Democrat Senator Introduces Bill to Repeal 1873 Federal Law that Bans Mailing Abortion Pills
WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — U.S. Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) has introduced legislation to repeal a 151-year-old law prohibiting the distribution of abortion pills via the U.S. postal system, hoping to retroactively legitimize a controversial Biden administration executive action should the 2024 elections go in Democrats’ favor.
In January 2023, the Biden Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) declared that a provision of the 1873 Comstock Act making it illegal for the United States Postal Service to deliver any “article, instrument, substance, drug, medicine, or thing which is advertised or described in a manner calculated to lead another to use or apply it for producing abortion,” did not mean what it said.
According to OLC, abortion pills may be freely mailed, delivered, and received “where the sender lacks the intent that the recipient of the drugs will use them unlawfully.” And because “there are manifold ways in which recipients in every state may use these drugs, including to produce an abortion, without violating state law,” the “mere mailing of such drugs to a particular jurisdiction is an insufficient basis for concluding that the sender intends them to be used unlawfully.”
Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a challenge to the legality of the move (as well as to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s prior approval of abortion drugs) on the grounds that the plaintiffs supposedly lacked standing, leaving the door open for future challenges to possibly fare better.
To help prevent such an outcome, Smith introduced the Stop Comstock Act, which would formally repeal the 1873 law. Smith was formerly Planned Parenthood’s executive vice president of external affairs in Minnesota.
“The Comstock Act is a 150-year-old zombie law banning abortion that’s long been relegated to the dustbin of history,” Smith claimed in a press release, taking aim at “extremist Republicans and Trump judges” who support enforcing the act. She added that “a future Republican administration” could potentially use the law to restrict abortion even in pro-abortion states.
“It’s quite astounding. Democrats in Congress must wake up every day wondering what else they can do to make it easier to end the lives of unborn children,” National Right to Life Committee president Carol Tobias responded to Catholic News Agency. “These are the same people trying to shut down pregnancy centers, trying to block pregnancy centers from online search engines, and vilifying the abortion pill reversal process. This latest effort is one more attempt not to help women and babies but instead an effort to make it easier to kill preborn babies.”
Easy access to and interstate distribution of abortion pills is one of the abortion lobby’s most potent tools for perpetuating abortion-on-demand post-Roe v. Wade, which they are aggressively pursuing regardless of the risks to the women they purport to serve.
A 2020 open letter from a coalition of pro-life groups to then-FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn noted that the FDA’s own adverse reporting system says the “abortion pill has resulted in over 4,000 reported adverse events since 2000, including 24 maternal deaths. Adverse events are notoriously underreported to the FDA, and as of 2016, the FDA only requires abortion pill manufacturers to report maternal deaths.”
Pro-lifers warn that with the Biden administration completely eliminating requirements that abortion pills be taken in the presence of a medical professional, meaning without any medical supervision or medical support close by, those events are certain to increase.
“A November 2021 study by Charlotte Lozier Institute scholars appeared in the peer-reviewed journal Health Services Research and Managerial Epidemiology,” writesCatholic University of America research associate Michael New. “They analyzed state Medicaid data of over 400,000 abortions from 17 states that fund elective abortions through their Medicaid programs. They found that the rate of abortion-pill-related emergency-room visits increased over 500 percent from 2002 through 2015. The rate of emergency-room visits for surgical abortions also increased during the same time period, but by a much smaller margin.’”
In November 2022, Operation Rescue reported that a net decrease of 36 abortion facilities in 2022 led to the lowest number in almost 50 years, yet the chemical abortion business “surged” with 64 percent of new facilities built last year specializing in dispensing mifepristone and misoprostol. Citing data from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, STAT says mifepristone “accounts for roughly half of all abortions in the U.S.”
Smith’s bill stands no chance this year of passing Congress, which is currently narrowly split between a Democrat Senate and Republican House of Representatives. But it offers a preview of what could be in store if Democrats manage to keep the presidency, take over the House, and expand their Senate majority enough to change the filibuster rules preventing the chamber from passing ordinary legislation with a simple majority.

