House Dems Pressure FEC to Censor Grok’s AI Art Generator Before Election: ‘Critical For Our Democracy’
House Democrats are pressuring the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to impose new rules to censor the X platform’s Grok-2 AI art generator before the presidential election.
Democrat House members sent a letter to FEC Acting General Counsel Lisa Stevenson pleading that the agency “restrict” the Grok-2 AI art generator because it “has the potential to severely misinform voters, causing confusion and disseminating dangerous falsehoods.”
“This election cycle we have seen candidates use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in campaign ads to depict themselves or another candidate engaged in an action that did not happen or saying something the depicted candidate did not say,” the letter reads.
The letter went on to complain about Trump using “misleading” AI-generated memes and argued censoring Grok is “critical for our democracy.”
On August 14, 2024, X (formerly Twitter) introduced their AI image generator Grok-2 with few rules to combat its misuse. In fact, there are no policies that would allow the platform to restrict images of public figures that could be potentially misleading.
Less than 24 hours after its debut, fake images of presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama appeared on X. Candidate Trump has even gone as far as promoting false endorsements from celebrities like Taylor Swift on his social media platforms.
“The proliferation of deep-fake AI technology has the potential to severely misinform voters, causing confusion and disseminating dangerous falsehoods. It is critical for our democracy that this be promptly addressed, nothing the degree to which Grok-2 has already been used to distribute fake content regarding the 2024 presidential election,” the letter concludes.
But FEC Chairman Sean Cooksey swiftly shut down the Democrats’ request, asserting that restricting free speech is “not optional.”
“Let me be clear: the First Amendment is not optional. I’ll never support shutting down political speech online, including your memes,” Cooksey responded on X.

Trump last week shared an AI image of Taylor Swift dressed as Uncle Sam with the caption, “Taylor Wants YOU to vote for Donald Trump!” to which Trump added, “I accept!”
Trump has since deleted the post, possibly to avoid a costly lawsuit since Swift has a reputation for sending cease-and-desist letters to anyone who uses her name, image or likeness without obtaining prior consent.
“I don’t know anything about them, other than somebody else generated them,” Trump told Fox Business. “I didn’t generate them.”
“Somebody came out. They said, ‘Oh look at this,’” he continued. “These were all made up by other people. AI is always very dangerous in that way.”
But the Democrat Party isn’t concerned about “disinformation” given they’re the progenitors of plenty of false narratives (Russia collusion, COVID lab leak, Hunter Biden laptop, Jan. 6, Jussie Smollett, etc.).
Rather, they’re terrified that AI-based memes are devastating their narrative, especially when shared by President Trump.

Biden “border czar” and Democrat nominee Kamala Harris claims if elected she’ll build a wall at the southern border, a bizarre reversal on an initiative first spearheaded by former President Donald Trump.
Harris announced her renewed commitment to securing the border during her speech at the Democrat National Convention last week, stating she’d support a bipartisan border security bill, which incidentally includes $650 million in funding for building Trump’s wall.
Harris’ support for a physical barrier at the border comes in light of previous vocal criticism of Trump’s wall, which she once dubbed a “medieval vanity project.”

Pressed on the flip-flop by Axios, a Harris advisor claimed the bill “didn’t include any new money to continue building the wall,” however, Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) who negotiated the bill told Axios it most certainly contains wall funding.
“It requires the Trump border wall,” Lankford said. “It is in the bill itself that it sets the standards that were set during the Trump administration: Here’s where it will be built. Here’s how it has to be built, the height, the type, everything during the Trump construction.”

Don Lemon Spars with Jen Psaki: No One Knows Kamala Harris & Black Voters Side with Trump Because of Stimulus Check
Don Lemon, fired from CNN in 2023 and now doing ‘The Don Lemon Show’ on X, joined Jen Psaki on her MSNBC show ‘Inside with Jen Psaki’ Monday to discuss the current state of the 2024 Kamala Harris campaign.
During the interview, Lemon said the quiet part out loud when asked by Psaki what Democrat voters thought of Harris – the elephant in the room which Democrat media lackeys seem to wish to keep hidden.
“But for the most part, in Pittsburgh or at the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City, in Ohio especially, many people did not know who she was; they weren’t familiar with her,” Lemon said, before referencing voter’s opinions on Donald Trump. “But for him, I think that they thought he’s better for the economy and that, again, he brought money into the community or that he was on black people’s side.”

Lemon had been traveling around interviewing black people ahead of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), according to Mediaite. Lemon referred to the interviews as ‘eye-opening’ for him.
“I don’t know if it was surprising but it was certainly eye-opening to hear so many people, even people of color [blacks and browns] and women, saying they are going to support Donald Trump,” Lemon said.
Lemon said that black people will vote for Donald Trump because Trump gave them a $1,200 dollar stimulus check.
“But there were a lot of black men, Jen, who said they were supporting Donald Trump simply because he gave them a stimulus check,” Lemon said. “He gave them $1,200 back when he was president. They did not somehow remember that the current president also gave them a stimulus check, except his name wasn’t on it.”
Psaki appeared unsettled hearing that the blacks were voting for the man who’s name was on the stimulus check. Lemon was saying that due to Joe Biden’s name being absent from his stimulus check, the black people didn’t understand who had given it to them.
Political commentator DeVory Darkins analyzed the Psaki Lemon interview along with some of Lemon’s on-the-street interviews and gave his perspective.
“There’s a thing called reality and a thing called Trump Derangement Syndrome and that’s what you see on the news every single day,” Darkins said.
