Biden Halts Shipments of US-Made Ammunition to Israel – First Time Since October 7

White House refusing to comment.

The United States is cutting Israel off from ammunition made here at home, this according to two Israeli officials familiar with the matter.

For the first time since October 7, the U.S., at the order of the Biden regime, canceled a shipment of ammo to the Jewish state that was intended to replenish Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Netanyahu regime, meanwhile, wants to know why.

It appears as though the Biden regime is having to grapple with overwhelming public opposition to America’s support for Israel’s actions in Gaza. The president and his people are trying to play both sides of the conflict, at times calling Netanyahu to account for how U.S.-made weapons and ammunition are being used.

With the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) seeking the arrest of Netanyahu and others in the Israeli government, President Biden continues to press Israel for reassurances that its military is using the arms in accordance with international law.

Back in March, Israel signed this letter assuring the Biden regime that all is fine and dandy in Gaza.

White House refusing to comment

When pressed for answers about why the sudden change of heart concerning the ammo shipments, the White House reportedly refused to comment. The same non-response was issued by the Pentagon, the State Department and the Israeli Prime Minister’s office, according to Axios.

The biggest concern seems to be Netanyahu’s impending invasion of Rafah, a southern city in the Gaza Strip where the last remaining displaced Palestinians – around one million of them – are sheltering after being driven there from the northerly parts of Gaza by the IDF.

Much of the world is concerned about the innocent lives in Rafah that stand to be slaughtered by the IDF, which could explain why the Biden regime is holding back all the ammo that was supposed to be sent there last week.

Netanyahu has made it unequivocally clear that no matter what kind of hostage deal is forged with Hamas, the Israeli military will invade Rafah and unleash what is sure to become the worst phase yet of the Gaza genocide and ethnic cleansing operation.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Netanyahu issued the following statement, which hints at tensions between his regime and the Biden regime over the Gaza genocide.

“In the terrible Holocaust, there were great world leaders who stood by idly; therefore, the first lesson of the Holocaust is: If we do not defend ourselves, nobody will defend us,” Netanyahu said.

“And if we need to stand alone, we will stand alone.”

Last week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Israel and had a “tough” conversation with Netanyahu about the Rafah operation. During the meeting, Blinken informed Netanyahu that “a major military operation” will not go over well publicly, and will only further erode U.S.-Israel relations.

Israeli leaders reportedly understand that Biden “is sincere,” according to White House spokesman John Kirby, when he says changes to U.S. policy concerning Israel will come “should they move ahead with some sort of ground operation in Rafah that doesn’t take into account the refugees.”

Mediators in Egypt and Qatar continue to push forward in pursuit of a hostage deal that would lead to a pause in the fighting, though Netanyahu is insistent that the forging of one will not change his plans for Rafah in the coming days.

On Sunday, Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant visited Israeli military forces in Gaza, commenting that he saw “worrying signals” that Hamas is not planning to move toward an agreement on releasing any of the remaining hostages.

“This means that an operation in Rafah and in other parts of Gaza will take place in the very near future,” Gallant commented.

US Munition Used in Israeli Air Strike That Killed Health Workers in Lebanon, Says Report

US Munition Used in Israeli Air Strike That Killed Health Workers in Lebanon, Says Report

Analysis by The Guardian shows joint direction attack munitions were used in March air strike in south Lebanon.

The Israeli military killed seven healthcare workers in an air strike in south Lebanon deploying a US-made bomb, according to an investigation by The Guardian.

According to the leading rights group Human Rights Watch, the attack was described as a violation of international law – a description of this kind could invoke US laws that would put a halt to American arms shipments to Israel.

The attack occurred on 27 March and targeted an ambulance centre belonging to the Lebanese Succor Association in the town of al-Habariyeh. The air strike killed seven volunteer paramedics, all between the ages of 18 and 25.

According to an analysis by The Guardian, the shrapnel recovered by first responders to the attack revealed that the bombs used in the attack were the 500lb Israeli MPR bomb and a joint direction attack munition (Jdam), a US-manufactured missile guidance kit.

The newspaper had the pictures of the weaponry verified by Human Rights Watch and an independent arms expert.

Jdams are manufactured by the American company Boeing. The guidance kits are attached to bombs, which turn them into guided missiles.