TARGETED: DHS Intelligence Group Views Trump Supporters, Military Members and Religious Americans as ‘Domestic Terrorism Threats’
An advisory board put together by the Department of Homeland Security under the Biden administration made the outlandish suggestion that supporters of Donald Trump, along with military veterans and religious Americans, pose a domestic terrorism risk.
This is according to internal files from the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group, a panel that was established last September on the pretense of providing “advice and perspectives on intelligence and national security efforts.”
It included former National Intelligence Director James Clapper and John Brennan, who served as the director of the CIA under the Obama era. Both men were known for falsely claiming that reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the New York Post was Russian disinformation ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
The group was so objectionable that the conservative nonprofit America First Legal filed a suit in November claiming it was filled with Democrat partisans and was in violation of the Federal Advisory Committee Act due to its “lack of balance, the Biden Administration’s inappropriate influence over it, and its lack of public notice and participation.”
In an out-of-court settlement, the Department of Homeland Security agreed to disband the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group and share its internal records with the AFL.
These records paint a disturbing picture of the aims of this incredibly biased group, which included its desire to “get into local communities in a non-threatening way.”
They used very alarming criteria to determine terrorism risks, such as tagging individuals with labels such as being “religious” or “in the military” as a pretext for the DHS to spy on them.
According to the group, these people are more worthy of concern than the unvetted illegal aliens that have been allowed to make their way into the country and left-wing extremist groups such as antifa.
The board noted: “If you ask researchers to dive into indicators of extremists and terrorism, they might indicate being in the military or religious. This being identified as an indicator suggests we should be more worried about those. We need the space to talk about it honestly.”
Trump supporters flagged as potential terrorists
The group also discussed their belief that Trump supporters are the biggest threat in the U.S., with their meeting notes stating: “There is a political backdrop to all of this. It seems that most of the Domestic Terrorism threat now comes from supporters of the former president. It is not like you want a political advantage, but people have attacked the government and its institutions for the last six years.”
The Homeland Intelligence Experts Group also hoped to set up an influence operation that would convince teachers and mothers to report parents and students they suspected of “domestic extremism.”
They also suggested categorizing political dissent as a “public health” crisis to motivate people to report others in their community – or even family members – to the government.
One participant suggested: “To get a mother or teacher to come forward, it needs to be a public health catcher’s mitt.”
Another solution that was put forward was enlisting corporate America to provide intelligence on employees.
The Executive Director of the AFL, Gene Hamilton, told Fox News: “These shocking records reveal apparent unabashed partisanship on this Deep State committee. All efforts to weaponize the federal government against political opponents of the ruling regime should be stopped. We look forward to exposing more records in the coming days.”

EU Embraces Antifa Hammer Attacks in Hungary
Like a drop in the ocean, the European and Hungarian left’s hypocrisy and tolerance for brutality are present in the Salis case. As we know, last February, the far-left Antifa activist Ilaria Salis, together with her fellow activists, carried out two attacks in Budapest during which several people suffered lifelong injuries. The victims were identified as fascists on the basis of their clothing and surveillance, and were nearly beaten to death with hammers.
Salis’ role in the events remains unclear.
Any civilized country would have done as the Hungarian authorities did: One of the perpetrators of the attack was identified, arrested and was to be brought to trial. If the Salis’ trial had been allowed to proceed, her role in the brutal attacks would have been clarified.
Italian citizen Ilaria Salis, who is accused of being a member of the violent Antifa “Hammer gang,” has been elected to the EU parliament and now has immunity through her status as an MEP.

