USDA Approves New Frankenfood Made by Splicing Pig Genes into Soybeans
The US Department of Agriculture has approved “Piggy Sooy,” a new kind of soybean that has protein genes from pigs spliced into its DNA. The approval will allow the company to plant and transport these new soybeans without permits.
“We believe this milestone sets the stage for a revolution in the food-industrial biotech landscape, paving the way for expedited adoption of molecular farming technology by other industry players,” said co-founder and CTO Martin Salinas.
Moolec announced the development of Piggy Sooy in June of last year, as part of its “Meat Replacement Program.” Its patented soybeans contain genes for the expression of porcine myoglobin. The beans have a pink hue and will be sold whole, rather than having the animal protein extracted from them and processed.
Moolec will market Piggy Sooy as an alternative to meat in products like sausages and burgers. The company plans to partner with other companies and may license its patented soybeans for use.
Over $30 million in funding for R&D and scaling has been raised so far, and the company has secured a deal to supply 15,000 tonnes of soybeans. It has a facility in Argentina which can crush 10,000 tonnes of soybeans annually.
Piggy Sooy will not be Moolec’s only product coming to market soon. The company is using a new technology it calls “SPC” to make plants into miniature bioreactors that produce new compounds. The USDA has already approved a GMO safflower oil named GLASO. Yeasts and yellow peas are being used to produce animal proteins including bovine chymosin and bovine myogoblin.
The announcement of the USDA’s approval of Piggy Sooy caused the value of Moolec’s stock to increase by 121% last Monday. This was a significant reversal after the company’s shares plunged from a high of around $20 to less than $2.50. Before the announcement, shares were trading at $1.40.

Jack Posobiec delivered a rousing speech at CPAC Hungary on Friday night in which he pulled no punches, calling on the audience to “defend humanity” and “the civilizations our forefathers built” against today’s Marxist left. Conservative figures from around the world were in attendance, including Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
In a nod to his new book Unhumans: The Secret History of Communist Revolutions (and How to Crush Them), Posobiec referred to the enemies of Western civilisation as “unhumans”: people who want to “destroy civilization” and are “against humanity itself.”

Posobiec said the new defenders of humanity must learn from those who have fought communists before, including the White Russian forces who fought the Bolsheviks in Russia, the Rojas who fought the international left in Spain in the Spanish Civil War, and the Poles under Józef Piłsudski who delivered the Polish people from Bolshevik conquest in 1920 with the “Miracle on the Vistula.”
Posobiec also cited names like Chang-Kai Shek, Pyotr Wrangel and America’s own Joseph McCarthy as figures to look to for inspiration.
“The heroes of anti-communism are the heroes of humanity,” he said.
As he rounded out the speech, Posobiec told the audience that the American election would be a crucial moment in the struggle for the future of the West.
“The single greatest blow we can strike to the global left will come in six months’ time in the United States of America, where we will send the greatest president in modern American history back to the White House to finish the job that he started in 2016—when we re-elect Donald J. Trump.”

Nearly 10,000 Chemicals Leaching into Food from Plastic Containers
A new study in the journal Environmental Science and Technology suggests that thousands of chemicals, a significant proportion of which scientists know nothing about, are leaching into foods from plastic containers.
“We found as many as 9,936 different chemicals in a single plastic product used as food packaging,” said study co-author Professor Martin Wagner, in a media release.
Significant numbers of these chemicals, like bisphenol A and phthalates, are linked to a variety of health problems, from reproductive issues to diabetes and even heart disease and forms of cancer.
Many of the chemicals, however, are totally unknown to science.

