Fast-Food Chains Cut Staff Ahead of California’s $20 Minimum Wage Increase
Fast-food workers in the state of California are being laid off as companies prepare to comply with the state’s imminent $20 minimum wage requirement.
California’s FAST Act (Fast Food Accountability and Standards Recovery Act) was signed into law by Newsom last September, and goes into effect April 1.
According to Business Insider, several pizza restaurants including Pizza Hut and its franchisees Southern California Pizza Company and PacPizza plan to lay off up to 1,200 delivery drivers in order to make ends meet.
Another California pizzeria, Round Table Pizza, said they would also have to eliminate delivery drivers due to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) new law, claiming there’d be a “transfer of jobs” to third-party delivery services.
“That said, delivery service fees may increase, and the customer will most likely see even higher prices as a result of this ongoing shift,” reads a statement from Round Table Pizza. “This is the reality of today’s restaurants.”
Indeed, the minimum wage increase is now putting restaurants in the predicament of forcing costs to be passed on to the consumer, however, that may not necessarily work, as one McDonald’s franchise owner noted.
“I can’t charge $20 for Happy Meals,” Scott Rodrick, who owns 18 McDonald’s restaurants in Northern California, told the Wall Street Journal, adding he’s “leaving no stones unturned” when it comes to cost-saving.
Brian Hom, the owner of the Vitality Bowls company, said he’s had to cut staff down to two people from the typical four employees, resulting in longer wait times for customers, adding he’s also increased prices by 10%.
“I’m definitely not going to hire anymore,” Homs told the Journal.
Alexander Johnson, who opened Scooter’s Coffee shop in Nevada, said he was thinking of opening a store in San Francisco, but that due to the minimum wage law the prospect is no longer under consideration.
“It pains me to think about shutting down stores or laying people off,” Johnson told the Journal. “I love California, and I’m very sad about what’s going on.”
Despite the upcoming wage increase, some workers say it won’t be enough.
“When you’re in a tough financial situation, even though it’s not enough to be comfortable, it does help,” said 25-year-old McDonald’s cashier Jaylene Loubet, who lives with her parents, adding, “Food is going up as well, rent is going up as well, bills are going up as well. Even with the $20, money is still going to be tight.”

Watch: RFK Jr. Drops Covid Truth Bombs On Chris Cuomo Show
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joined ex-CNN anchor Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation program this week for an epic interview.
One segment of the discussion going viral online featured Kennedy blaming recent presidents for increasing America’s debt and Cuomo defended Donald Trump’s economy as it was harmed due to the Covid pandemic.
Countering, RFK said, “President Trump came in and said, ‘I’m gonna run the country like a business.’ And then he shut down 3.3 million businesses. What businessman would do that? He handed the keys to every one of our businesses in this country to Anthony Fauci.”

“It was an illness that spread indoors, not outdoors. And we KNEW that from the beginning.”

Cuomo claimed Trump was simply following the suggestions of his advisors during the pandemic, and Kennedy described a life lesson he learned from his uncle, President John F. Kennedy.
“When my uncle was president during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the whole world was on the edge of a nuclear war, he had eleven of the thirteen top advisors telling him he needed to invade Cuba. If he had gone ahead and did that it would have been the end of the world, we now know,” RFK said.
President Kennedy refused to go along with the majority consensus and instead personally dove into the minutia surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis, allowing him to question his advisors and come to the best decision for the American people.
Using this story as an example, RFK explained during the pandemic he would have known the medical establishment was violating “every pandemic protocol developed over fifty years.”
“You do not shut down a country for a respiratory illness because everybody knows it’s going to go through anyway and it’s an illness that’s spread indoors, not outdoors and we knew that from the beginning,” Kennedy stated.
The establishment is clearly terrified of another Trump presidency, but would likely be just as furious with someone like Kennedy taking power as their medical technocracy would be exposed and destroyed.
Illegal Alien Arrested for Home Burglary in Upstate New York
An illegal alien was arrested for breaking into a private residence in a town in upstate New York, authorities announced this week.
The incident unfolded just after 8 p.m. on March 22 in Union, located in Broome County near Binghamton.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was alerted about suspicious activity at an apartment building in town.
“The investigation revealed that Miguel A. Martinez, age 31, had broken into a second-floor apartment through a bedroom window. The noises alerted a downstairs neighbor, who called 911,” BCSO explained a press release this week.
BCSO patrols, with the help of New York State Police, tracked Martinez down nearby and arrested him.
Martinez was charged with second-degree burglary, which is a Class C Felony in New York.
He was being held at Broome County Correctional Facility this week, according to BCSO, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified about the arrest.
Local media has described Martinez as an “‘undocumented’ asylum seeker, who crossed the southern border” from his home country of Mexico.
An investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
InfoWars has been documenting the surge of crime fueled by the ongoing Biden border invasion.
