“A Hideous Place”: Clarence Thomas Slams DC and the “Nastiness and Lies” Directed at Him

Justice Thomas delivered the remarks at a conference in Alabama

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas described Washington DC as “hideous place” at a judicial conference in Alabama on Friday. He railed against the “nastiness and lies” directed at him and his wife, and lamented the loss of public confidence in the Supreme Court.

Thomas was speaking at the 11 US Circuit Court of Appeals conference in Point Clear, Alabama when he made the remarks. He spoke about the perils of his job and also the political culture in Washington.

“Being in Washington, you have to get used to particularly people who are reckless,” Thomas said.

“They don’t bomb you, necessarily, but they bomb your reputation or your good name or your honor. And that’s not a crime but they can do as much harm that way.”

Thomas and his wife Ginni have received significant criticism, particularly after revelations that Ginni attended Trump’s rally in Washington on 6 January 2021.

Critics have demanded that Thomas recuse himself from Supreme Court cases concerning the 2020 election and its aftermath. This includes former president Donald Trump’s appeal regarding claims of absolute immunity from criminal charges due to his attempts to contest the election result.

Speaking at the conference, Thomas claimed that people in Washington “pride themselves in being awful.”

“It is a hideous place, as far as I’m concerned.”

Thomas went on to speak about the current health of the Supreme Court. He expressed his continuing shock at the 2022 leak of a draft opinion during the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Thomas said that when he joined the Supreme Court in 1991, “we may have been a dysfunctional family, but we were a family.”

“It would be inconceivable that anyone would leak an opinion of the court or do anything to intentionally harm one another.”

Reports of Thomas’s remarks were greeted with derision by liberal commentators.

“Hey, Clarence Thomas? tweeted Keith Olbermann.

“Go f*ck yourself, you fascist snowflake

“And if you want to serve America, turn your wife in to the authorities.”

“I Won’t Be Paid Off, Bullied, or Coerced into Silence”: Giuliani Is Defiant after Cancellation of His Show

Giuliani was suspended from WBAC for continuing to maintain the 2020 election was stolen

Rudy Giuliani issued a defiant statement on Twitter after he was suspended from radio station WBAC for discussing the validity of the 2020 election. His show has been cancelled.

Giuliani took to Twitter to make clear his refusal to be told what to say.

“The 2020 U.S. Presidential Election was stolen,” he tweeted.

“…and like I’ve said before, I won’t be paid off, bullied, or coerced into silence. Not by @JoeBiden. Not by @TheDemocrats.Not by @77WABCRadio.”

According to The New York Times, John Catsimatidis, the billionaire owner of the station, made the decision to axe Giuliani and his show after repeated warning not to talk about the 2020 election.

“We’re not going to talk about fallacies of the November 2020 election,” Catsimatidis told The Times.

“We warned him once. We warned him twice. And I get a text from him last night, and I get a text from him this morning that he refuses not to talk about it. So he left me no option. I suspended him.”

Catsimatidis claimed that Giuliani had to be physically cut off by employees of the radio station when he was trying to talk about the election, on Thursday.

Steve Bannon’s Conviction Upheld by Appeals Court

Bannon’s was originally convicted for failing to comply with a subpoena from the House January 6 Committee

Steve Bannon’s conviction for contempt of Congress was upheld by a federal appeals court on Friday. Bannon was found guilty of failing to comply with a subpoena from the House January 6 Committee and sentenced to four months in federal prison.

The US DC Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously rejected Bannon’s case, which included the claim that the trial court prevented him from putting valid evidence before the jury.

The Court ruled that the contempt law under which Bannon was convicted only required proof that he “deliberately and intentionally” did not respond to the subpoena.

The Court also rejected Bannon’s claim that the January 6 Committee was improperly formed.

“These objections suffer from a common defect,” the judges wrote. “Bannon did not raise them before the Select Committee and therefore forfeited them.”

Why did the DC appellate panel today uphold the contempt of Congress charges against Steve Bannon yet Hunter Biden brazenly walked out of the deposition he was subpoenaed for and hasn’t faced any consequences?pic.twitter.com/hC6cszyNuS

In its ruling on Friday, the Court of Appeals gave Bannon the opportunity to appeal its ruling to the full DC-based appeals court before it notifies the original judge that the conviction has been upheld.

Bannon could also launch a full challenge in the US Supreme Court.

“Even If It’s Full Term”: RFK Jr. Clarifies His Support for Abortion even at the Point of Birth

adminMay 11, 20243 min read
RFK said he supports abortion up to full term in an interview on the Sage Steele Show

In an appearance on the Sage Steele Show on Wednesday, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made clear that he supports the right of women to have an abortion up to the point of birth. He also stated his opposition to allowing the states to have the power to decide abortion law.

“I have been probably one of the leading, arguably one of the leading people in this country for medical freedom and for bodily autonomy,” Kennedy said in the interview.

“I think with abortion, every abortion is a tragedy. Many of them leave permanent trauma on the woman. But I think, ultimately, I don’t trust government to have jurisdiction over people’s bodies. I think we need to leave it to the woman, her pastor and to, you know, her spiritual advisors or physician, whatever, to make those decisions.”

Kennedy played down the number of late-term abortions that actually take place and said that there are usually “extenuating circumstances” in such cases.

He said that although there’s a “compelling argument” that the state “has an interest in protecting a fully-formed fetus,” he simply doesn’t “trust the state.”

“I think we need to trust the woman and I don’t think that that’s a satisfactory outcome, because there’s always gonna be instances where bad things happen.

When Steele pressed RFK Jr. on his anti-state stance on abortion and asked if that meant women should have the choice “even if it’s full term,” heresponded in the affirmative.

“Even if it’s full term.”

“I think we have to leave it to the woman, not the state. I think we should do everything in our power to make sure that never happens and everything that we can do.

“But I think, ultimately, you know, nobody sets out to do that. And there are always some kind of extenuating circumstances that would make a mother make that kind of choice, a terrible, terrible choice which is, you know, you can’t overstate how bad that is. And I think, ultimately, we have to trust women.”

RFK Jr. has been forced to clarify his position on abortion after it was reported last year that he was in favour of limiting abortions to either 15 or 21 weeks of pregnancy. His campaign released a statement that he “does not support legislation banning abortion.”
