuck with a incumbent who increasingly resembled an extra from Night of the Living Dead and few, if any, credible options to replace him. (It’s worth remembering that, until five minutes ago, Kamala Harris was not popular among Democrats. She was not “brat.” Nobody found her comments about coconuts endearing. She wasn’t “code-switching” either: she was just pretending to be an African American, and real African Americans could see through it. That’s why she got less than 4% of the vote in the 2020 primaries: nobody liked her. Nobody still does.)

And so that’s why, at the end of last year, writing for Human Events, I predicted there would be an assassination attempt, simply on the basis of what was being said and by whom. There was more and more speculation in the mainstream media about what might happen if a presidential candidate died on the campaign trail, and then there was a sudden uptick in comparisons of Trump and Julius Caesar, the obvious implication being that Trump is America’s Caesar and that only some kind of “Brutus Option”—a literal knife in the back on the floor of the Senate—could stop him. The most revealing of the Trump-Caesar comparisons came from Robert Kagan, husband of deep-state dominatrix Victoria Nuland. “A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable,” he said, under a photomontage of Trump’s face and a bust of Rome’s great dictator. Unless…

It was as if the deep state was speaking to us directly, telegraphing its intentions. Or maybe it was just trying to push a sad mindf*cked loser like Thomas Matthew Crooks over the edge.

Either way, we were told what would happen: Trump would be subject to an attempt on his life. And then he was. It was a shock, but it shouldn’t have been.

So what should we make of the recent joint warning from the FBI and CISA—theCybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency—that “election infrastructure” is at risk this November from a cyber attack?

In a statement, the two agencies said the following: “This public service announcement is to raise awareness that Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on election infrastructure, or adjacent infrastructure that supports election operations, could hinder public access to election information, but would not impact the security or integrity of election processes.”

“The PSA is part of the agencies’ ongoing commitment to provide the public with information and the election infrastructure community with the support they need to run safe and secure elections.”

Twitter users are already saying this is a clear indication that some electronic interference will be used to steal the election from Donald Trump.

“How do they know an attack on “election infrastructure” wouldn’t impact election results in advance?!” Tweeted Rogan O’Handley, a.k.a. “DC Draino.”

“Is this their plan?

“To have an attack that shuts down key election infrastructure and then when everything comes back online we all have to accept the results?!

“And I’d bet those results will mysteriously support Kamala.”

I don’t think this is fanciful at all.

If you’ve been paying attention to INFOWARS, you’ll know that last month’s Crowdstrike outage—which grounded planes, brought business to a standstill and may even have ruined your day or week with the dreaded Windows Blue Screen of Death—also affected voting machines in Maricopa County, Arizona. Yes, that Maricopa County, Arizona. The one where all the funny business keeps happening.

Maricopa is a bellwether for election fraud, whatever the mainstream media wants you to believe.

Oh yeah, and while you’re Googling Maricopa County’s recent history of election-fraud accusations, look up the links between Crowdstrike and the investigation into the hacking of the Democratic National Committee in 2016.

Draw your own conclusions.

Ultimately, there can be no excuses about this election, not after 2020 and not after what we’ve seen in the last few weeks. Any talk of “too big to rig” or “but they wouldn’t go that far” needs to die, right now. Donald Trump was millimetres from having his head blown apart in front of the world. A mere turn of the head was enough to turn history on its head. Complacency has no place here.

There are still about twelve weeks until the election, which will have to be enough time to prepare for every possible eventuality. The good news is, it looks like the Trump campaign is taking the threat  of election fraud, including electronic interference, seriously. Back in June, The New York Post ran a story that Lara Trump is “building an army of ‘100,000 poll watchers and over 500 lawyers’” to ensure that as free and as fair an election as possible takes place.

The simple truth is, if the election is stolen again, we only have ourselves to blame.

Don’t say they didn’t warn us.

Border Patrol Apprehends 23 Illegals at ‘House Party’ in Arizona

U.S. citizens claimed they were asked to host party and had no idea ‘attendees’ were illegal aliens

Nearly two dozen illegal aliens were apprehended last week in Arizona, along with two men who claimed they were hosting a house party and did not know who the ‘guests’ were, according to reports.

