Jaws Redux? Multiple Shark Attacks At US Beaches on Fourth of July
Several people in the US were injured by sharks over the Fourth of July holiday, drawing an eerie parallel to the 70s Jaws film, which depicted shark attacks during this time period.
In one horrific incident that happened in South Padre Island, Texas, a woman required emergency medical attention after sustaining a severe shark bite that tore off a majority of her left calf muscle.

Distressing footage of the event showed beachgoers screaming and crying as a group frantically pulled the woman from the water, while a shark continued to circle near the shore.

One witness described chaos similar to that seen in “Jaws,” saying, “The lifeguards were trying to get people out of the water and everyone’s yelling to come out…It was a pretty scary sight with all the blood and everything.”
Four people overall encountered the shark at South Padre Island this week, resulting in two bites, one of which was severe.

A second person was bitten by the shark, while one was grazed and another injured fending off the shark, Dowdy told KRGV.
The second bite victim was also taken to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. One of the two bite victims was flown out for “further treatment,” Police said Thursday night.
City and county officials later reportedly located the bull shark and were able to release it further into the ocean.
Texas Game Warden Capt. Chris Dowdy said he believed the rare and unusual attacks happened “due to weather changes in anticipation of Hurricane Beryl,” reports ValleyCentral.
An Ohio man was also bitten on the foot during a July 4th celebration in Florida’s New Smyrna Beach on Thursday.
The attacks are reminiscent of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 classic, Jaws, where a great white shark terrorizes a fictional New York resort over the July 4th holiday, prompting the mayor to cover up the incidents to avoid scaring away tourists.
Previously-Deported Illegal Charged With Sexual Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl in Florida
A male illegal alien has been charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl in Florida just days after he was deported from the U.S., authorities say.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced the arrest of 24-year-old Jose Chan on June 26.
Chan was charged with sexual battery against a victim under the age of 18.
Authorities believe Chan preyed upon a 14-year-old girl at her home on February 25.
The victim disclosed the alleged abuse to family members who then brought her to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital.
“A medical examination of the victim showed a positive finding for sexual abuse,” OCSO explained in a press release.
“Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab results also found evidence of the girl’s DNA on Chan, via buccal swabs obtained from the defendant.”

Incredibly, Chan had been removed from the U.S. to his home country of Guatemala barely two weeks before the alleged attack.
“The FBI confirmed the identity of Chan due to his past deportation by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on February 9th, 2024,” OCSO said.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer against Chan on June 27.
An investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.

Joe Biden delivered a July 4th speech outside the White House Thursday attempting to show he’s still mentally fit after last week’s disastrous debate, however he might have made matters worse.
During an impromptu speech, Biden stumbled over his words multiple times and struggled to maintain his train of thought, leaving Democrats apprehensive over the prospect he will remain the party’s nominee facing off against Donald Trump in November.
In one particularly troublesome part of the event where Biden went teleprompter-free, which was inexplicably promoted by paid White House Gen Z influencer Harry Sisson, he appeared to say he wanted to wrap up the speech early and sneak out to let people waiting outside get in.

“There’s 7,000 people waiting at the gate to get in. So if I don’t finish this, they can’t come in. So maybe if you’re hanging around, I’m going to sneak back out. That’s okay, all right? Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Biden told the crowd.
Next, in the same speech Biden appeared to confuse Independence Day with Memorial Day, saying,
“Remember that famous expression? Hello. They also serve who only stand and wait. I remember when our son was deployed, my wife would go to the stand in the sink in the morning drinking her coffee and saying that prayer, worrying, worrying, always concerned, and all of you. So we owe you.”
Finally, Biden in another non sequitur pivoted to claiming traffic congestion is a thing of the past, saying,
“One last thing. I used to think when I was a senator, there were always congestion on the highways. There’s no congestion anymore. None. We go on the highway, there’s no congestion. And so the way they get me to stop talking, they’ll say, We just shut down all the roads, Mr. President. You’re going to lose all the votes if you don’t get in. But anyway, I’ll be back out. Thank you.”
Elsewhere during the day, at an evening Fourth of July celebration Biden declared “Ho! Ho! Ho!” as VP Kamala Harris almost referred to him as “vice president.”
Overall, things seem to be going very well — for Republicans.