This means she will be released from prison in Hungary, where she is currently standing… pic.twitter.com/YXzG7Fq9XM
However, the trial could not go ahead because of a huge campaign to free Salis, which was launched in Italy. It is painful that even the right-wing Italian government in power in Rome got involved in the Salis case, criticizing the conditions of her detention. The left, of course, went even further, claiming that Salis had to spend her daily life among mice.
In response, in a completely unusual move, the Hungarian authorities showed the cell where Salis was living, where nothing was out of the ordinary. Basically, a normally furnished and hygienic prison cell was revealed. No, it was not furnished like a luxury suite at the Hilton Hotel, but after all, it was a prison for someone accused of vicious assaults.
Eventually, Salis was released from prison, allowed to return home, and checked in with a photo she posted from home. Of course, her father said that his daughter had endured torture. What else could he say when the movement to free Salis in Italy was built on this lie? What those people went through when they were beaten half to death does not seem to have aroused much interest in Italy.
For this very reason, there is a rather disgusting side to the story. Whether said or unsaid, Salis’ martyr role could only be constructed — by “exploding” the falsely established intolerable prison conditions — if it is understood in the context of a background comparison between developed Western Europe and “uncivilized” Hungary, which allegedly does not respect European values.
We are well aware that in the EU, the Western European states do not even consider their favorite Eastern European countries to be their equals. So, in this case, the actual victims were not mentioned, the perpetrators were portrayed as victims, with the appropriate political spin.
If anyone has even the slightest doubt that the left has completely disrupted all elements of normal life, here is a statement by Angelo Bonelli, spokesman for Salis’ AVS party:
“Salis will fight for democracy, the rule of law and civil rights in Europe, and she will start her work with Hungary,” said Bonelli.

Dissident Religious Sisters Flout Church Teaching With Blasphemous ‘Pride Month Prayer Service’
(LifeSiteNews) – A group of dissident religious Catholic sisters hosted a blasphemous pro-LGBT “prayer service” online in which they celebrated “sexual diversity,” asked God for forgiveness for all the laws that now protect children from sexual mutilation and sterilization, and committed to promoting acceptance of the sexual perversions of the rainbow ideology within the Church and civil society.
On June 25, the U.S. Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph held their second annual “Pride Month Prayer Service,” sacrilegiously using Scripture to push the acceptance of sexual perversions in overt acts of blasphemy.

On the Facebook page for the event, the dissident sisters advertised that it would include testimonies of “LGBTQIA2S+ members of these communities.” Organizers invited LGBT supporters: “Join us for a virtual, hour-long time of prayer designed by, for, and with vowed women religious communities and our partners in mission. This prayer service will center the voices and lived experiences of LGBTQIA2S+ members of these communities. We will incorporate music, Scripture, and prayer to celebrate Pride in its joy and sacredness, honoring its historical context. We hope to offer a time of authentic connection during the month of June, which is observed as Pride Month.”
Similarly, included in the email to participants, the organizers stated, “In this time of prayer together during Pride month, we will:
– Celebrate Pride month collectively in its joy and sacredness, from the perspectives of vowed religious communities and their partners in mission;
– Lament the pains of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and ongoing exclusion, and move toward;
– Go forth, emboldened by the Spirit, to transform our hearts, our church, our politics, and our country.”
The meeting was attended by nearly 250 participants, most of whom were elderly religious sisters not wearing a religious habit, all espousing LGBT ideology. The event was not recorded by organizers, but LifeSiteNews obtained from one of the participants both details of the meeting and a silent video recording that shows the precomposed prayers and testimonials.
The “prayer” meeting began with a disgusting display of rainbow colors dripping down the screen like blood.
After a song titled “All are Welcome” about LGBT inclusion in the Church, a blasphemous “prayer” composed for “Pride Month” was read in which the sisters thanked God for “our siblings who manifest expressions of sexuality and gender that do not conform to societal expectations.” In the prayer, the sisters asked to be freed of the “social conditioning of homophobia and transphobia.”
The sisters then read statistics on the various anti-LGBT, pro-marriage, pro-women, and pro-children laws that have been passed in conservative states over the course of the last year. They lamented the protections enacted against the sexual predation, chemical sterilization, surgical mutilation, and ideological indoctrination of minors and young adults. They blasphemously “prayed” for forgiveness for all such laws.
The sisters also committed the sacrilege of using Sacred Scripture in an attempt to bolster their support of sexually deviant lifestyles and perversions that are expressly condemned in Scripture, which is replete with denunciations of sexual immorality, including the many condemnations of every kind of sexual sin in the Old Testament, the complete destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality, the warnings of the prophets, Christ’s command to be chaste even in thought on the Sermon of the Mount, St. Paul’s instructions to abhor all sexual sins, the Apostle’s emphatic teaching that sexual perverts and homosexuals cannot enter the kingdom of God, and St. John’s insistence that we cannot love God without keeping His Commandments — a part of the First Letter of St. John conveniently left out of the reading chosen for the event, which was also retranslated to avoid referring to God as He or Him.
The sisters read from 1 Jn 3:1-2 about being God’s children. The very next verses, which were not included, declare, “And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous. He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God commits sin … By this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not do right is not of God” (1Jn 3:3-10)
Religious sisters who identify as LGBT then offered “testimonials,” declaring their “gratitude” for the “gift” of their sexual identity and vowing to work to “change” the Church from within.
The sisters celebrated the 1969 Stonewall “Uprising,” the first Pride marches of the 1970s, and the creation of the rainbow flag in San Francisco as the beginning of the “LGBTQIA2S” movement with which they identify.
They then blasphemously lit a row of rainbow-colored candles to symbolize and celebrate the “spectrum” of sexual identities.