The revelation of this use of weaponry on healthcare workers comes ahead of an 8 May deadline in which the Biden administration must deliver a report on whether Washington finds Israel’s use of American weapons in violation of US or international law.War on Gaza: Israeli strike kills seven paramedics in south Lebanon

Israel has already sent a notice to the Biden administration saying it is not violating either set of laws, and now the administration must report to Congress whether it agrees with Israel’s assessment.

Middle East Eye reached out to the State Department for comment on this report but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

Since Israel’s war on Gaza began last October, the administration of US President Joe Biden responded with full diplomatic support for Israel. The administration also fast-tracked weapons shipments to the country.

Israel’s military has so far killed more than 34,000 Palestinians in its war on the Palestinian enclave, the majority of them being women and children, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

It has also been exchanging cross-border fire on the Lebanese movement Hezbollah in southern Lebanon since early on in the war on Gaza.

Israel has killed 16 medical workers in Lebanon since October. Ten of those workers were killed in a single day in March.

Healthcare workers and medical personnel are protected under international law, and it is considered a war crime to target them or medical infrastructure like hospitals or ambulance centres.

Under the Leahy laws, named after former US Senator Patrick Leahy, the US is barred from providing aid or assistance to foreign security forces when there is credible information that those forces have committed “gross violations of human rights”.

Several human rights groups have raised concerns throughout Israel’s war on Gaza that the US-supplied munitions to the country have left Washington potentially complicit in several allegations of Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The Biden administration is also facing a lawsuit in the United States, where Palestinians inside and outside of Gaza have accused the country of complicity in Israel’s “genocide of the Palestinian people” by supplying weapons and arms to the country’s military.

‘She Was Forced to Eat Dog Food’ – Syrian Refugee Convicted For Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend to Disneyland Paris Where He Beat, Tortured And Raped Her

“My client then had a leash put around her neck. She was forced to eat dog food and drink from the dog’s water bowl.”

A violent Syrian migrant has been convicted of kidnapping his Belgian ex-girlfriend, transporting her to Disneyland Paris, billed as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” and continuing to torture and rape her over the course of days.

The horrifying story played out on Monday in a Bruges courtroom in Belgium, where the 24-year-old victim from Zedelgem described the hell she went through with Mohamad S., who fled to Spain from Syria in 2013. After eventually moving to Belgium, the Syrian met the victim and they began a relationship.

The young woman was abused for years by Mohamad S. but never filed a police complaint and even moved in with him in March 2021. The Syrian was reportedly obsessed with the 24-year-old cheating on him and forced her to take photos of her surroundings and friends when she was out until eventually forcing her to cut off social contacts, according to Belgian news outlet HLN.

“She had to cut ties with her friends and close all her social media profiles. My client was not allowed to just be happy and she had to offer him sex every day,” said the victim’s lawyer, Joris Van Maele.

When she finally broke up with him in the spring of 2023, Mohamad S. did not take the news lightly. On June 18, 2023, the victim woke up to find Mohamad sitting on her bed after obtaining the keys to her apartment from a mutual friend. What began next was the beginning of a “weekend of horror, the kind you don’t even see in the movies,” said Van Maele.

The Syrian accused the woman of cheating and “began to beat her savagely moments later.” He struck her with fists multiple times, causing profuse bleeding, leading the victim to begin choking on her own blood. He then forced her head into the toilet and began flushing multiple times.

The victim’s lawyer describes what transpired next, saying: “My client then had a leash put around her neck. She was forced to eat dog food and drink from the dog’s water bowl. The accused carved a tattoo on her with a knife and then started calling her supposed lovers on FaceTime.”

The Syrian then forced the woman to perform sexual acts in front of various contacts on FaceTime that the ex-boyfriend believed were her “supposed lovers.”

Kidnapped and transported to Disneyland Paris

The torture continued until the woman was smuggled out of the apartment and forced into the suspect’s car, where he transported her to Disneyland Paris to a hotel room he had booked.

At Disneyland Paris, the cycle began once again, where Mohamad beat, strangled and raped her repeatedly throughout the weekend.

“She had tried to speak to someone at reception, but in vain,” said the woman’s lawyer.

The victim’s mother and roommate discovered blood inside the apartment and phoned the police when they noticed the victim had disappeared.