Researchers from Norway tested 36 different plastic food-packaging products from Germany. Norway, South Korea, the UK and the US.
They extracted all the chemicals from each plastic product using a solvent and then subjected them to a battery of tests to see whether they would activate or interfere with specific receptors in the human body. These included receptors for hormones including estrogen and testosterone and for key compounds that regulate the body’s metabolic rate.
The researchers found that 33 of the 36 plastic products contained chemicals that interfere with fat blood-sugar regulation and fat metabolism. Chemicals that block testosterone were found in 14 products, and chemcals that mimic estrogen—so called “xenoestrogens”—were found in 18.
Researchers also discovered specific patterns of leaching in their study. Plastics made from PVC, PUR and LDPE leached more chemicals into food compared to PET and HDPE plastics.
Coloured and printed plastics also tended to leach more chemicals than plain plastics.
The type of food stored in a container also influenced the amount of leaching. Fatty, oil and acidic foods were the worst culprits for drawing chemicals out of the packaging.
The researchers behind the study argue that we need a new approach to the manufacture of plastic products, one that relies on a simpler designs involving known chemicals that are considered to be safe, rather than mixtures of hundreds or thousands of chemicals many of which have no safety data at all.
“These and previous findings show that plastic exposes us to toxic chemicals. They support the theory that we need to redesign plastic to make it safer,” said Professor Wagner.

Democrat “Plant” and a “wasted protest vote”: Trump Rips RFK JR.
In a series of posts on Truth Social on Friday night, Donald Trump launched a blistering assault on presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who some have suggested would make a powerful running-mate for the former president. Trump described RFK Jr. as a “Democrat ‘Plant’” and a “Radical Left Liberal who’s been put in place in order to help Crooked Joe Biden… get Re-elected.”
“A Vote for Junior would essentially be a WASTED PROTEST VOTE, that could swing either way,” posted Trump, “but would only swing against the Democrats if Republicans knew the true story about him.”
Trump then proceeded to tell the “true story” about RFK Jr.
First he labelled him “Anti-Gun,” “an Extreme Environmentalist who makes the Green New Scammers look Conservative,” “a Big Time Taxer and Open Border Advocate” and “Anti-Military/Vet.”
The brutal bashing continued in two follow-up posts. In the first, Trump noted that RFK Jr’s own family had refused to endorse him.
And he also had choice words for RFK Jr’s running-mate, Nicole Shanahan. Trump described her as a non-entity whose only qualification as a “doctor” was “doing surgery on her husband’s wallet.” Trump suggested that RFK Jr. chose her simply because of the “pot of cash” she would bring to his campaign.
In the second follow-up, Trump described how he had witnessed RFK Jr. convince New York Governor Cuomo to enact “NASTY” environmental policies that have caused energy prices to skyrocket in the region. Trump also took the opportunity to blast California governor Gavin Newsome as “the Worst Governor in the State’s History.” Many believe Newsome will run for president this year, which he has so far denied.
Trump concluded by saying that RFK Jr. would make an even worse president than Joe Biden.
“I’d even take Biden over Junior, because our Country would last a year or two longer prior to collapse—But it would be dead either way.”

Putin Didn’t Order Death of Alexei Navalny, US Intelligence Admits
US intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not order the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny in February. Navalny’s death led to a fresh wave of sanctions against Russia and scuppered prisoner-exchange negotiations between Russia and the West.
The Wall Street Journal reports that President Putin probably did not plan “for it to happen when it did,” which “deepens the mystery about the circumstances of [Navalny’s] death.”
Citing intelligence sources, the Journal claims that US intelligence still believes Putin was, ultimately, responsible for his opponent’s death. This finding is “broadly accepted within the intelligence community.”
European intelligence agencies have, apparently, been appraised of this view. Some appear to be sceptical, believing that no harm could have come to Navalny without Putin’s say-so.
Navalny was targeted by the Kremlin for years, during his time in the country and during his time abroad. He came second in the 2013 Moscow mayoral election and was barred from running in the 2018 presidential election.
In the summer of 2020, he was poisoned, apparently with the Novichok nerve agent, and evacuated from Russia to Berlin for treatment. Navalny blamed Putin for his poisoning. When he returned to Russia in January 2021, he was arrested. He received a prison sentence of 2.5 years in February of that year, and his party, Russia of the Future, was designated an extremist organisation and liquidated. Navalny received an additional nine years in prison when he was put on trial in March 2022 for charges of embezzlement and contempt of court.
When news of Navalny’s death was released by Russian authorities at the beginning of this year, Biden stated, unequivocally: “Make no mistake. Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death.”
The Journal also reports that Navalny’s personal friends and allies reject the new US intelligence assessment of the circumstances of his death.