Hungary Hops Off ‘Nato Train,’ Calls West’s Escalation of War in Ukraine ‘Hopeless’
There is no way for the West’s war against Russia to reach victory, according to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban who in a recent interview called the situation “hopeless.”
The only thing that will be accomplished if the bombs continue flying is ever-greater death and destruction in both countries, Orban said. Even if the West is somehow able to achieve “success” at some point, the cost in blood and treasure will be so high as to render the mission a failure.
“The situation looks like the Western world wants to defeat Russia with the help of Germany under the leadership of the United States,” Orban said.
“I think it is hopeless. And even if we succeed, which is not at all realistic, we will have to pay such a high price that it will not be worth it.”
(Related: There is a way for Russia to retrieve its stolen assets while leaving the financial West to collapse all on its own.)
NATO caused war with Russia with territory expansion
The war would not even be happening had NATO not expanded its territory right up to Russia’s doorstep, Orban further noted. Russia had no choice but to launch a special military operation, which was followed by a ceasefire proposal that Ukraine rejected.
“In the end, the question is whether Ukraine will become a NATO member or not,” Orban said, noting that Russia will only stop the war if Ukraine gives up its aspirations of joining the Western military alliance.
“This war is about Sevastopol where there will be a NATO flag or a Russian flag at the exit to the Black Sea. The Russians say that the Russian flag is flying there now and they don’t want to change it to a NATO flag, and they don’t want to border NATO countries.”

In separate statements given to Hungarian broadcaster Radio Kossuth, Orban hinted that NATO might be planning to launch a military mission in Ukraine, but that Hungary will have no part of it.
“I have agreed with the NATO secretary general: NATO will have a military mission in Ukraine,” Orban said in that interview, “but Hungary will not participate in it, not even with money.”
Orban also said that Hungary is getting off the NATO “train” of escalation, which is good timing now that Brussels and Washington have greenlighted using Western weapons to attack inside Russian territory, this being one of Moscow’s “red lines” that it told the West not to cross.
“The driver could not be convinced, and now only Trump can stop the train,” Orban said about the upcoming presidential election here in the United States.
Putting pressure on the next NATO chief, Orban said that neither the last nor the next “will put pressure on Hungary” to do something that it does not want to do.
“Orban is the most sensible person over there next to Putin,” one commenter expressed about the situation. “I really hate our government, but my entire family still believes that Putin is very bad and wants to control the world.”
“They cannot get it into their thick heads that we are the ones who want to control the world, not Putin – dingbats! I love them all but I just can’t take much of them.”
“Erdogan will follow – I am sure of it,” wrote another, referring to the head of Turkey joining Hungary in opposing NATO’s continued escalation of war with Russia. “NATO has made the world a more dangerous place. NATO is the aggressor, not Russia.”