However, after the weekend of violence at Disneyland Paris, Mohamed released her, actually dropping her off at a police station. The police then arrested the perpetrator just a few days later.

Mohamed S. still awaits sentencing in the case on June 3, with prosecutors requesting nine years in prison, along with five years of supervision upon release. Mohamed refutes the attempted murder charge, and his lawyer is requesting that he be transferred back to Spain, saying: “Give him another chance to do something with his life. He is not a criminal, but someone with a big problem.”

Ukraine Warns Nationwide Power Outages Coming Amid ‘Massive’ Russian Strikes

This latest attack saw at least three thermal plants belonging to the country’s largest private energy operator DTEK badly damaged.

Large-scale Russian aerial strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has become an almost daily event, but Wednesday saw a “massive” wave of Russian missiles launched on vital power grid sites, according to Ukraine authorities.

Ukraine is now warning of nationwide power cuts. “Russians have launched a new massive attack on thermal and hydroelectric power plants,” the state-owned Ukrenergo energy operator announced. “There may be power cuts for household and industrial consumers across Ukraine… due to new damage to the equipment of Ukrainian power plants caused by Russian strikes.”

Energy facilities across six regions were targeted, with Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko saying, “The enemy has not abandoned plans to deprive Ukrainians of light” following “another massive attack on our energy industry.”

This latest attack saw at least three thermal plants belonging to the country’s largest private energy operator DTEK badly damaged.

Russia has sustained these strikes ostensibly in response to Ukraine forces’ ongoing cross-border attacks which have also targeted Russian energy. Moscow upped its air attacks on Ukraine following repeat Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.

Russian authorities further said Wednesday that the death toll from a cross-border drone attack on the Belgorod region which happened Monday has risen to eight killed.

A drone strike on the Russian village of Berezovka, which lies less than 10km from the Ukrainian border, killed a group of workers for the agricultural company Agro-Belogorye and wounded 32 others.

“Another civilian has died from the drone attack in the Borisovsky district on May 6,” the region’s governor said Wednesday on Telegram.

The Zelensky government has meanwhile continued to complain that weapons from the West are not being transferred to Ukraine fast enough. Kiev is still waiting for a stalled F-16 program to assist with defending the skies.

Officials have also been demanding Patriot missiles. While Spain and Germany have been the latest to transfer a few Patriot batteries, Zelensky has still warned that it’s not enough to defend Ukrainian cities and vital infrastructure from Russian attacks.

On Wednesday, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmygal unveiled a new government task force to “coordinate work on overcoming the consequences of Russian energy terror.”

Russia Will Not Allow Global Conflict – Putin

The country’s strategic forces are always ‘on alert’ against potential threats, the Russian president has said at the Victory Day parade.

Russia will do all in its power to prevent a “global collision,” but will also not allow any threats to the country, President Vladimir Putin has said in his address to the Victory Day military parade in Moscow.

At the event celebrating the 79th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany, Putin noted that the Russian military is “always on alert” and ready to defend the country’s sovereignty.

“The West would like to forget the lessons of World War II, but we remember that the fate of humanity was decided in grandiose battles near Moscow and Leningrad,” as well as other cities, Putin said.

The president emphasized that Russia is “experiencing a difficult milestone period” in its history, noting that the fate of the country depends on every Russian. “We celebrate this Victory Day in the conditions of the special military operation – all its participants, those who are on the front lines – they are our heroes. We bow to their perseverance and sacrifice. All of Russia is with you,” Putin stated. Read more May 9th: How the anniversary of Nazi Germany’s surrender became the chief national holiday in modern Russia

The Russian leader stressed that the country remembers all those who lost lives while fighting Nazism and those who were killed during the Ukraine conflict. He commemorated them with a minute of silence.

“May 9 is always a very emotional, poignant day… Victory Day unites all generations. We are moving forward based on our centuries-old traditions and are confident that together we will ensure a free, safe future for Russia,” Putin stressed.

The president’s speech ended in the traditional manner with canon blasts and the Russian national anthem.

Military parades and other events celebrating Victory Day are taking place in over 300 cities across Russia. For over a decade now, the celebration also included a massive civilian march known as the Immortal Regiment, in which people carry portraits of their relatives who fought the Nazis during the war. This year, the ceremony was canceled due to security concerns.