On July 23 at around 3:20 p.m., the Yuma Police Department (YPD) received a call from a local resident who said they had observed “six or seven individuals” emerge from under a tarp covering the back of a pickup truck after it parked at a nearby house.

YPD responded to the scene and a U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Anti-Smuggling Unit was called to surveil the residence.

USBP agents stopped a man leaving the house in a truck with a “fake toolbox” — a false compartment often used to smuggle persons or drugs — and he admitted to being in the country illegally, according to Border Report, which reviewed documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

Agents then approached the house and encountered two U.S. citizens identified as David Martinez and James Michael Torres, along with a third man who was also determined to be an illegal alien.

Martinez consented to a search of the property during which authorities located 22 more illegal aliens.

During questioning, Torres claimed he had met a man named Frank in Mexico who had asked him to host a “party.”

Torres told officials people began arriving in groups but claimed he was unaware they were illegal aliens.

Martinez offered a similar tale but apparently acknowledged that he was aware known human smugglers were dropping people off at his house.

Two illegals found at the residence told authorities they had crossed into Arizona from Mexico and were picked up by smugglers who dropped them off at the Yuma house.

A total of 23 illegals were brought to a Border Patrol facility for processing, while Torres and Martinez were arrested on charges of harboring illegal aliens.

An investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.

Harris Will Be ‘Defining Herself’ With Ad Spending So She Can Skip Out On Interviews, Says Dem Strategist

CNN panel pushes back: “There’s a difference between her putting out an ad that’s all the things she wants to say and then being challenged on some things,” says S.E. Cupp.

Kamala Harris aims to “define herself” with ad blitzes so she won’t have to do any interviews explaining her policy positions, a Democrat strategist claimed.

“CNN News Central” host Kate Bolduan noted on Friday that Harris still has not sat down for any interviews since being selected as the Democrat nominee, and doing interviews is part of the race to “define a candidate.”

Dem Strategist Tells CNN Host Harris Will Be ‘Defining Herself’ With Ad Spending So She Doesn’t Need To Do Interviews pic.twitter.com/NEp8ZdguKd

— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) August 2, 2024

Democrat strategist Julie Roginsky dismissed Bolduan’s concern and argued that typical Americans won’t care if Harris doesn’t do interviews.

“This is something that…you guys all care about as reporters, you want to sit with her, but the truth of the matter is when I’m sitting around my dinner table thinking about how to pay for college for my kid or about how to afford my mortgage or any of my taxes,” Roginsky started saying before Bolduan interrupted to say that Harris’ “positions have changed.”

“Except for the fact that she’s going to spend her $300 million defining herself on TV and on social media the way she wants, right?” Roginsky continued.

“And she’s going to ultimately sit with you guys, I believe. But the bottom line is, that’s not what he should be coming after her on. He should be coming after her on positions that affect regular people who are voting. If you’re standing there saying, ‘well, you’re not sitting for an interview,’ the average person doesn’t have time to sit around worrying what Kamala Harris is doing, they just want to make sure she’s doing something to help them.”

But CNN political commentator S.E. Cupp pushed back against Roginsky, explaining that there’s a difference between putting out campaign ads that make a candidate look good and them being challenged on certain policies by the media.

“They might not know that they care, but they should, because we‘re going to ask questions that they have and that they don‘t have access to her to ask,” Cupp told Roginsky.

“And there’s a difference between her putting out an ad that’s all the things she wants to say and then being challenged on some things. And that ultimately benefits voters, her own voters, who should know her very well and intimately what she wants to do,” she added.

As Bolduan pointed out, Harris has still not participated in a meaningful interviews since she was coronated as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee after the party forced Joe Biden to drop out.

Dilbert creator Scott Adams panned the Democrats for selecting yet another candidate who can’t handle questions from the press.

“The Democrats’ top two choices for president (Biden then Harris) are both unable to handle questions. Great job, Democrats,” he wrote on X.
